TEACHING PLAN ON COUGH, COLDS, AND FEVER

I. DESCRIPTION OF THE LEARNER: She is a 30 year old, mother of 3 and a resident of Motorpool, Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet and a native of Sayangan, Atok, Benguet. She is a Roman Catholic and a college graduate and currently working as a Government Employee of the Department of Public Works and Highways-La Trinidad. She is able to understand English, Tagalog, Ibalio, and Kankana-ey. She preferred to use Ilokano as a medium of instruction during the health teaching. II. LEARNING NEED: She wants to learn about the management of cough, colds, and fever to infants. III. LEARNING DIAGNOSIS: Readiness for enhance knowledge: management on cough, colds, and fever related to verbalization of mother IV. TIME ALLOTMENT: 20 minutes V. TEACHING PLAN PROPER:

LEARNING CONTENT FEVER Increase in the normal body temperature It can be worrying to parents but it is manageable CAUSES: Dehydration Infection Hot environment Inflammation Reaction from vaccination SIGNS: poor sleeping lack of interest in play lethargy convulsion or seizure poor oral intake temperature of 37.5 and above MANAGEMENT remove extra clothing do sponge bath using lukewarm water open windows for cool air to enter dress the child with light clothing give fluids for hydration if possible remove diapers

WHEN TO SEEK FOR A PHYSICIAN: poor oral intae lethargy restlessness problems in breathing such as nasal flaring, use of accessory muscle rashes occurred occurrence of signs of dehydration such as poor skin turgor, sunken eyeballs, and others
