BROCHURE
Date: July 13th, 2013 Course: Comm. 130 Instructor: Brother Lybbert Description: A two sided (duplex) folding brochure. Programs: Adobe InDesign & Adobe Photoshop Objectives: Create a two sided folding brochure. Provide full bleeds and proper dimensions.Use high quality images and resolutions. Incorporate a 250 word message. Process: First I had to get the images I wanted to use for my clothing company so I mostly used pinterest and found the images I liked. Then I had to figure out a color scheme I thought would go well so I took some of the colors from the images I already had and used to eye dropper tool for the brown. I, then, had to figure out what fonts I would use and figured out how I wanted my layout to be with my pictures and body copy. Finally, I used text wrap on my image I edited in Photoshop. Lastly, I printed out my project, cut it to make it full bleed, and folded it.

FLiER
Date: May 11th, 2013 Course: Comm. 130 Instructor: Brother Lybbert Description: A black and white promotional filer to promote a gradute leadership conference. Programs: Adobe InDesign Objectives: Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography. Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout. Create a project folder with image, logo, and InDesign document to keep links intact. Process: I used I-Learn to make sure I had all the requirements. At first it was really hard for me to get the hang of In Design but Im starting to get it. I fixed all the spelling errors on the text given to me. At first, a lot of my flier was centered but I talked to a few people in the class and they helped me realize it would look better if it was aligned to the left or right. I changed my fonts to make them contrast and I also decided to align all the text to the left side. I also made the photo centered so that the flier wasnt all left aligned.

Event ad
Date: May 18th, 2013 Course: Comm. 130 Instructor: Brother Lybbert Description: A color ad to promote The Cake Place only using Microsoft Word and a scanner. Programs: Microsoft Word Objectives: Find, scan and import a high quality image. Create a full bleed design. Process: I looked through all the magazines in our classroom and found a picture of this delicious cake. I then scanned it and had to work with it a little bit. I added it to my Microsoft Word document and started adding text boxes to emphasize the text. I then chose fonts that would contrast each other and aligned the text to the right. I also had to make sure it had a full bleed at the bottom of the page.

Montage
Date: May 30th, 2013 Course: Comm. 130 Instructor: Brother Lybbert Description:Picked three images that had the same theme and did my best to blend them together with photoshop. Programs: Adobe Photoshop Objectives: Learn to manage photoshop layers. Learn to blend together images smoothly, using masks. Use filters. Process: Picked the three photos I wanted to use. I cropped the background image. Applied the sharpening filter. Figured out that I needed to press the layer mask button before trying to blend the images. Took me a while, but I figured out how to use the soft edge brush to blend the images. Also added the font on the bottom right and chose two fonts that contrasted each other.

logos
Date: June 8th, 2013 Course: Comm. 130 Instructor: Brother Lybbert Description: Three different variations of logos for one company. Programs: Adobe Illustrator Objectives: Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image. Design consistent layouts for a business card and letter head. Use the basic tools of Illustrator and InDesign. Process: The first thing I had to do was brainstorm and figure out a company I wanted to make logos for. Once I did that, I messed around with Adobe Illustrator and figured out three ways that I could make different looking logos. I sketched out a few things to see what would look good with the words Beach Bum.

letterhead
Date: June 15th, 2013 Course: Comm. 130 Instructor: Brother Lybbert Description: Design a letterhead for a company of your own or another person. Programs: Adobe Illustrator and InDesign Objectives: Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image. Design consistent layouts for a business card and letter head. Use the basic tools of Illustrator and InDesign. Process: I started with figuring out what a good logo would be for a clothing company. I found a font I liked and started with that then I added a line in the middle and instead of writing the word and I used the & sign which gave it a cool look. I then messed around and tried to figure out what would look good for a letterhead. I started out with just one pink line and then I decided to add a purple like right next to it. This gave it contrast and more color.

business card
Date: June 15th, 2013 Course: Comm. 130 Instructor: Brother Lybbert Description: Design a business card for a company of your own or another person. Programs: Adobe Illustrator and InDesign Objectives: Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image. Design consistent layouts for a business card and letter head. Use the basic tools of Illustrator and InDesign. Process: For the business card I wanted a sentence that helped people understand what I was trying to sell, so I thought to say that the clothing company was for men and women. I already had my layout for my letterhead so I just took some ideas from that and matched them so they would look alike. I then had to transfer all of my projects over to InDesign which was not easy and I had a hard time doing but I finally figured it out.

webpage
Date: June 28th, 2013 Course: Comm. 130 Instructor: Brother Lybbert Description: A personalized logo designed and placed on a customized webpage. Programs: Adobe Photoshop and Sublime Text Objectives: Size and optimize an original logo as a .png for a webpage. Write content to describe the process of creating the logo and how it appeals to a target audience. Use HTML to display the logo with content. Use CSS to style the webpage. Use hex colors. Process: I was very confused on HTML/CSS so I asked someone in class who knew a lot about both of those things which was very helpful. I was able to customize my webpage by changing the colors, and fonts. I also took out the bullet points. I tried to use colors that would go well with my logo and my audience. I then had to take a screenshot and figure out how to size my screenshot right.

IMAGING
Date: May 25th, 2013 Course: Comm. 130 Instructor: Brother Lybbert Description: A personally taken photograph that has been edited/formatted using photoshop. Programs: Adobe Photoshop Objectives: Learn how to use the Quick Selection tool. Learn how to saturate images. Learn how to use filters. Process: I first took a few different photos for this assignment. Then I placed it into Photoshop and started messing around with saturation and deciding which part of the image should be saturated and which part of it should stay in color. I then used the Quick Selection tool and selected the outlines of the little girl and plants in my photo. I then inverted it and saturated it so that the girl and plants were colored, but the background was black and white. I also added a little bit of brightness and contrast and colorized a bit to the little girl and plants to make them pop more. Then I saved and exported them in the different formats.
