What are specic examples or statistics that show that there is little change?
what did the laws specically target/do? How was it carried out? I focused too much on laws and the present, for HA essay, I should add more about how it began and the change thats occurred over time and connect that to why it remains a problem today
Anti-Trafficking Law
2000
In 2004 there was a joint anti-trafficking initiative between Myanmar, Cambodia, Burma, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand. In 2008, the Thai government issued the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act B.E. 2551
About one million women from China, Burma, Laos and Vietnam have been sold into Thailands sex industry.
1990
Major Increase
In 1991, thai women would be sold to Japan for $2,400-18,000 each. In 1997, it was reported that 60% o all trafficked victims are young girls under 18 who are forced into the sex industry.
PUBLIC ACTION NGO- Its known that poverty and lack of education is a contributor to the sex trade, some NGOs provide education about the sex industry to teach women and girls so they can choose other paths to make money.

GOVERNMENT-the Thai government passed the Entertainment Places Act, aiming to regulate the places that prostitutes were found working by obtaining a license from the police before they could attend to male customers

The Root
Around the time of the Vietnam war, there was an inux of American soldiers serving overseas. This opened up areas such as massage parlors and brothels which gave women jobs. Public Opinion- thought of it as a job opportunity.
