]Channel estimation analysis in MIMOOFDM wireless systems

In modern wireless communication systems, a combination of multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) system with the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technique can be used to achieve high data rate and & better spectral efficiency. A Channel estimation technique using pilot carriers for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems for a Rayleigh fading channel is proposed in this paper. The channel estimation is carried out with conventional Least Square (LS) and Minimum Mean Square (MMSE) estimation algorithms. The performance of MIMO-OFDM system is evaluated on the basis of Bit Error Rate (BER) and Mean Square Error (MSE) level.

2.]Performance analysis of a MIMO-OFDM wireless communication system with convolutional coding

The bit error rate (BER) performance analysis of an OFDM wireless communication system is carried out considering the effect of fading and multipath dispersion. Analysis is extended to include multiple-input and multiple output (MIMO) transceiver configuration to combat the effect of fading. Further, forward error correction coding such as convolutional coding (CC) is also applied to improve the BER of a MIMO-OFDM system. Significant improvement in receiver performance is obtained by numerical computation. The analytical results are found to be in good agreement with the simulation results reported earlier.

3.]Research and Simulation of MIMOOFDM Wireless Communication System

A simple MIMO-OFDM wireless communication system is constructed based on the analysis of the technical principles and the system models of the MIMO technology and the OFDM technology. The system combines the MIMO system and the OFDM system together, space-time coding is done in the transmitter firstly, the signal is launched after OFDM modulated, and the process of the receiver is the inverse process of the transmitter. The system performance is simulated by using the software MATLAB, the experimental result shows that the MIMO-OFDM wireless communication system has better performance when the antenna number is very large and the other conditions are identical, but the system performance will reduce if the carrier number increases.

4.]Compensation of nonlinear distortion in MIMO OFDM wireless communication systems

This paper presents analysis of nonlinear distortion and crosstalk compensation in Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) OFDM wireless transmitters. This paper demonstrates that nonlinear crosstalk affects the performance of digital predistorter and it cannot be compensated by the conventional Memory Polynomial digital predistortion technique. Also, it has been shown that proposed CO-DPD technique can compensate the effect of nonlinear crosstalk in 22 MIMO OFDM wireless transmitters.

5.]Throughput maximizing feedback for MIMO OFDM based wireless communication systems
Currently evolving wireless communication systems (e.g. LTE-A, WiMAX) are based on linearly precoded MIMO OFDM and utilize adaptive modulation and coding to adjust the code rate and modulation alphabet to the current channel conditions. For this purpose the transmitter requires channel knowledge, which is provided by means of receiver feedback, utilizing the rank, precoding matrix and channel quality indicators. This work presents algorithms for computing these feedback values. Our algorithms choose the rank and precoding matrix indicators to maximize the estimated user throughput, whereas the channel quality indicator is chosenmore conservatively to satisfy a given upper bound on the block error ratio. We demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithms by means of link level simulations and comparison to theoretical bounds on the achievable throughput.

6.]Preamble-based SNR estimation algorithm for wireless MIMO OFDM systems

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) offers high data rates and robust performance in frequency selective channels by link adaptation utilizing information about the channel quality. Combined with multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technique it provides improved link reliability and increased data rate. A crucial parameter required for adaptive transmission is the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). In this paper, we propose a novel SNR

estimation algorithm for wireless 2times2 MIMO OFDM systems based on the reuse of the synchronization preamble. The periodic structure of the preamble is utilized for the computationally efficient estimation of average SNR and SNRs per subcarrier, based on the second-order moments of received preamble samples. The performance of the proposed algorithm is assessed for channels with different levels of frequency selectivity. Simulation results show robust performance of proposed algorithm even in strong frequency selective channels.

7.]Performance of multi-user MIMO OFDM system with adaptive modulation and coding for wireless communications
As the demand of high quality service in next generation wireless communication systems, a high performance of data transmission requires an increase of spectrum efficiency and an improvement of error performance in wireless communication systems. In this paper, we propose a multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system with adaptive modulation and coding to improve system capacity with maintaining good error performance. The results of computer simulation show the improvement of system capacity in Rayleigh fading channel.

8.]Linear adaptive channel equalization for multiuser MIMO-OFDM systems

Linear adaptive channel equalization using the least mean square (LMS) algorithm and the recursive least-squares (RLS) algorithm for an innovative multi-user (MU) MIMO-OFDM wireless broadband communications system is proposed. The proposed equalization method adaptively compensate the channel impairments caused by frequency selectivity in the propagation environment. Simulations for the proposed adaptive equalizer, are conducted using a training sequence method to determine optimal performance through a comparative analysis. Results show an improvement of 0.15 in BER (at a SNR of 16 dB) when using Adaptive Equalization and RLS algorithm compared to the case in which no equalization is employed. In general, adaptive equalization using LMS and RLS algorithms showed to be significantly benefitial for MU-MIMO-OFDM systems.

9.]Information capacity of adaptive MIMO OFDM wireless communication systems

In this paper, the mathematical analysis supported by computer simulation is used to find the information capacity of adaptive MIMO OFDM in digital

communication systems. Result shows that in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel, the capacity performance of Least mean square (LMS) is poor while the recursive least square (RLS) shows an increase in capacity as the SNR increases. The joint channel parameters estimation in adaptive MIMO OFDM shows a 2dB SNR gain at BER of 10-5 when compared to individual parameter estimation.
