16 These are the things that ye shall do: Speak ye every man the truth with his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth
and peace in your gates; 17 and let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath; for
all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.' 18 And the word of the LORD of hosts came unto me, saying: 19 'Thus
saith the LORD of hosts: The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of
the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful seasons; therefore love ye truth and peace.

18 (17). Rabbi Shimon the son of Gamliel would say: By three things is the world sustained: law, truth and peace. [As is
stated (Zachariah 8:16), "Truth, and a judgment of peace, you should administer at your [city] gates.'']

There are seven things that characterize a golem(boor), and seven that characterize a wise man. A wise man does not
speak before one who is greater than him in wisdom [or age]. He does not interrupt his fellow's words. He does not hasten

to answer. His questions are on the subject and his answers to the point. He responds to first things first and to latter things
later. Concerning what he did not hear, he says "I did not hear." He concedes to the truth. With the boor, the reverse of all
these is the case.

Seven Moral Values serve the Divine Throne. These are: Wisdom, Righteousness and Justice, Grace and mercy,
Truth and peace. As it is written (Hosea 2) I will betroth you to me forever and I will betroth you in righteousness and
justice and mercy and compassion and I will betroth you in faith and know God.
Rabbi Meir said: What does the verse teach when it says "know the Lord"? Every person that has these moral values
knows the Mind of God.
Seven Things concerning the golem and seven the wise man. . . And admits the truth This is Moses, as it is said:
(Deuteronomy 5) "And the Lord said unto me they have well said all that they have spoken.spoke well." And the Holy
Blessed One also admits Truth, as it is said: (Numbers 27) "The daughters of Zelophehad spoke rightly."
10. Shabbat 113b
" "

SHin [stands for] SHeker[falsehood]; Taw [for] emeTH [truth]: why are the letters of SheKeR close together, whilst those
of 'eMeTH are far apart? Falsehood is frequent, truth is rare. And why does falsehood [stand] on one foot, whilst truth
has a brick-like foundation? Truth can stand, falsehood cannot stand.
11. Shavuot 39b
The whole world trembled at the time when the Holy One, blessed be He, said at Sinai: Thou shalt not take the name of
the Lord thy God in vain. And with reference to all transgressions in the Torah it is said, holding guiltless; but here it is
said, Will not hold him guiltless. And for all the transgressions in the Torah he [the sinner] alone is punished, but here he
and his family; for it is said: Suffer not thy mouth to bring thy flesh into guilt And for all the transgressions in the Torah
he alone is punished, but here he and all the world; for it is said: Swearing and lying....[therefore doth the land mourn, and
every one that dwelleth therein doth languish]And with reference to all transgressions in the Torah, if he has merit,
punishment is suspended for two or three generations, but here he is punished immediately, as it is said, I cause it to go
forth, saith the Lord of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief and into the house of him that sweareth falsely
by My name.
12. Maimonides on Avot 1:18: Maimonides glosses din=political skills (running society), emet=intellectual
