Introduction
All the participants reached the meeting place at 2.30 p.m., at first introduction session took place. Mr. Tiwari from Basix introduced about the project and role of Basix. Thereafter each member gave a self introduction.
Mr. Sabbar initiated the session saying that we are having meeting with different bankers but its S.H.G.s decision to open the bank account in any of the bank. He focused about the group decisions including selection of bank, rules and leaders. The main intention to invite specially S.H.G. leaders was to interact with the bankers. So that they may come to know the specific rulings of individual banks He emphasized that finally we would like to form a Cluster and then federation. Everything will be managed by women only. The rules will be formed by the group members only. At present Plan India is funding the programme. It will be for a limited period and then S.H.G. needs to be independent gradually so that Plan India can withdraw slowly. So the project is to help till S.H.G. members are not standing on their own feet. Many big organizations are charging high rate of interest and a vulnerable lady pay the heavy interest rate and becomes in worst stage of vicious circle. He further included that Plan and partners desire that S.H.G. should say, we can mobilize our group without any further support of BOC. This will give the real success to funding agency.
