A.

Maintain optimum conditions of temperature as recommended by manufacturer for 24 hours before, during and after application of sprayed fireproofing. Maintain nontoxic, unpolluted working area. Provide sufficient ventilation to allow for drying of fireproofing during and subsequent to application.

B. 2.8

WARRANTY A. Provide 5 year warranty. Applied fireproofing to remain free from cracks, checking, dusting, flaking, spalling, separation, and blistering. Reinstall or repair such defects or failures.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 MATERIALS A. General: 1. B. Provide spray-applied fireproofing for steel structure elements as indicated on Drawings

Fireproofing material shall comply with the following requirements as a minimum: Density (Avg): 240 kg/m3 per ASTM E 605 Bond Strength: 16.2 KPa per ASTM E 736 Compression: 68.9 NPa per ASTM E 761 Bond Impact: No cracking, spalling or delamination, per ASTM E 761 Deflection: No cracking, spalling or delamination, per ASTM E 759 Corrosion: Not contributing to corrosion of steel, per ASTM E 937

C.

Spray-Applied Fireproofing: 1. Provide spray-applied fireproofing in accordance with the following requirements: a. Manufacturer's standard product; factory blended cementitious fireproofing; suitable for application on structural steel members (columns, beams, joists) as shown on Drawings. Fireproofing material shall comply with the requirements listed above for the deflection, bond impact, cohesion and adhesion, air erosion, corrosion resistance, surface burning characteristics, and compressive strength. Sides of structural steel members (columns, beams, joists) that shall receive sprayed fireproofing shall not be shop-primed and shall be delivered to site mill finished. Rating: Unless otherwise indicated on drawings, provide 2 hours fireproofing rating. Fireproofing materials shall be free of asbestos or any asbestos

contamination. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. B. C. D. Verify that substrate surfaces are ready to receive work. Confirm compatibility of surfaces to receive fireproofing materials. Verify clips, hangers, supports, sleeves, and other items required to penetrate fireproofing are in place before application. Verify ducts, piping, equipment, or other items which would interfere with application of fireproofing are not positioned until fireproofing work is completed.

3.2 PREPARATION A. B. C. D. Remove incompatible materials which affect bond. Fill voids and cracks in substrate, remove projections and level where sprayed fireproofing is exposed to view as finish material. Protect adjacent surfaces and equipment from damage by over-spray fallout, and dusting. Close off and seal ductwork in areas where fireproofing is being applied.

3.3 APPLICATION A. B. C. Surface to receive fireproofing shall be free of oil, dirt, grease, paints or primers. Equipment, mixing and application of materials shall be in strict compliance with manufacturer's written instructions and recommendations. Apply fireproofing in sufficient thickness to achieve rating with as many passes as necessary to cover with monolithic blanket of uniform density and texture. Tamp fireproofing after application to provide dense smooth surface. Repair and patch cracked and damaged areas as recommended by manufacturer.

D.

3.4 CLEANING AND PROTECTION A. B. C. Remove excess material, over-spray, droppings, and debris. Remove fireproofing from materials and surfaces not specifically required to be fireproofed. Protect applied sprayed fireproofing from damage. END OF SECTION
