CHAPTER 2

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

The information needed to develop the system was gathered and discussed during the data gathering procedure and interviews. Prior to this information collected, the developers were able to conceptualize the output design of the Computerized Church Service Management for the Immaculate Conception Parish. 2.1 Introduction Concepts and theories are applied to create the computerized church service system. The system needs these theories for its rapid development so that we can come up with an efficient computerized system that can pass the standards of the Immaculate Conception Parish.

2.2

Relational Database Model The user perceives tables in a relational database model which stores data in relations. Each relation is composed of records and attributes or fields. To access data in two or more different tables the developers follow the concept of relational database model in designing the database to organize the records and avoid data redundancy and have an efficient way of information retrieval producing data integrity and consistency.

2.3

Computer-Based Information System The complementary networks of hardware/software that people and organizations use to collect, filter, and process, create, and distribute data (computing) are called computer-based information systems It is used today to track within the computer science field studying computers and algorithmic processes, including their software & hardware designs, principles, impact on society and their applications. To have functions that will function with the help of the data of the other functions and some, using the data on its own, and the developers created related functions that will answer these necessities. The said functions are integrated with one another to distribute valuable information.

2.4

Parallel Strategy Conversion is the process of changing or converting the old system into the new. Anyway you implement the conversion you must document the good and bad during the process to identify benchmarks and fix problems. Conversion also includes the training of all personnel that are required to use the system to perform their job. Parallel strategy is when both old and new systems are run together until the new one functions correctly (this is the safest approach since you do not lose the old system until the new one is bug free).

Summary Computer - Based Information System concept is applied in the system to develop a detailed program in the computerized church service system. In order to normalize system and produce relationships among the tables, Relational Database Management concept is used. And to make sure that the data gathered during the implementation of this software would still be intact, parallel strategy would be carried out so that all valuable information is still recoverable just in case either technology didnt work out.
