ESSENTIAL BELIEFS The Bible

The Bible is Gods special revelation to humanity, centering on the glory of Gods grace through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Therefore, as the word of God, the Bible alone is our ultimate authority for all of life, theologically, devotionally and practically.

Faith
People are reconciled to God, not by their own good works, but through faith alone in the good works of Jesus. Therefore, someone becomes a Christian not by doing for God, but by receiving from God.

Grace
Salvation being through faith alone means that people are reconciled to God by grace alone through the substitutionary death of Jesus. Therefore, the Christians standing before God is a gift, not a reward.

Jesus
Our only hope of forgiveness, righteousness, and eternal life is only gained through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, not by any merit or effort of our own.

The Glory of God

The goal of our theology is that God alone would receive the glory for redeeming, adopting and empowering sinners with new life. Therefore, there is no room for selfrighteousness in the gospel, but only for boasting in the cross of Jesus. For a more in-depth survey of our theological orientation, check out the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms and/or our extended theological summary on the Creekstone website. The Creekstone ofce is located on the Historic Square at 40-B Public Square South just above the Mass Bay Trading Company. The mailing address is PO Box 1234, Dahlonega, GA, 30533.

Message 3 of 5 A People Portfolio: Investing in Your Primary Relationships
TODAYS KEY BIBLE PASSAGES:
Mark 3:13-14, 13 Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. 14 He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach. (NIV) Acts 4:13, When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. (NIV) Get Connected

STAY IN THE CURRENT

The Get Connected card in the bulletins are for you to ll out and place in the offering basket after the message. Let us know you were here! Our offering goes to support the ministry of the gospel locally through Creekstone, regionally through our church planting partnerships, and globally thorough the missionary families we support overseas in India and Africa. Your giving is making a difference! Two Service Sundays Begin August 18th! To accommodate our typical fall surge in Sunday attendance, starting August 18th, we will offer two services through September 22, one at 9:00 a.m. and the other at 10:45 a.m. The services will be identical except that GraceKids will only meet during the second service. If you are a regular at Creekstone, please consider attending the early service, which not only will open up much needed seating space, but also will provide a great opportunity to welcome and greet the many new folks who will be joining us. New Sermon Series Begins August 18: THE GOOD LIFE This 8-week sermon series will reveal Gods design for the abundant lifea design that comes directly from the teaching of Jesus. Since Jesus description of the good life is so counterintuitive to our common, cultural way of thinking, what we will discover about the good life may surprise you, and may change you in ways that you never imagined to be possible. So,be sure to join us in August and September as we pursue The Good Life! Sexual Recovery Group for Spouses

A LISTENING GUIDE FOR TODAYS MESSAGE: Main idea: Many of us are committed to investing for our nancial futures with diversied stock portfolios. But what about our people portfolios? Jesus teaches us that an even more signicant and longer lasting investment is in our primary relationships and shows us what it looks like to build these relationship portfolios, where the investment strategy is not diversication, but focus. In other words, when investing in people, deep is better than wide. In relationships, maybe we should put all of our eggs in one basket. After all, although Jesus ministered to the masses, he invested in just a few. I. Focus on a _____________________.

II. Share _____________________ Together. III. Go _____________________.

Laurie Boerman, with Access Grace Counseling, will be leading a 16-week recovery/support group at the Creekstone Ofces for those whose spouses are struggling with a sexual addiction. The group begins the rst week of September. Cost: $400. For more information, please contact Laurie at 470-253-0950 or via email at laurieb@accessgrace.com. Laurie also will be holding ofce hours this year at the Creekstone ofces for personal, marriage and family counseling. Ministry Teams: Get in the Game! If you are not serving on a Ministry Team, we need you! So get in the game by signing up on the Get in the Game form and put it in the offering basket after the message.

A Challenge: Decide who is in your __________________ and __________________ in them.

QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION & DISCUSSION:

1) Who are the few in whom God has called you to invest relationally? 2) What are doing in an intentional, practical way to share your life with these few? 3) How deep into the heart have you ventured with your few? What would it look like for you to go deeper into the heart as you invest your life in a few? Next Weeks Message: How to Best Invest Your Time
