COMPETITION
WHAT IS EVENTING?
Eventing could be termed an equestrian triathlon, the ultimate equestrian contest combining the three disciplines of dressage, cross-country and show jumping. Eventing originated with the military. The purpose was to create a competition in which officers and horses could be tested for any challenges that could occur on or off duty. It also provided a basis to compare training standards between the cavalries of different countries. Eventing includes individual and team competitions. Each competitor rides the same horse on separate and consecutive days.
