Game Overview
Your primary weapon is a 30 mm Antiaircraft Gun (AA). This gun can knock down aircraft and decimate enemy troops pouring onto your beach. Use the spacebar to toggle between the AA and AT guns. Your next weapon is the 76 mm Antitank Gun (AT). It is most effective against surface targets such as tanks, barges, and troop transports. It has an area of effect spray when it detonates on land, making it great for destroying clusters of troops on the beach. If you become desperate, you can resort to your .45 Caliber Pistol. This handgun is only effective against troops. Use the G key to access the handgun. The Missles are primarily used as surface-to-air-weapons, and will lock onto flying targets when aimed in the air at one. When aimed at the ground, missles will travel a straight line until they reach an object and explode. Use the M key to fire a missle. A Resupply Plane will fly overhead at scheduled intervals and drop ammunition for your weapons and shielding for your bunker. To get the supplies, you must shoot the boxes dropped from the resupply plane. Note: Dont shoot your resupply plane, or you wont see it again for the rest of the level! Resupply Plane 7

Enemy Weapon Information

Armored Personell Carrier (APC) APCs are designed to protect ground units from small arms fire. They do not carry any weapons, and are adept at placing troops behind you. They are vulnerable to your cannon fire. Soldier Soldiers are the most vulnerable to your firepower, but can be lethal in their numbers. Up close, they will not only fire their rifles at you, they will lob devastating grenades at your shields. Fire your AA at them or fire your cannon for group damage. Troop Choppers Troop choppers will carry troops behind your position and at very close range, making them lethal indeed. They are bulky and slow, carrying no defensive weapons, and make excellent targets for your AA gun and missles.

Barges Troop barges carry soldiers, tanks and APCs to the beachhead and dispatch them. They are immune to AA fire but the heavy shells from your AT cannon are devastating, and will destroy them as well as their cargo if you time it right. 9

Tank Tanks are designed to protect troops and inflict heavy damage with their cannons. They are well armored and only vulnerable to your AT gun or missles.

Fighter Jet Fighter jets are fast and nimble, making them hard to hit. They will drop both of their 500 pound bombs, and are equipped with a rapid-fire 30 caliber machine gun. Missles are the best weapon against them.

Heavy Bomber Heavy Bombers are high altitude aircraft that will drop 16 bombs on you. They are slow moving but their altitude makes them hard to hit. Use your AA gun and missles to take them down.

Attack Helicopter Attack helicopters provide excellent cover fire for ground units, and are loaded with an arsenal of 10 rockets and a heavy 30 caliber machine gun. Their small profile makesit hard to hit these lethal birds or prey, but they are vulnerable to AA barrages, missles and even AT fire.

Tips and Troubleshooting

Prioritizing targets effectively is the key to passing difficult levels. Learn what to destroy first by what will do the most damage the fastest. Develop strategies and techniques to finish the levels. Conserve your ammunition for the most necessary targets, then finish off the remaining enemies. Those ground units may look weak but if they get close to your bunker, they will let loose a lethal volley of grenades. Use the Artillery strike to clear a beach while you finish off the bigger targets. Remember to save your game often! From the game screen hit ESC to exit you to the main menu and click on Save Game. If you are experiencing choppy graphics, change your video settings to a lower resolution from the OPTIONS button on the main menu, or in the game use the 2, 3, or 4 keys to adjust screen size and details. Some sound cards need to have the 3D sound acceleration turned off for Beachhead 2000 to work properly. To do this open your PROGRAM FILES folder (found on your primary hard drive) then the DirectX folder and the Setup folder. Click on the DxDiag icon, and then click on the SOUND tab. Slide the arrow on HARDWARE SOUND ACCELERATION LEVEL to NONE. Click SAVE ALL INFORMATION, then EXIT to close the dialogue box. Restart the game.
