The IEEE student branch of

Delhi Technological University (formerly Delhi College of Engineering) presents its annual technical fest

TROIKA 11
Over the years, Troika has emerged as one of the biggest technical festivals in India. This year Troika will be held from 22nd to 25th February 2011.

Events at TROIKA: An Overview

RADIX
INTRODUCTION Robotics is the engineering of robots along with their design, manufacture, application, and structural disposition. The ultimate robot-engineering test, this event consists of either digitally operated or programmable robot or mechanically controlled robots. It involves the coming together of various contests, each individually testing the robotics skills of participants in solving predefined problems in robot design. Radix comprises of four events: Wild Weasel OBJECTIVE The object is to engineer a mechanical bot that can complete the racing track on land. CONTACT

ENVISION
INTRODUCTION Envision is a software development competition that aims at extracting ingenious ideas from participants who use them in evolving potentially path- breaking concepts. The event is subdivided into two categories: 1. Dexterity (Predefined category) Problem Statement Osama returns from the dead and wants revenge. He now wants to communicate with his sleeper cells around the world and plan an attack. But he has to make sure no one else gets it and hence, will like to send it in an encrypted form. He's recruited you for the job. Design a system with encryption and decryption modules for the text message. You would be evaluated on: 1. Creativity (probability of the message getting cracked) 2. Implementation of the algorithm/technique 3. Robustness of the system 4. Presentation The software shall be judged based on the performance of algorithm used in the software, interpretation and implementation of the problem statement, taking into consideration the efficiency and adaptability of the algorithm used. The prepared software (on CD or by email) along with abstract is required to be submitted by 8th February 2011 2. Ingenuity (Open category) Software designed by students are invited under this category. There are no specifications for this category. It is simply a competition of creativity, innovation and ingenuity. Entries are invited for software conceptualized, designed and coded by the participants.

INTRODUCTION This event requires a confluence of logical reasoning, circuit conception and simultaneous hardware development. It encourages students to come up with new designs or products, and improvements and enhancements in existing technology without professional help. Events under Brainwave: BRAVADO Bravado is an electronic junkyard. It involves on the spot formulation of "BEST OUT OF WASTE". The participants have to clear the preliminary round and qualify for the problem statements which have to be solved on there and then i.e. on the competition day. ACUMEN Let your skills be showcased. you in searching relevant alternatives which not only bring in esteem but also outwit the opponent. The three different predefined problem statements are presented below.

KHUL JA SIM SIM Everywhere in the world the main causes of high levels of worries is the increase in the theft. So to empower you to protect your world and your belongings, this time brainwaves give you an opportunity to design and engineer a high technology electronic lock. ABRA KA DABRA Tomorrow is the world of walking and talking smart computers with visual and auditory senses. Computer vision and image processing is what makes it possible. To give you a taste of it here's presenting to you the gesture controlled mouse. UDAN KHATOLA Fly High.. Everybody dreams of heights....... Zooming up in the sky and reaching up to zenith has occurred to all. So widen up your vistas and make a glider that challenges your line of sight and take it as far as your horizon of imagination goes......

PLETHORA Since time immemorial the human race has leapt into an advanced age by exhibiting the power of its ideas. But an idea without action is as pointless as a spear without a tip. A powerful idea after transformation into a useful entity has the gains the potential to bring about a revolution. Thus, we invite your entries for Plethora The Open Hardware Symposium which will serve as a platform for the participants to display their electronic hardware. Plethora will witness the convergence of the best technical brains from all over the country. Come and display the original, the unconventional and the untrodden. BITS AND BOTS

INTRODUCTION Real programmers don't comment their code. If it was hard to write, it should be hard to understand. It is the programming fiesta, which is sure to test the coding limits of each and every programmer. Assessing the participants are two events:
BITS - On the Spot programming contest This event will test the logical and quick thinking ability of the person, keeping in mind the various programming strategies involved. A set of problems is released and the participants are required to solve

them within a specified time frame.

The registrations will be on the spot and people can register in groups of two. The event shall be held on a two-tier base, where the first round (prelims) shall be an elimination round. Qualifying teams will engage in a subsequent programming round, where the focus is not only in solving the given problems, but to do so in the most efficient of ways, details of which will be provided on the spot.

Bots - Artificial Intelligence Programming Challenge

This event tests the analytical and logical skills of the participants. An innovative game will be released here. Participants have to write codes to decide the moves of their bots. Solutions have to be coded in "C/C++". Each Team can comprise of at the most two members. The bots will be tested on the spot and they will have to compete against each other.

Mist is an online code-breaking game/treasure hunt which is going to be a part of TROIKA 2011. OBJECTIVE The aim of the event is to go ahead armed with your creativity and resourcefulness. You may need to learn new skills or research some information to get ahead, but the event is not a GK quiz and no trivia knowledge would be expected from the participants. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS Use your creativity and common sense to get to the answers. Use your search engine to find out about anything you do not know. But this game will reward those who can patiently figure out the logic rather than try/search anything that comes to mind. Be sure to check every page element (the title, URL and html source) of each level for hints to get ahead. Email: mist@dcetech.com
