Instructions for iType 2 Controller — Item # 80511

Thank you for purchasing the NYKO iType 2 controller for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system. This multi-function controller combines the superior features of a dual analog controller with the text messaging capabilities of a USB Keyboard. The result is a compact controller that is versatile for all types of gaming. Please take special note of the care instructions. Proper use and maintenance of this item will ensure a long life and problem-free performance. FEATURES Compact, fully functional USB keyboard for text input • 4 programmable text macros for quick and easy communication • Dual Analog control sticks • 8-way directional pad • Ergonomic keyboard makes typing easy and accurate • Eliminates the need for a separate USB keyboard • Play online games without having to juggle keyboard and controller • Extra long 10-foot cable CONNECTION 1. Make sure the PlayStation®2 console is turned OFF. 2. Insert the iType2 controller plug into an empty port on the PlayStation®2 console. 3. Insert the iType2 USB plug into an empty USB port on the PlayStation®2 console. 4. Turn the PlayStation®2 console ON. 5. If the game is “USB Keyboard" compatible, the iType2 keyboard will be recognized by the game system as a USB keyboard. Functions of the keyboard may vary from game to game. Refer to game manual. NOTE: Some games are not compatible with a USB keyboard. Please check for the “USB Keyboard" notice on the software package or in the manual. USING THE TEXT MACRO FUNCTION Please study the keyboard layout shown in Diagram A. At the top of the keyboard is a set of keys labeled [Set], [S1], [S2], [S3] and [S4], followed by the Macro LED

light. These keys are used for setting and triggering the Text Macro function. What is the Text Macro Function? The Text Macro function allows you to record text messages and assign them to the four Macro keys labeled [S1], [S2], [S3] and [S4] - making it extremely fast and easy to send standard messages that you create. For example, if you are chatting with a friend, and would like to say “Hello! How are you?” you can record and assign this message to a Macro key, and then trigger it by simply pressing one key. • Each Macro key can record a maximum of 32 key presses, including spaces (but not including [CAP] or [Fn] key presses) To program a macro statement:

Begin by pressing the [Set] key - the Macro LED will light up. • Press the Macro key ([S1], [S2], [S3] or [S4]) to which you wish to record the message - the Macro LED will blink. • Type your message - the Macro LED will continue blinking. • To finish recording the macro, press the [Set] key and the Macro LED will turn off. The recording will automatically end if the message exceed 32 key presses. For example, to record the message “Hello! How are you?” do the following:

Press the [Set] key - the Macro LED lights up. • Press the [S1] key - the Macro LED blinks. • Press [Cap] [H] [Cap] [E] [L] [L] [O] [Fn] [B] [Fn] = Hello! [Space] [Cap] [H] [Cap] [O] [W] = How [Space] [A] [R] [E] = are [Space] [Y] [O] [U] [Fn] [V] [Fn] = you? - the Macro LED still blinks. • Press the [Set] key - the Text Macro has been recorded and the Macro LED goes out. • To trigger and send the message, press the [S1] key. Refer to the Keyboard on the iType2 controller (Diagram A). You will notice that along with the characters printed on the keys, there are secondary characters assigned to each key. To activate these special characters, press [Fn], then the

key(s) corresponding to the character, number or symbol you wish to use. To deactivate the special characters press [Fn] again. Caps Lock Key [Cap]:

The default setting of any character typing is in small letters (lower case). To activate capital letters (upper case), press the Caps Lock key [Cap] then press the character(s) that you wish to type in capital letters. To return to small letters, press the Caps Lock key [Cap] again. Function Keys F1 through F10 [F1-F10]:

Many games use the F1 through F10 function keys, often as shortcuts. To access them, first press the [Set] key. The LED will turn on. Then press the desired function key (e.g. [W] for [F2]). Press the [Set] key again to return to normal key functions. The LED will turn off. CARE AND MAINTENANCE Please review the following guidelines to ensure optimal performance from the iType2 controller. Failure to follow these guidelines may cause damage to the controller not covered by your NYKO Warranty. • Do not expose this controller to extreme conditions, including direct sunlight or excessive heat and humidity. • Protect the controller from exposure to liquids or small objects of any kind. • Never pull the controller out of a socket by the cord or place excessive force on the cable. • Never use chemicals to clean the controller. If cleaning is necessary, unplug the controller and use a slightly damp cloth to clean the affected area. • Always connect the cord to the game console correctly, with the arrow mark facing up and inserted securely. • Stop use if the controller performs abnormally. NYKO Product Limited Warranty

This NYKO product is warranted to the original purchaser for the normal intended use for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of purchase. If a defect covered under this warranty occurs, NYKO will replace or repair the product or its defective parts, at its option, at no charge. Warranty does not apply to defects resulting from modification or misuse of this product.
