Dear Brethren,

We praise the Lord for your faithful support and generous gifts. We recently received a letter from a church in Ohio asking about our financial
situation, aiid we thought perhaps you'd like to know about it, too. Our eleven supporting churches send a total of $600 fjer month. This amount

varies slightly, depending on whether the congregation gives a percentage of its total budget or a set amount. It is also higher some months due to individuals
within the churches designating gifts for us.

Our monthly budget includes the following: $217.76 - travel expense to tlie U.S. in May 1978; $200 - payment on loan for travel 1975; $168.44 - payment on education loan; $240 - groceries; $40 - utilities; $58.29 - insurance; $100 -

car expense and insurance; $55 - child care & preschool for Carolyn; $54.22 car payment. Total: $1,133.71. The first two items will be paid off by Jvuie.

We praise our Lord.

Jamie would receive his transcript in time to graduate, but we believe that this must be paid, too, before we leave. You can see that we have no extra from the $600 we receive monthly to pay a $168.44 monthly note. One church has already

given $200 toward this, and we trust that you may wish to share in this, too.

Jamie graduates from high school May 23 and plans 'to work in Joplin this
summer. He may go to OBC next fall, or he may decide to work a year. He hasn't

Sharon will finish her sophomore year and return with us to the Philii^pines. She has an invitation to spend some time this summer with a good friend of hers, Michele Morgan, in Terre ilaute, IN while we travel. Carolyn, of course, will be
with us in our travels and will be ready for kindergarten next year in Aparri.

We want to leave Joplin about May 25 to begin traveling to speak about tlie Philippines. We've been able to do some this year, but it's been limited. Pray
for us that the Lord will help us raise the amount v;e need and be effective in
talking about the Philippines.

Dear friends in Christ,

In just two and a half months v/e'll be back in the Philippines again, ready to begin our 15th year there. What a lot of decisions and activities will fall in that short time! Already we're beginning the process of sorting out and packing ... along with a schedule that includes going to work, speaking in the churches, homemaking, chauffering - you all know a family's varied demands. The whole thought of leaving projects a vision of Carolyn, Sharon, Sid, and me leaving Berta, Scott Jamie behind. That is where the breath stops and the mind turns off the picture - even though we know it WILL happen - we WILL adjust - life WILL go on, and the Lord WILL enable. IF YOU PRAY) For prayer is what this letter is about. One of the highlights of this year has been meeting with the "Prayer for Asia" group once a week. It has been thrilling to hear how God has worked in people 10,000 miles away, as we prayed for specific needs and problemSo So it was among this intimate circle of friends that I mentioned some of our financial burdens: our need for $2,000 for travel back to the Philippines this

year 6-about$1,000 to pay the balance of the $1800 loan we secured from the 1st Nat'l
Bank to pay the rest of our children's education expenses at Faith Academy last year. All this BEFORE WE LEAVE IN JULY! They asked me about our jobs this year, and I told them Sid is paying off our travel costs from last May; and my salary goes to pay for travel expenses from 1975both of which will be cleared by the time we leave.

I shouldn't have been surprised at the results of that prayer requestGod has been changing lives all year through prayer. But I'll admit I am happily stunned at

the answer He is giving. $1,639 has come in through the Lord's Reapers (student mission group of OBC), and I'm confident the other $360 will be supplied according to the
Lord's leading. Another $300 was sent for the education loan, and I believe the Lord will take care of that, too. He knows v/e can't pay $168,44 a month towards that bank loan out of the $600-700 v/e receive monthly. Praise His Name! He is great!
With all the mention of "funds, money, loans, " we want you to know our true request is PRAYER, If you pray that God will provide what we need in these specific areas, then HE WILL PROVIDE, Maybe through you! maybe through someone else! But He WILL do it, as we give Him the glory in advance. Please pray with us right now - ASKING
then PRAISING 5 GIVING THANKS because HE SURELY WILL DO what is best and wisest. We

can rest in that, even when material evidence seems to prove otherwise.

Especially do

we need prayer for WISDOM, for His ENABLING as we leave our three oldest children, for SAFETY, for our SURRENDER to His will in specific actions, for GODSPEED.
Our plans are to travel north and east to speak in churches from May 25 - June 17; final departure from Joplin the week of June 18, speaking enroute to the West Coast, If possible; leaving Los Angeles the week of July 1 on a budget flight for Manila.
We praise His Name for you - for your friendship - your love and concern - and in advance, we praise Him for your prayers which hold us up to Him. Let us hear from you.
Yours in Christ,
