METHOD STATEMENT

: SCOPE OF WORK Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC) cladding works. Fabricator and Installer: Dcor Zahrat Al Urdun GRC Factory

: RELEVANT REFERENCES GRC Sec 7.12 of the Contract Specifications: Glass Reinforced Concrete cladding And Features

: SUBMITTAL OF SAMPLES FOR APPROVAL A sample of 1000 X 500 mm, showing the proposed color texture finish, texture, color and thickness.

: SHOP DRAWINGS The shop drawings will be prepared with the following details based on the architectural drawings: Plans & Elevations of water tank elevations where the decorative GRC panels are to be installed. Sections showing divisions of panels, details of frame work projection from the structure as well as thickness of the panels. Fixing details showing sizes, type of fixing & grade of fixing materials. Joint details showing panel face finishes, thickness of the panels and also the sealant details. Schedule of panels with individual dimension, fixing & lifting sockets details for production.

: SITE SURVEY Based on the approval of the shop drawing, UEC will conduct a site survey with site Engineers and Q.S. which will cover the following: Overall dimensions and shape of the structure will be cross-checked with approved drawings. All sections and levels will be checked with the approved drawings. The basic reference level of the structure will be followed for GRC works. Upon confirmation, the Site Engineers will prepare the production sketches. The production sketches will be submitted for approval.

: INITIAL PROCESS Pattern and mold work will be done as per the approved shop drawings. However, prior to mold making, the same will be inspected by the Engineer for design review. 2. After the site survey, the Site Engineer will work out the dimensions and will issue production sketches to start with the manufacturing through Design Studio. 3. The Production Engineer will prepare the mould setting-out according to the production sketches, which will cover the following: i. Exact dimension ii. Fixing details iii. Type of panels iv. Colour of panels v. Face finishes of panels vi. Thickness of panels

: MANUFACTURING PROCESS: Application of Releasing Agent. Locate all the casting and lifting sockets as shown in the production sketches. Application of face material with approved color. Application of first layer of GRC Mix. Compaction of first layer with spring roller. Application of second layer of GRC Mix. Compaction of second layer with spring roller. Spacing of polystyrene foam ribs as shown in the production sketches for the stiffening of GRC panels. Application of last layer of GRC including over the foam ribs. Cover the panel with polythene sheet.

: DEMOULDING To remove the polythene sheet on the second day and lift the panel with crane, and keep it for 7 days to invigorate. 9 : FINISHING After 7 days, touch-up/repair will be done to the chipped/crushed areas (if any) while demoulding. 10 : QUALITY CHECK-UP After finishing all the touch-ups, the Quality Inspector will crosscheck the panel as per the approved drawings and keep the panels ready for delivery. 11 : TRANSPORTATION All the panels will be well packed with polystyrene foam sheets or corrugated sheets and will be loaded into the truck in a proper manner.

: SITE STORAGE The GRC panels shall be stored at site in a dry, clean and leveled area properly protected from any accidental damage.

: PRE-CHECK OF PANELS BEFORE LIFTING FOR ERECTION The GRC panels will be checked for the following before erection: 1. The panel size as per the approved drawings. 2. The color and texture against the approved sample. 3. To check for any damage while loading & unloading.

: ARRANGEMENT OF LIFTING EQUIPMENT Prior to the starting of installation, the lifting equipment i.e. crane and the access to the site have to be arranged.

: SITE ARRANGEMENT TO START INSTALLATION Prior to the starting of installation, co-ordination between Manufacturer and Contractor to make sure that all levels and reference levels are as per the approved Drawings. Safety and security procedures for scaffolding and carnage as well as for personnel during installation and erection of panels will be observed.

: LEVELING ON SITE Structural frames to be checked for their tolerance level. Alignment is required for the exterior face of the panel and proper marking with string lines to be done prior to the start of installation. The Main Contractor should give the level marking on each elevation as per their Structural Drawings. Any discrepancy beyond tolerance is to be brought to the notice of the Main Contractor.

: FIXING OF BRACKETS Based on the confirmation of alignment and marking of fixing points, approved brackets are fixed to the structural frame. The brackets and fixing are to be approved by the Consultant. 18 : INSTALLATION AND LEVELING OF PANELS Ensure proper access to the fixing area from the storage area. The GRC panels will be lifted with suitable lifting devices at the points provided at the factory. The GRC panels are set level, plump, square and true within the allowable tolerances and fixed to the bracket with suitable approved loose fixings.

: JOINT SEALANT After the Engineer checks the finishing of panels, sealant work is carried out according to the project specifications using the approved sealant and backing rod. MCI to apply the joint sealant with utmost care as to not stain the GRC panels.

: HANDING OVER SCHEDULE A handing over schedule is to be decided prior to the installation of the panels. The handing over can be elevation-wise as

per the priorities of the completion program or as instructed on site. Inspections are carried out by MCI Site Engineers and presented to the Main Contractor for approval or comments. The inspection of GRC elements is carried outafter fixing of the panel for the alignment, plumpness' and squareness (with allowable tolerances). After finishing the patching works prior to sealing the joints. After completion of the joint sealants when ready for final hand-over.
