Advisory and general questions 1. What is National Institute of Technology? According to the National Institutes of Technology Act No. 29 of 2007, these institutes have been declared as institutions of national importance by the parliament. 2. Is there any management quota in NITs? No. There is no management quota in NITs. 3. My AIR is XXXXXX. Which seat will I get? Seat allocation in CSAB-2013 is based on JEE (Main) 2013 All India Rank list. 4. What preparation is needed to fill the choices? It is very important to study all the participating institutes. One may visit their website, talk to persons who know about them or even visit the institutes personally and see where and how are the institutes. Check whether the fee is affordable. Some institutes and branches have restrictions on age, gender and minimum marks in qualifying exam. Ensure that you fulfill those criteria. 5. What is the best strategy of choice filling? Each choice of institute or branch must be such that you know completely what you are asking for. Include only those choices in your list where you are really prepared to go if you get a seat allocated. Maintaining strict order of preference is also very important. Assume that what you really want is at no. 17 in your list but you get choice no. 13. In the subsequent rounds, choice no. 1 to 12 only will be considered. Even if you get an opportunity to modify your choices later, what you wanted may not be available at that time.

6. What documents will be signed by the parent(s) at time of Admission? No documents are to be signed by parent(s). 7. Are the displayed ranks of JEE (Main) 2013 the state ranks of the candidates of the home state or their All India Rank? All displayed ranks are JEE (Main) 2013 All India Rank. 8. What does Home state quota mean? Home State quota means seats reserved for candidates of a particular state (state of eligibility is where the candidate passes qualifying exam). 9. How are the seats in Home state quota allocated? All seats under home state quota are allocated based on JEE (Main) 2013 All India rank. Eligibility Requirement 1. What is State of Eligibility? It is the state from where the candidate has passed the qualifying examination ( 12th exam, for complete details refer to information brochure) 2. NRI has qualified in CSAB 2013. What will be the state of eligibility? The state of permanent address as given in the passport will be considered as the state of eligibility. At the time of reporting at the reporting center, he/ she will be required to produce Passport in original. 3. Does the criteria for Home state include domicile by birth (or parents home state) other than the place of undergoing the Class XII exam? No, it is the state from where the candidate has passed the qualifying examination. 4. Can the candidate change wrong entry of his/her state of eligibility? Yes, the candidate can change his/her State of Eligibility data to the correct State at the time of online registration as per his original documents. 5. Remark NOT PERMITTED TO FILLUP CHOICES ONLINE FOR COUNSELING is written on the Score Card. Can such candidate do online registration? No, such candidates are not permitted to do online registration. 6. Final Result / Mark sheet of qualifying examination is not available due to delay in declaration of result, is he/she allowed? All documents in original have to be brought to the reporting center at the time of reporting in case of seat allocation.

What are the restrictions in branch / institution? Refer to Table 7.3 of information brochure. 10. What is the minimum academic qualification for admission through CSAB 2013? The academic qualifications as prescribed in Information Bulletin and Application Form of JEE (MAIN)-2013 are applicable for this allocation, extracts of which are reproduced below. Only those candidates who have passed their Class 12th Exam or any other qualifying examination in 2011 or 2012; or those who are appearing in their Class 12th Exam or any other qualifying examination in 2013 are eligible to appear in JEE (Main) - 2013. Candidates who passed Class 12th/Qualifying examination in 2010 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2014 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main)-2013.Candidates who appeared in class 12th/other Qualifying Examinations in 2010, did not pass in 2010, but passed in 2011 are also not eligible for appearing in JEE (Main) 2013. The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at JEE (Main) shall be limited to 03 (three). Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in class 12th/any other Qualifying examination in order to be eligible for writing JEE (Main). In the year 2013 however, the candidates who have taken four subjects are also permitted to write JEE 2013 as an exception. Subject combinations required in the qualifying examination for admission toB.E./B.Tech. and B. Arch./B. Planning Courses in NITs, IIITs, and other CFTIs shall be as under Subject Combinations in the Qualifying Examination Course B.E/B.TECH Required Criteria based on Class 12th / Other Qualifying Examination Subjects in Qualifying Examination: Physics, Mathematics and one of the subjects from (Chemistry, Bio-technology, Computer Science, Biology) along with 50% marks in total including all subjects Mathematics subject along with 50% Marks in total including all subjects

11. What is the minimum age for seat allocation through CSAB 2013? Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1988 are eligible. However, in the case of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e. SC, ST and PwD candidates who were born on or after October 01, 1983 are eligible. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate will only be considered.

Score Card 1. I have not received my JEE(Main) 2013 score card. What should I do? Please contact CBSE, Delhi for this purpose. You may download the Score Card from the website for purpose of presenting at the reporting center at the time of reporting. 2. I have lost my admit card. How can I recover it for seat allocation? Contact CBSE.

Category Rules 1. As per CSAB 2013 record, category is OPEN. Can the category be changed from OPEN to SC/ST/OBC? No, it cannot be changed. 2. Is category change possible during online registration? Change of Category is possible from SC/ST/OBC to OP at the time of online registration, but change of category from OP to reserved category is not allowed. Also change of category within SC/ST and OBC are not allowed. Change of any category to PwD will not be allowed. If the candidate fails to submit category certificate or category given by the candidate is found to be wrong (not in the NCBC list, http://ncbc.nic.in) at the time of verification of certificates and also at the time of reporting, his / her provisional allocation of the seat shall automatically stand cancelled. However, the candidate will be allowed for the next rounds of seat allocation for the available vacant seats only, after obtaining an undertaking from the candidate and updating his/her category based on the original certificates. 3. Is there any reservation for sub-category? Reservation for sub-category is only for Persons with Disabilities (PwD). Persons with Disabilities (PwD) 1. Who is eligible for persons with disabilities category? To be eligible for consideration under persons with disabilities category, a candidate must have a minimum of 40% disability subject to the condition that the candidate is capable of carrying out all activities related to theory and practical work as applicable to B.E. / B.Tech / B. Arch. Courses. Online Registration 1. What happens if I do not register during July 1- 5, 2013? Such candidates cannot fill in choices and hence are out of the admission process of CSAB (the first round and second round). However they can register for the spot round and extra spot round (July 17-20, 2013)

2. If a candidate forgets his/her password, how to get a new password? Whenever a candidate forgets his/her password, the system will ask for a keyword. The keyword will have to be entered to retrieve the password. If unable to retrieve the password by this process, then he/she will have to go to Reporting/ Help Centre. So candidates are advised to write/remember their password. 3. Can the candidate change his/her password? Yes. The candidate can change his/her password. 4. Can the name of the candidate be changed during seat allocation? No change in name is permitted. Choice filling and Locking 1. How many choices can a candidate give? A candidate can submit as many numbers of choices in order of preference as he/she wishes from the list of his/her available choices. 2. What is locking? Locking is the process of final submission of choices. 3. If a candidate doesn't lock his/her choices, will they be processed for seat allocation? It is in the interest of the candidates that they lock their choices themselves before the deadline. However, in the exceptional cases where candidates fail to lock their choices, the last saved choices will be locked automatically. 4. Can the candidate modify the choices after locking? After locking the choices, the candidate cannot modify his/her choices. Fee Rules 1. Is it required to pay any fee at the time of registration during July 1-5, 2013? No 2. What is initial fee? How is this adjusted? Every candidate who is taking Provisional Admission against an allotted seat has to deposit Rs. 40,000/- as initial fee. This will be adjusted towards the total fee payable by the candidate at the allocated institute. For spot round also, initial fee is Rs. 40,000/-

4. What are the Seat Cancellation and Fee refund rules? Refer to Art. 6 of the information brochure for details. Reporting Procedure 1. When is it required to report to a centre for document verification? Is it after every round of seat allocation or is it after getting an allocated seat? You have to report to a reporting centre after getting a seat allocated. It is not after every round of allocation. 2. If we are required to report more than once, is it necessary that we report to the same centre every time? Yes, you have to report at the same centre that you reported at first. 3. Can a candidate be allowed for reporting after scheduled date? Not allowed. If the candidate doesn't report at any one of the reporting centers for provisional seat allocation, his/her allocated seat shall stand cancelled. 4. Can a candidate be permitted if he/she brings part of the required documents? No. Not allowed. The candidate has to bring all the required documents in original. 5. What are the working hours of Reporting Centers, Help Centers, Participating Institutes and CSAB Headquarters? Generally, the working hours are 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM
