DISCOVER PRE-CAST CONCRETE IN CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRIES There are many reasons why precast concrete is the ideal solution.

Here are following advantages by using Pre-Cast: 1. Better Quality Control. 2. Strength The strength of precast concrete gradually increases over time. 3. Durability - Precast concrete products can provide a service life in excess of 100 years. 4. Fire Resistance Pre-cast concrete is non-combustible. 5. UV Sensitivity - Unlike some other materials, precast concrete does not degrade from exposure to sunlight. This is extremely beneficial for above-ground applications. 6. Chemical Resistance - Precast concrete is resistant to most substances. Precast concrete products can be designed to withstand anticipated corrosive agents. 7. Modularity - Because of the modular nature of many precast concrete products, structures or systems of nearly any size can be accommodated. 8. Aesthetics Precast concrete can be shaped and moulded into an endless array of sizes and configurations. Precast concrete can also be produced in virtually any colour and a wide variety of finishes to achieve the desired appearance for building. 9. Availability - Since precast structures are manufactured in advance and stored at the plant, they are readily available when needed at the job site. 10. Environmentally Friendly - It is nontoxic, environmentally safe and composed of natural. 11. Efficiency Precast concrete arrive at the jobsite ready to install. There is no need to order raw materials and no need to expend time setting up forms, placing concrete or waiting for the concrete to cure. 12. Low Maintenance - Precast concrete requires little or no maintenance, which makes it an ideal choice for nearly any design solution. But Pre-Cast concrete construction also has following DISADVANTAGES, such as: 1. Very heavy members. 2. Camber in beams and slabs. 3. Very small margin for error. 4. Connections may be difficult. 5. Somewhat limited building design flexibility. 6. Because panel size is limited, precast concrete cannot be used for two-way structural systems.

7. Economics of scale demand regularly shaped buildings. 8. Need for repetition of forms will affect building design. 9. Joints between panels are often expensive and complicated. 10. Skilled workmanship is required in the application of the panel on site. 11. Cranes are required to lift panels.

TYPES OF UNITS IN PRE-CAST CONCRETE 1. Service Unit: Precast units are usually used to make the dividing wall and cladding (pelapisan). It is used because its lightweight and easy transport. For the construction of cladding, its height is from floor to floor and fitted in detail and repeatedly. For installation this service unit, its supported at a level to provide a movement was mainly due to temperature and shrinkage and also movement of the structure. This structural movement is generated by the loading on the floor and foundation settling. 2. Structure Unit: It consists of a wall base load, beam, columns, floors and stairs. The overall structure of these units is built to meet building specifications. Precast structures are designed to take a less rigid (tegar) connection between the structures built with concrete cast in situ. Each unit shall be designed as a not continuous and connected to the end. For buildings, high rigidity can be achieved with the central room containing lifts, emergency stairs, toilets and building services. PREPARATION METHOD OF PRE-CAST CONCRETE METHOD FOR MANUFACTURED OF PRE-CAST CONCRETE Lift slab method is a construction system that is increasingly popular for used in Pre-Cast. Its used for constructs office buildings, hotels, parking and structures that form the framework of a similar level to other floors. Through this method, the slab floor and roof are built from the ground level in layer after layer.

Mould is mounted on the side of the slab and floor surface that will accommodate the column structure. Before the concreting work done, the rebar being extended to all parts of the slab according to the required design strength. Special collar (relang) is fitted on the slab sections that put opening in order to provide easiest work, while raising slab from the ground level to other required level.
