tion. Interactive computer games are part of the issue today though it was not in 1978. Nevertheless, all points made in this article are good today. Many of you will ask What would we do without television and video games? Here is a partial list: 1. Have family conversations on a variety of subjects. 2. Take walks, identifying birds and plants along the way. 3. Plant and care for a garden. 4. Learn to play a musical instrument and form a family musical group. 5. Visit friends and family. 6.Take art lessons. Paint, draw, sculpt! 7. Develop a hobby that requires a lot of concentration and learning new skills. 8. Have your family learn a foreign language together. 9. Play board games, card games. Get a ping-pong table and pool table and play these games together with friends and family. Use your imaginations. There are so many better things to do in life than to watch television. So then you are probably asking, How will I get the news? The news on television is controlled by the government. It consists of what the government tells the media it is okay to report. Get your news from alternative sources on the internet. To really wake up to whats going on in American today, you need to visit a variety of news and commentary sites at least a couple times a week. As for entertainment via your nice television, the internet has many movie sites, available on your television either by hooking up to a box such as Roku or by hooking a computer to your TV. You may not get the latest popular movies, but you can get a vast array of older movies and even older TV series. There are also many webbased radio stations that offer talk shows and music of all genres. When you ditch the mainstream media news and look for news on the internet, you will be surprised what you learn. Always read everything from a skeptical position and look at both sides of the coin. Most of us, during our teens and early twenties, read books mostly because they were prescribed reading at high school or college. Other books were read sheerly for their entertainment value. There are books that influence our lives. I have been thinking lately of books that have influenced my entire life. The first on that list is the Holy Bible by which my entire life has been guided, despite that I, like all of you, am indeed sometimes a sinner. During college, books that either gave me a lot to chew on or influenced me were Future Shock, by Alvin Toffler, 1984 by George Orwell. When I was young, another influential book and inspiration was How I found Freedom in an Unfree World, by Harry Browne. Even though Browne seems to have been an atheist, he nevertheless had what I perceive as a very ethical view of the ideas of freedom and liberty. In more recent years, books that have influenced me or instigated much thought in my mind are: The Creature from Jekyll Island, by G. Edward Griffin, State of Fear (fiction), by Michael Crichton, Atlas Shrugged (fiction), by Ayn Rand. Although I have treated myself to an extensive education about Agenda 21, I recently read Behind the Green Mask, by Rosa Koire which explains in easy-to-understand terms what Agenda 21 is, why it threatens our liberties and what we can do about it. About 35 years ago, I found a multi-part article in Mother Earth News entitled Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television. This was a true eye-opener to my young mind as I was trying to simply survive in this world. Recently I came upon this article again, on the internet. I asked for and received permission to reprint from Mother Earth News. Because I think this article (really a book) is really, really important, I am reprinting (with permissions) in a series what I had read from Mother Earth News in this issue and several more issues. Please read this series. It could change your life and the life of your family. This was published in 1978, before many of you were born, when television sets were big heavy boxes with a curved screen. Today, the situation is even worse, with huge, mesmerizing flat screens and everything in high defini-

To The Editor: Am I a resident of the U.S.A.? the State of Texas? the County of San Patricio? Is there anything else I do not know? Allow me to explain We purchased our property on January 30, 2009. When we signed the papers, we had no perception of the turmoil we were to encounter. We WERE certain we were buying our home on 2.87 acres within the County of San Patricio; but we did NOT know we were buying within the City of San Patricio. As a Realtor for 20+ years, I knew to rely on the title company to specify the property location. Our deed reads City of Mathis, TX. I pay taxes to Mathis ISD and San Patricio County. My mailing address, just as the address for the City of San Patricio, reflects Mathis, TX. We did not move to this area to cause problems; quite the contrary. Our intent was to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and to care for my 86 year old mother. We wanted a garden, room for the grandkids to play and, quite simply, some peace and quiet. So much for that! Less than a year later our problems began. We moved a mobile home to our property for my mother. Unbeknownst to us, the City of San Patricio requires a building permit for such actions. I didnt realize that you had to have a building permit for a structure that was already built. We then found out from the county that the City of San Patricio must sign off on the septic permit for the mobile home. Subsequently, we attended a City Council Meeting to ask for their approval. As you might imagine, they were not happy that we had not recognized the powers that be. After my mother begged them to approve the permit, they grievously consented. The next issue arose when we received a letter from the City Council informing us that we had to move a travel trailer stored on our property as it was parked in the wrong area. They also indicated that per city ordinance, the trailer was not to be connected to ANY utilities - even though we pay the electric bill! We refused to comply and were served with a lawsuit through

San Patricio County District Court. Yes, we were sued by the City of San Patricio, which we never intended to move to, for something done without question when we lived in the Corpus Christi city limits. It seems that the goal of Mayor, Lonnie Glasscock, Mayor Pro Tem, Bob Miller and the Board of Aldermen (none of whom were actually VOTED into office) is to tell us what to do on OUR LAND! Please note that according to the San Patricio City Attorney, there have been NO ELECTIONS for at least 5-10 years, while many residents claim it has been much longer. So, is this America? Talk about YOUR LIBERTIES being stripped away! I have contacted the Texas Secretary of State, Texas Attorney General, Texas State Representative JM Lozano, county officials and others. Something is wrong with this picture! We feel like we have moved to a Modern Day Hazzard County. How can these NON ELECTED INDIVIDUALS tell landowners of rural San Patricio County what can and cannot be done on their OWN PROPERTY?? Something needs to be done about this situation before it escalates further. As I write this, we are beginning the process of disannexation for their failure to provide any city services. The City of San Patricio has: NO post office, NO police services, NO fire services, NO water services, NO trash services, and is NOT A TAXING ENTITY. So what gives them the power to tell me what to do on my own property? Bill and Cindy Moore Mathis, TX

Cicero Who?
..there is nothing new under the sun... from Ecclesiates 1:9
Contributed by Gwen Guyser Marcus Tullius Cicero, was born in January 106 BC and died in December 43 BC; he was a Roman philosopher, statesman, lawyer, orator, political theorist, consul and constitutionalist. He is widely considered one of Rome's greatest orators and prose stylists. The peak of Cicero's authority and prestige came during the eighteenth-century Enlightenment, and his impact on leading Enlightenment thinkers such as John Locke, David Hume, and Montesquieu was substantial. His works rank among the most influential in European culture, and today still constitute one of the most important bodies of primary material for the writing and revision of Roman history, especially the last days of the Roman Republic. As one who studied Latin in high school, I was familiar with Cicero. Recently in my meanderings around the internet, I discovered amazing quotations from Cicero that are incredibly meaningful right now in America. Notice that his entire life was before the birth of Christ, more than 2000 years ago and during what many consider the begiinning of the decline of Rome. All of the following quotations are from Cicero.

"The more laws, the less justice." "There exists a law, not written down anywhere but inborn in our hearts; a law which comes to us not by training or custom or reading but by derivation and absorption and adoption from nature itself; a law which has come to us not from theory but from practice, not by instruction but by natural intuition. I refer to the law which lays it down that, if our lives are endangered by plots or violence or armed robbers or enemies, any and every method of protecting ourselves is morally right." "Do not blame Caesar, blame the people of Rome who have so enthusiastically acclaimed and adored him and rejoiced in their loss of freedom and danced in his path and given him triumphal processions. Blame the people who hail him when he speaks in the Forum of the new wonderful good society which shall now be Rome's, interpreted to mean more money, more ease, more security, and more living fatly at the expense of the industrious."

Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive.
--C. S. Lewis If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.
--James Madison

"To be ignorant of what happened before you were born... A nation can survive its is to live the life of a child for fools, and even the ambitious, ever." but it cannot survive treason from within. Four Arguments for The Elimination of Television

By MOTHER EARTH NEWS editors possibilities. The effect is to drastically confine all human understanding within a rigid channel. What binds the four arguments together is that they deal with aspects of television that are not reformable. What is revealed in the end is that there is ideology in the technology itself. To speak of television as "neutral" and therefore subject to change is as absurd as speaking of the reform of a technology such as guns. ARGUMENT ONE: THE MEDIATION OF EXPERIENCE As humans have moved into totally artificial environments, our direct contact with, and knowledge of the planet has been. snapped. Disconnected, like astronauts floating in space, we cannot know up from down or truth from fiction. Conditions are appropriate for the implantation of arbitrary realities. Television is one recent example of this, a serious one, since it greatly accelerates the problem. THE WALLING OF AWARENESS During a six-month period in 1973, The New York Times reported the following scientific findings: A major research institute spent more than $50,000 to discover that the best bait for mice is cheese. Another study found that mother's milk was better balanced nutritionally for infants than commercial formulas. That study also proved that mother's milk was better for human infants than cow's milk or goat's milk. A third study established that a walk is considerably healthier for the human respiratory and circulatory systems, in fact for overall health and vitality, than a ride in a car. Bicycling was also found to be beneficial. A fourth project demonstrated that the juice of fresh oranges has more nutritional value than either canned or frozen orange juice. A fifth study proved conclusively that infants who are touched a lot frequently grow into adults with greater selfconfidence and have a more integrated relationship with the world than those who are not touched. This study found that touching, not merely sexual touching, but any touching of one person by another, seemed to aid general health and even mental development among adults as well as children. The remarkable thing about these five studies, of course, is that anyone should have found it necessary to undertake them. That some people did find them necessary can only mean that they felt there was some uncertainty about how the answers would turn out. And yet, anyone who has seen a mouse eating cheese or who has been touched by the hand of another person already knows a great deal about these things, assuming he or she gives credence to personal observation. Similarly, anyone who has ever considered the question of artificial milk versus human milk is unlikely to assume that Nestle's or Similac will improve on a feeding arrangement that accounted for the growth of every human infant before modern times. That any people retain doubts on these questions is symptomatic of two unfortunate conditions of modern existence: Human beings no longer trust personal observation, even of the self-evident, until it is confirmed by scientific or technological institutions; human beings have lost insight into natural processeshow the world works, the human role as one of many interlocking parts of the worldwide ecosystem because natural processes are now exceedingly difficult to observe. These two conditions combine to limit our knowledge and understanding to what we are told. They also leave us unable to judge the reliability or unreliability of the information we go by. The problem begins with the physical environment in which we live. MEDIATED ENVIRONMENTS When he was about five years old, my son Kai asked me, "Daddy, who built Mt. Tamalpais?" Kai's question shocked me. I said, "Nobody built Mt. Tamalpais; it grew up out of the Earth thousands of years ago. No person could build a mountain." I don't think this satisfied him, but it did start me on a new train of thought. I think that was the first moment that I really looked around at the urban world in which he and I and the rest of our family and the majority of the people in this country live. I wanted to know how he could have gotten the notion that human beings are responsible for the construction of mountains. I soon realized that his mistaken impression was easy to understand; it was one that we all share on a deeper level. Most Americans spend their lives within environments created by human beings. This is less the case if you live in Montana than if you live in Manhattan, but it is true to some extent all over the country. Natural environments have largely given way to human-created environments. What we see, hear, touch, taste, smell, feel and understand about the world has been processed for us. Our experiences of the world can no longer be called direct, or primary. They are secondary, mediated experiences. When we are walking in a forest, we can see and feel what the planet produces directly. Forests grow on their own without human intervention. When we see a forest, or experience it in other ways, we can count on the experience being directly between us and the planet. It is not mediated, interpreted or altered. On the other hand, when we live in cities, no experience is directly between us and the planet. Virtually all experience is mediated in some way. Concrete covers whatever would grow from the ground. Buildings block the natural vistas. The water we drink comes from a faucet, not from a stream or the sky. All foliage has been confined by human considerations and redesigned according to human tastes. There are no wild animals, there are no rocky terrains, there is no cycle of bloom and decline. There is not even night and day. No food grows anywhere. Most of us give little importance to this change in human experience of the world, if we notice it at all. We are so surrounded by a reconstructed world that it is difficult to grasp how astonishingly different it is from the world of only one hundred years ago, and that it bears virtually no resemblance to the world in which human beings lived for four million years before that. That this might affect the way we think, including our understanding of how our lives are connected to any nonhuman system, is rarely considered. In fact, most of us assume that human understanding is now more thorough than before, that we know more than we ever did. This is because we have such faith in our rational, intellectual processes and the institutions we have created that we fail to observe their limits. I have heard small children ask whether apples and oranges grow in stores. "Of course not," we tell them. "Fruit grows from the ground somewhere out in the countryside, and then it's put into trucks and brought to the stores." But is this true? Have you seen that? Do you have a sense that what you are eating was once alive, growing on its own? We learn in schools that fruit grows from the ground. We see pictures of fruit growing. But when we live in cities, confined to the walls and floors of our concrete environments, we don't actually see the slow process of a blossom appearing on a tree, then becoming a bud that grows into an apple. We learn this, but we can't really "know" what it means, or that a whole cycle is operating: sky to ground to root through tree to bud ripening into fruit that we can eat. Nor do we see particular value in this knowledge. It remains an idea to us, an abstraction that is difficult to integrate into our consciousness without direct experience of the process. Therefore we don't develop a feeling about it, a caring. In the end how can our children or we really grasp that fruit growing from trees has anything to do with humans growing from eating the fruit? We have learned that water does not really originate in the pipes where we get it. We are educated to understand that it comes from sky (we have seen that, it is true!), lands in some faraway mountains, flows into rivers, which flow into little reservoirs, and then somehow it all goes through pipes into the sinks in our homes and then back out towhere? The ocean. We learn there is something called evaporation that takes the water we don't need up to the sky. But is this true? Is there a pattern to it? How does it collect in the sky? Is it okay to rearrange the cycle with cloud seeding? Is it okay to collect the water in dams? Does anyone else need water? Do plants drink it? How do they get it? Does water go into the ground? In cities it rolls around on concrete and then pours into sewers. Since we are unable to observe most of the cycle, we learn about it in knowledge museums: schools, textbooks. We study to know. What we know is what we have studied. We know what the books say. What the books say is what the authors of the books learned from "experts" who, from time to time, turn out to be wrong. Everyone knows about night and day. Half the time it's dark, half the time it's light. However, it doesn't work that way in our homes or outside in the streets. There is always light, and it is always the same, controlled by an automatic switch downtown. The stars are obscured by the city glow. The moon is washed out by a filter of light. It becomes a semimoon and our awareness of it inevitably dims. We say it is night, but darkness moods and feelings lie dormant in us. Faced with real darkness, we become frightened, overreact, like a child whose parents have always left the light on. In three generations since Edison, we have become creatures of light alone. One evening during 1975, I went with my family to a small park in the middle of San Francisco to watch a partial eclipse of the moon. We saw it rise above the buildings, but it had little power. Hundreds of street lamps, flashing signs, and lighted buildings intruded. The street lamps, those new mercury-vapor arcs that give off a harsh pinkish-white light, were the worst problem. It was difficult to feel anything for the moon seen through this pinkish filter. The children became bored. We went for an ice cream. Later that same evening, I went alone to a different park on a high hill. I imagined the See TV Continued on Page 5

If you accept nuclear power plants, you also accept a techno-scientific-industrialmilitary elite. Without these people in charge, you could not have nuclear power. You and I getting together with a few friends could not make use of nuclear power. We could not build such a plant, nor could we make personal use of its output, nor handle or store the radioactive waste products which remain dangerous to life for thousands of years. The wastes, in turn, determine that future societies will have to maintain a technological capacity to deal with the problem, and the military capability to protect the wastes. So the existence of the technology determines many aspects of the society. If you accept mass production, you accept that a small number of people will supervise the daily existence of a much larger number of people. You accept that human beings will spend long hours, every day, engaged in repetitive work, while suppressing any desires for experience or activity beyond this work. The workers' behavior becomes subject to the machine. With mass production, you also accept that huge numbers of identical items will need to be efficiently distributed to huge numbers of people and that institutions such as advertising will arise to do this. One technological process cannot exist without the other, creating symbiotic relationships among technologies themselves. If you accept the existence of advertising, you accept a system designed to persuade and to dominate minds by interfering in people's thinking patterns. You also accept that the system will be used by the sorts of people who like to influence people and are good at it. No person who did not wish to dominate others would choose to use advertising, or choosing it, succeed in it. So the basic nature of advertising and all technologies created to serve it will be consistent with this purpose, will encourage this behavior in society, and will tend to push social evolution in this direction. In all of these instances, the basic form of the institution and the technology determines its interaction with the world, the way it will be used, the kind of people who use it, and to what ends. And so it is with television. Far from being "neutral," television itself predetermines who shall use it, how they will use it, what effects it will have on individual lives, and, if it continues to be widely used, what sorts of political forms will inevitably emerge. These will be the subjects taken up in the main body of this book.

be useful to remark that they involve a deliberate change in pace from what you have read till now. This introduction was written to move along the surface from point to point fairly quickly, a la television-time, as it were. Its purpose was to give you a rapid summary of my own changing perspectives on the medium, up to the moment I began to feel that there was much more, to the problem than I understood, leading me temporarily to quit all other activities and delve further into television. It was only after a long while and many half-steps of change in viewpoint that I finally faced the fact that television is not reformable, that it must be gotten rid of totally if our society is to return to something like sane and democratic functioning. So, to argue that case, especially considering that it involves a technology accepted as readily and utterly as electric light itself, is not something that ought to be done rapidly or lightly. Nor can such a case be confined to the technology itself, as if it existed aside from a context. What follows, therefore, proceeds in what might be called book-time through four dimensions of television's role and impact. Each of them can be observed separately from the others, but they also intertwine and overlap each other. The first argument is theoretical and environmental. It attempts to set the framework by which we can understand television's place in modern society. Yet, this argument is not about television itself. In fact, television will be mentioned only occasionally. It is about a process, already long underway, which has successfully redirected and confined human experience and therefore knowledge and perceived reality. We have all been moved into such a narrow and deprived channel of experience that a dangerous instrument like television can come along and seem useful, interesting, sane and worthwhile at the same time it further boxes people into a physical and mental condition appropriate for the emergence of autocratic control. The second argument concerns the emergence of the controllers. That television would be used and expanded by the present powers-that-be was inevitable, and should have been predictable at the outset. The technology permits no other controllers. The third argument concerns the effects of television upon individual human bodies and minds, effects which fit the purposes of the people who control the medium. The fourth argument demonstrates that television has no democratic potential. The techBefore the Arguments: A nology itself places absolute Comment on Style limits on what may pass through it. The medium, in efBefore going on with the fect, chooses its own content four arguments, I think it will from a very narrow field of

Delicious Low-Carb Cheese Biscuits

If you are living with a very low-carbohydrate diet, higher on the fats and proteins, you probably really miss bread. Here is a delicious alternative that can be used for sandwiches when split open, can be used to make eggs benedict or just to sop up the yolks of your fried eggs or the juice from your greens.

Directions:
1) Preheat oven to 400 degrees. 2) Melt the butter 3) Mix the coconut flour with baking powder 3) In a seperate bowl, mix eggs with salt, onion powder and melted butter. (Be sure to cool the butter before mixing with eggs.) 4) Whisk the coconut flour mixture into the egg mixture. 5) Fold in the shredded cheese. 6) Drop the batter onto a greased cookie sheet (or, better yet, parchment paper spread on the cookie sheet). You should have six biscuits. The dough will be somewhat thick and you can easily use your fingers to flatten these to about 1/2 inch thick and make them round. 7) Bake for 15-17 minutes. Note: The only place I know to get coconut flour is online. Sprouts in Corpus may have it, but last time I checked, they did not.

Ingredients:
1/4 cup real butter or coconut oil (I like butter best) 1/3 cup coconut flour 1/4 teas. baking powder 1/4 teas. salt !/4 teas. onion powder 4 eggs 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

The Climate Change Conspiracy Part II

Misdirection and the attention span of the average American hooked into an electronic world where memes are spread and taken at face value is the advantage that the Obama administration takes for granted. Even though the climatechange conspiracy has been debunked early in the 21st century; progressives whose goal is total control, never give-in when their agenda is on the line. February 12, 2013 President Barack Obama addressed the nation on the state of the union. During his rambling rhetoric, Obama told the nation, But for the sake of our children and our future, we must do more to combat climate change. We can choose to believe that superstorm Sandy, and the most severe drought in decades, and the worst wildfires some states have ever seen were all just a freak coincidence. Or we can choose to believe in the overwhelming judgment of science and act before its too late. We can see that our president believes that climate change is important enough to mention in his address to the nation; but we must question the legitimacy of his concern of global warming/climate change and how we should handle the present situation. Obama continued, I urge Congress to pursue a bipartisan, marketbased solution to climate change. But if Congress wont act soon to protect future generations, I will. I will direct my cabinet to come up with executive actions we can take, now, and in the future, to reduce pollution. [emphasis added] As we can see from the presidents statements, Obama does not respect the checks and balances put in place by our Constitution; and we can clearly see his hubris as he strives for an emperorship. In 2008, then Presidential Candidate Barack Obama told the San Francisco Gate that coal powered plants would go bankrupt and that electricity bills would skyrocket due to his regulations. Those regulations are based off the flawed idea that carbon-dioxide is the fatal enemy of our species. Because much of America is focused on the lime-light of Hollywood instead of both chambers of Congress; the Obama administration has been able to reignite the weak flame of man-made-global warming. In part one of this article we learned that CO2, even as a greenhouse-gas, does not affect global temperatures. Remember, we found that it is actually global temperatures that affect CO2 levels in the atmosphere; that when temperatures rise, centuries later CO2 rises as well. If this is the case; then what is actually affecting weather; or at the least, what role man contributes to weather disturbances. If there ever were any evidence that mankinds activities were responsible for climate change; that evidence would be filed under weather modification. Since the beginning of civilization, made has made restless attempts to manipulate the weather. Rain-dances, prayer, and even sacrifices have all been past attempts by man to have an effect on weather; however, in the past half-century, man has made tremendous technological advances to do so. Well begin with cloud-seeding. Although the idea of cloudseeding reaches as far back as the birth of aviation; today we will begin in the late 1960s with the United States military Project Popeye. >From early 1967 to the middle of 1972, the US military continuously executed cloud-seeding in the panhandle of Laos to cripple the supply route of the North Vietnamese. The result of the mission was an increase of monsoon activity leading to devastating rains which soften and mudded the roads beyond travel. On March 20, 1974, Colonel Ed Soyster of the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff briefed the US Senate Subcommittee on Oceans and International Environment of the Committee on Foreign Relations on the Department of Defenses weather modification activity in Southeast-Asia during the Vietnam War. Col Soyster told the subcommittee that The program was to increase rainfall sufficiently in carefully selected target areas to further soften the road surfaces, cause landslides along roadways, and to wash out river-crossings. These events normally and naturally occur anyway during the height of the rainy-season. By seeding it was intended to extend the period of occurrence beyond the normal rainy season. By dropping silver and lead iodides into the updraft in a forming storm cloud, our military was able to produce a substantial amount of rainfall in the targeted areas to cut off the supply line for the enemy. Due to international concern over the use of weather as a weapon; the subcommittee to which Col Soyster testified to, was actually the result of said concerns. After an international debate at the United Nations, Resolution 31/72 was passed on December 10, 1976 and signed by US President Jimmy Carter in 1979. The treaty titled the Prohibition of Military or Any Other Hostile Use of Environmental Modification Technique addressed and condemned using weather as a weapon due to the uncertainty of the long-term effects of such an attack. So now we know, through Congressional testimony, that man has the ability to manipulate weather through dropping silver and lead iodides to induce rainfall; well what if we want a different outcome? What if we were to drop particulates into the atmosphere to combat global-warming? How would that affect our weather? How would that affect our world? In 2010 in San Diego, California, a symposium was held for the American Association for the Advancement of Science; and one particular subject matter caught the attention of journalist Michael J. Murphy; which led to the groundbreaking film What In The World Are They Spraying? The topic which sparked the motivation for the article that inspired the film was geoengineering; and the symposium shed much light as to the ideology, theory, and actual implementation of geoengineering methods. One climatologist speaking at the conference was University of Calgary Professor David Keith, has been on the frontlines of advocating forthcomingness as a last resort to the detrimental effects of manmade-global-warming. During his address, Keith told the audience that the use of aluminum injected into the stratosphere could reflect fourtimes the light from the sun; thus, leading to a cooling-effect. After admitting that the infancy of the research seemed too easy in 2010, Keith went on to say, If we do more research were likely to find that its more harder and complicated than we thought, the side effects are harder to manage, and thats a healthy outcome that will make it easier to do the managing. Keith continued after he addressed the idea of himself and his colleagues as mad, crazy scientists, how they should focus on the possible damage on the environment from geoengineering as opposed to no action whatsoever, And by the way, its not really a moral hazard; its more like free-riding on our grandkids. Although the film focuses on the health ailments and the secrecy of what is known as chemtrails, the film also outlines, at least one purpose, of the chemtrails, and that is weather modification. Scientists from across the globe gathered to discuss how they could manipulate the weather in the future to help preserve our way of life. Because of global-warming-through the eyes of a liberal-environmentalist-we must do something to prevent the inevitable catastrophic heating of our planet due to manmade CO2; and place substances into the atmosphere that will better reflect the damaging rays from the sun. This is how we are supposed to take control of global-warming/climatechange. By dropping a mixture of aluminum, barium, and strontium, geoengineering scientists hope to dampen the GHG effects of the deadly CO2 emissions from consumer nations. One truth behind geoengineering is the chaos theory where one tiny manipulation of weather conditions can lead to dramatic changes above us. This can be likened to the butterfly-theory where a butterfly flaps its wings and on the other side of the earth there is a hurricane, cyclone, or typhoon. Among the list of cons for geoengineering was extreme drought. In 2004, Science Channel released the documentary Owning the Weather which covered the efforts made to own-the-weather. Among the featured individuals was Ross Hoffman Principal Scientist of Atmospheric Environmental Research tweaks models of past hurricanes in an attempt to drive the hurricane in any desired direction. Since hurricanes derive their power from the moisture of the ocean; theoretically, we could cover a portion of the ocean with a mixture that would block the evaporation process which fuels hurricanes and direct the storm. Throughout this film we hear geoengineering scientists justifying the directing of a storm to kill less people than the storm would have if it had taken its natural course. In other words, these people believe that they have the Divine ability to decide who should live and should die. If only tens or hundreds of people die from a directed hurricane; as opposed to the death toll of the hurricane had it taken its original path; then the deaths are justified. the energy into the ionosphere, through heating, the ionosphere begins to bend upwards with can dramatically affect the jet stream. Simply by tuning into your local meteorologist, we all know that they pay close attention to the jet streams as a means to predict the weather; therefore, if it is understood that the predictability of weather is based off the behavior of a jet stream, then surely, being able to manipulate a jet stream can modify weather to the desired specifications. weather conditions. With astrophysics as his foundation for predictions, Corbyn was able to forecast early or late winters; leading his firm to be listed among the Alternative Investment Market. Corbyn was able to precisely forecast long-term weather conditions solely from solar activity. In 1893, scientist Edward Morder realized that there were less sun spots during Englands Little Ice Age (between the 16th and 19th centuries). The Little Ice Age occurred immediately after the Medieval Warming Period when CO2 levels were higher than today. After a timeline was graphed covering one hundred years comparing solar activity with surface temperatures, the line-graphs were practically identical. To further support the theory that solar activity drives global temperatures, a graph with a longer timeline; a 400 year timeline line-graph was compiled which read identical to the one hundred year graph. Now it would seem to reason that our sun is responsible for driving temperature variations here on Earth and it all has to do with cloud formation.

Project Cirrus is the first known attempt by our military to direct a hurricane, which was heading east into the Atlantic from the Gulf of Mexico October 13, 1947. In conjunction with General Electric Corporation, US Army Signal Corps, Office of Naval Research (ONR), and the US Air Force (USAF), between 80 and 180 pounds of dry ice were dropped into the rainbands of the storm. It is not certain if the seeding caused it, but the storm dramatically turned west and landed in Savannah, Georgia on October 15, 1947. Despite UN Resolution 31/72, and under the guise of auroral research, the US military is well underway to taming the weather for military purposes. Because of this relentless drive to own the weather, the Russian State Duma expressed concern over the HAARP program in Alaska. The Russian news agency Interfax published an article October 9, 2002 covering the report made by Dumas international affairs and defense committees. The state report stated that, The significance of this qualitative leap could be compared to the transition from cold steel to firearms, or from conventional weapons to nuclear weapons. TV Continued from Page 3 possible and which are not, ridiculing any evidence to the contrary. The moon's cycle affects the oceans, they say, but it doesn't affect the body. Does that sound right to you? It doesn't to me. And yet, removed from any personal awareness of the moon, unable even to see it very well, let alone experience it, how are we to know what is right and what is wrong? Most of us cannot say if, this very evening, the moon will be out at all. Perhaps you are a jogger. I am not, but friends have told me how that experience has broken them out of technologically created notions of time and distance. I have one friend in San Francisco who runs from his Russian Hill apartment to Ocean Beach and then back again, every morning. This is a distance of about eight miles. There was a time, he told me, when the idea of walking, or bicycling that distance seemed impossible to him. Now the distance seems manageable, even easy. Near, not far. He has recovered a personal sense of distance. I have made similar discoveries myself. Some years ago I decided to walk to work every day instead of driving. It changed getting to work into a pleasurable experience-no traffic jams or parking hassles-and I would stop now and then for coffee and a chat with a friend. More important, it changed my conception of distance. My office was twenty blocks from my home, about a thirty-minute walk. I noticed that walking that distance was extremely easy. I hadn't known that my previous conception of twenty blocks was one which technology had created. My knowledge was car-knowledge. I had become mentally and physically a carperson. Now I was connecting distance and range to my body, making the conception personal rather than mechanical, outside myself. On another occasion, while away on a camping trip with my two children, I learned something about internal versus institutionaltechnological rhythm. The three of us were suffering an awful boredom at first. My children complained that there was nothing to do. We were all so attuned to events coming along at urban speed in large, prominent packages, that our bodies and minds could not attune to the smaller, more subtle events of a forest. By the second day, however, the children began to throw rocks into a stream and I found myself hearing things that I hadn't heard the day before: wind, the crunch of leaves under foot. The air was somehow clearer and fresher than it seemed to have been the day before. I began to wander around, aimlessly but interestedly. On the third day, the children began to notice tiny creatures. They watched them closely and learned more about their habits in that one day than I know even now. They were soon imitating squirrels, birds, snakes, and they began to invent some animals. By the fourth day, our urbanrhythm memory had given way to the natural rhythms of the forest. We started to take in all kinds of things that a few days before we hadn't noticed were there. It was as if our awareness was a dried-out root system that had to be fed. Returning to the city a few days later, we could feel the speedup take place. It was like running to catch up with a train. SENSORY-DEPRIVATION ENVIRONMENTS The modern office building is the archetypal example of the mediated environment. It contains nothing that did not first exist as a design plan in a human mind. The spaces are square, flat and small, eliminating a sense of height, depth and irregularity. The decor is rigidly controlled to a bland uniformity from room to room and floor to floor. The effect is to dampen all interest in the space one inhabits. Most modern office buildings have hermetically sealed windows. The air is processed, the temperature regulated. It is always the same. The body's largest sense organ, the skin, feels no wind, no changes in temperature, and is dulled. Muzak homogenizes the sound environment. Some buildings even use "white noise," a deliberate mix of electronic sounds that merge into a hum. Seemingly innocuous, it fills the ears with an even background tone, obscuring random noises or passing conversations which might arouse interest or create a diversion. The light remains constant from morning through night, from room to room until our awareness of light is as dulled as our awareness of temperature, and we are not aware of the passage of time. We are told that a constant level of light is good for our eyes, that it relieves strain. Is this true? What about the loss of a range of focus and the many changes in direction and intensity of light that our flexible eyes are designed to accommodate? Those who build artificial environments view the senses as single, monolithic things, rather than abilities that have a range of capacity for a reason. We know, for example, that our eyes can see from the extremely dark to the extremely bright, from far to near, from distinct to indistinct, from obvious to subtle. They perceive objects moving quickly and those that are still. The eye is a wonderfully flexible organ, able to adjust instantly to a dazzling array of information, constantly changing, multileveled, perceiving objects far and near moving at different speeds simultaneously. A fully functioning visual capacity is equal to everything the natural environment offers as visual information. This would have to be so, since the interaction between the senses and the natural environment created the ranges of abilities that we needed to have. Sight did not just arrive one day, like Adam's rib; it coevolved with the ingredients around it which it was designed to see. When our eyes are continually exercised, when flexibility and dynamism are encouraged, then they core equal to the variety of stimuli that night and day have to offer. It is probably not wise always to have "good light" or to be for very long at fixed distances from anything. The result will be lack of exercise and eventual atrophy of the eyes' abilities. When we reduce an aspect of environment from varied and multidimensional to fixed, we also change the human being who lives within it. Humans give up the capacity to adjust, just as the person who only walks cannot so easily handle the experience of running. The lungs, the heart and other muscles have not been exercised. The human being then becomes a creature with a narrower range of abilities and fewer feelings about the loss. We become grosser, simpler, less varied, like the environment. The common response to this is that if we lose wide-spectrum sensory experience, we gain a deeper mental experience. This is not true. We only have less nonmental experience so the mental life seems richer by comparison. In fact, mental life is more enriched by a fully functioning sensory life. In recent years, researchers have discovered some amazing things about the connections between mental and physical life by doing sensory-deprivation experiments. In such experiments, a human subject is cut off from as much sensory information as possible. This can be accomplished, for example, by a totally blank environmentwhite walls, no furniture, no sounds, constant temperature, constant light, no food and no windows. A more thorough method is to put the blindfolded subject inside a temperature-controlled suit floating in a water tank with only tubes to provide air and water, which are also at body temperature. This sensory-deprivation tank eliminates the tactile sense as well as an awareness of up and down. Researchers have found that when sensory stimuli are suppressed this way, the subject at first lives a mental life because mental images are the only stimulation. But after a while, these images become disoriented and can be frightening. Disconnected from the world outside the mind, the subject is rootless and ungrounded. If the experience goes on long enough, a kind of madness develops which can be allayed only by reintroducing sensory stimuli, direct contact with the world outside the subject's mind. Before total disorientation occurs, a second effect takes place. That is a dramatic increase in focus on any stimulus at all that is introduced. In such a deprived environment, one single stimulus acquires extraordinary power and importance. In the most literal sense, the subject loses perspective and cannot put the stimulus in context. Such experiments have proven to be effective in halting heavy smoking habits, for example, when the experimenter speaks instructions to stop smoking or describes to the subject through a microphone the harmful, unpleasant aspects of smoking. These experiments have shown that volunteers can be programmed to believe and do things they would not have done in a fully functional condition. The technique could be called brainwashing. It would be going too far to call our modern offices sensory-deprivation chambers, but they are most certainly sensory-reduction chambers. They may not brainwash, but the elimination of sensory stimuli definitely increases focus on the task at hand, the work to be done, to the exclusion of all else. Modern offices were designed for that very purpose by people who knew what they were doing. If people's senses were stimulated to experience anything approaching their potential range, it would be highly unlikely that people would sit for eight long hours at desks, reading memoranda, typing documents, studying columns of figures or pondering sales strategies. If birds were flying through the room, and wind were blowing the papers about, if the sun were shining in there, or people were lolling about on chaise lounges or taking baths while listening to various musical presentations, this would certainly divert the office worker from the mental work he or she is there to do. In fact, if offices were so arranged, little business would get done. This is why they are not so arranged. Any awareness of the senses, aside from their singular uses in reading and sometimes talking and listening, would be disastrous for office environments that require people to stay focused within narrow and specific functional modes. Feeling is also discouraged by these environments. Reducing sensual variations is one good way of reducing feeling since the one stimulates the other. But there is also a hierarchy of values which further the process. Objectivity is the highest value that can be exhibited by an executive in an office. Orderliness is the highest value for a subordinate office worker. Both of these are most easily achieved if the human is effectively disconnected from the distractions of her or his senses, feelings and intuitions. With the field of experience so drastically reduced for office workers, the stimuli which remainpaper work, mental work, businessloom larger and obtain an importance they would not have in a wider, more varied, more stimulating environment. The worker gets interested in them largely because that is what is available to get interested in. Curiously, however, while eschewing feeling and intuition, business people often cannot resist using them. They come out as aberrations fierce competitive drive, rage at small inconveniences, decisions that do not fit the models of objectivity. Such behavior in business sometimes makes me think of blades of grass growing upward through the pavement. A more poignant example, perhaps, is that modern offices have proven to be such hot sexual environments. Aside from the occasional potted plant, the only creatures in offices with which it is possible to experience anything are other humans. With all other organic life absent and with the senses deprived of most possibilities for human experience, the occasional body which passes the See TV Continued on Page 10

city lights gone dark. I turned them off in my mind. Without the buildings diverting me, I gained the briefest feeling for how the moon must have been experienced by human beings of earlier centuries, why whole cultures and religions were based upon it, how they could know every nuance of its cycle and those of the stars, and how they could understand its connection with planting times, tides, and human fertility. Only recently has our own culture produced new studies confirming the moon's effect on our bodies and minds, as well as its effect on plants. Earlier cultures, living without filters, did not need to rediscover the effects. People remained personally sensitive to their connections with the natural world. For most of us, this sensitivity and knowledge, or science, of older cultures is gone. If there are such connections, we have little awareness of them. Our environment has intervened. Not long after the eclipse I just described, my wife, Anica, was told by her ninety-year-old grandmother that we should not permit our children to sleep where the moonlight could bathe them. Born in preindustrial Yugoslavia and having spent most of her life without technology, the old woman said the moon had too much power. One night, our oldest son, Yari, who was eight at the time, spent an evening at a friend's house, high on a hill, sleeping near a curtainless south-facing window. He called us in the morning to tell us of a disturbing thing that had happened to him during the night. He had awakened to find himself standing flush against the window, facing the full moon. He had gotten out of bed while still asleep, walked over to the window, and stood facing the moon. Only then did he wake up. He was frightened, he said, more by the oddness of the experience than any sense of real danger. Actually, he thought it rather special but didn't like having an experience different from what is expected and accepted, which is not to experience the power of the moon. He had been taught that what he had just been through couldn't happen; he wished it hadn't and it hasn't since. Yari, like most of the rest of us, does not wish to accept the validity of his personal experience. The people who define the moon are now the scientists, astronomers and geologists who tell us which interactions with the world are

I have a great new human pal. His name is Eddie, and he comes over two or three times a week these days to help Mom clear what she calls the back 40. Mom lets me outside to follow Eddie around and watch him and manipulate him into petting my head and scratching my belly. With all this land clearing, I have found a lot of new toys. One day I brought home what Mom declared to be the spine of a feral hog. Unfortunately, as soon as she saw it, she dropped it into her garbage can. Another day I brought home the sole of someones sneaker. That, too, went into the garbage can. Boo-hoo! I cant ever get my way! I should be able to, for I am Queen of the World! Otherwise, life is good. Little Mom tosses me some meaty bones that are freezing cold, and on hot days, they are

mighty welcome. I gnaw and gnaw, and then the meat sort of gets softer and I eat it. Then I have a nice bone to chew on for hours. I never liked ice, but maybe Ill learn to. Mom is always dropping me ice cubes, but they dont make a good smell, so I never tried them. If I could talk, Id tell her to make those cubes from beef broth. Little does she know. She is so stupid sometimes, at least as far as her treating me like the queen that I am. Now Im thinking Mom doesnt like me. She swept up all my gorgeous shed hair off the carport, breezeway and garage and tossed it all in the garbage can. Doesnt she appreciate my beautiful hair? Oh well, I do get great food, bones, water at all times and plenty of time to play. I guess its a good dogs life. Arf, arf to all my doggy pals and human pals out there.

The Texas Free Press -7 computer, into the government database. You will be asked if you have had flu shots, shingles vaccination, pneumonia vaccination and a whole slew of other shots and vaccines. If you do not agree to take the injections, it will go into the computer that you are non-compliant. If you raise your voice because you are sick and tired of the interrogation, it will go into the computer that you are belligerent. In this system, there is no room for differences between the body of one individual and another individual. It is a contrived system, leaving no room for individual variances. For example, a man or woman who engages in serious weight-lifting and is slender and fit will weigh more than a person of similar size who is a couch potato. Since the computer guidelines only reference an almost arbitrary BMI (body mass index), the physically fit weight-lifter may, by those standards, be considered overweight. It is a system that views you and your body to be just like everyone elses. Many of the numbers are either arbitrary or have no scientific basis. There are some people who like to be taking prescription drugs. They wear their diagnoses like a badge and brag about how many drugs they are taking each day. Others like taking the drugs but deny that fact, by whining to everyone they know about how many drugs they have to take each day. Still others whine about all the side effects the drugs are causing, most notably the side effect of statin drugs causing muscle pains. Here are some truths you need to recognize: 1) Almost no one is in absolutely perfect health. From the time of birth onward, each day, you are closer to death. Preventive/Wellness Checks are almost guaranteed to find something wrong with you, even you feel great. 2) The computerized guidelines for healthy cholesterol are false and designed to sell lots of statin drugs for which the pharmaceutical companies make lots of money. There is absolutely no proof that statin drugs reduce the likelihood of heart disease or stroke. When a doctor tells you that you have high cholesterol, he or she is telling you that some combination of your HDL (good cholesterol), LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglycerides equals high cholesterol. The chances are good that if you are eating a standard American diet, you have high triglycerides, low HDL and high LDL. This will add up to a high total cholesterol, just what Big Pharma wants in order to get you on statin drugs. From what I have read about statins is that they do is this: They lower your bad cholesterol but have little or no effect whatsoever on your good cholesterol or triglycerides. This can, in effect, lower your total cholesterol, making the computer, the government and your doctor happy while not actually improving your health. The truth is that if you still have high triglyceridess and low HDL after months or years of taking statins, you are doing yourself no favor. The truth is that there is a ratio involving cholesterol readings that are a true indicator of whether you have healthy cholesterol readings or not. These ratios are expressed in different ways In my own research I believe the ratios expressed by Dr. Mercola (www.mercola.com) are quite possibly the most accurate. There is nothing about wellness or preventive healthcare in these checkups. Does dectection of cancer prevent cancer or create wellness? Does taking statin drugs prevent heart disease or stroke and create wellness? These visits are just about finding symptoms that can be treated by prescription drugs. It would be more appropriate to call these visits sickness visits or ruin your health visits. Remember that the ultimate reason you are there is to increase the profits of Big Pharma, clinics, hospitals and insurance companies. But there is one good reason to take advantage of those checkups, and that is to be able to obtain a copy of your lab test results. You can take them home, boot up your computer, open your browser and search for the meaning of each and every one of those codes on your lab results and what they really mean. You can go to alternative health sites and seek out natural alternatives to the drugs you have been prescribed. You can seek out help locally from people who are trained in natural health care. When you do this, you begin to take control of your own health. It may be that you really do need some of those prescription drugs, at least temporarily, but such an approach will at the very least allow you make informed choices rather than blindly doing what the doctor tells you do.

If you go to a medical clinic for one of these, be prepared for any or all of the following:

1) You will have unwittingly told the provider personal information such as how much you drink and whether or not you smoke, how much you smoke, how much you drink, and this information goes into the computer for the world to see, especially those who decide whether you are worthy of spending insurance dollars to treat you. 2) The chances are excellent if you over about 50 years old, that the screenings will find something "wrong with you, resulting in your leaving with various diagnoses such as: obesity, pre-diabetes (whatever that is), diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and possibly even cancer. As a result, you will probably go home with prescriptions for diabetes drugs, statin drugs, lowblood pressure drugs and perhaps (if they think they can pin a cancer diagnosis on you) recommendations for biopsies, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy. During your visit, if you have admitted to smoking cigarettes, you'll be told to quit. If you drink alcohol, you will be advised to have only one drink per day (women) or two (men). You will be told to lose weight if you are "overweight" or "obese." You will be told to simply eat less, avoid fats and exercise a lot (to work off the calories in all those "grain" foods they will recommend). You will probably be asked if you are "depressed." Depending on your answer, you might leave with a prescription for an antidepressant such as Zoloft. You will more than likely be asked if you have guns in your home, who owns them and whether you keep them locked up, even if you don't have children. This, too, will go into the

from foreign "cyber terrorists," but the real effect of this bill will be to further erode Americans' online privacy. Under CISPA, Internet corporations are authorized to hand over the private information of American citizens to federal agents, as long as they can justify the violation of your privacy in the name of protecting "cyber security." Among the items that may be shared are your e-mails, browsing history, and online transactions. Like the PATRIOT Act, CISPA violates the fourth amendment by allowing federal agencies to obtain private information without first seeking a warrant from a federal judge. The law also allows federal agencies to pass your information along to other federal bureaucrats again without obtaining a warrant. And the bill provides private companies with immunity from lawsuits regardless of the damage done to anyone whose personal information is shared with the government. CISPA represents a troubling form of corporatism, where large companies cede their responsibility to protect their property to the federal government, at the expense of their customers' privacy and liberty. In this respect, CISPA can be thought of as an electronic version of the Transportation Security Administration, which has usurped the authority over airline security from private airlines. However, CISPA will prove to be far more invasive than even the most robust TSA screening. CISPA and the gun control bill are only the most recent examples of politicians manipulating fear to con the people into giving up their liberties. Of course, the people are told the legislation is for "limited purposes," but authority granted to

This week, as Americans were horrified by the attacks in Boston, both houses of Congress considered legislation undermining our liberty in the name of "safety." Gun control continued to be the focus of the Senate, where an amendment expanding federal "background checks" to gun show sales and other private transfers dominated the debate. While the background check amendment failed to pass, proponents of gun control have made it clear they will continue their efforts to enact new restrictions on gun ownership into law. While it did not receive nearly as much attention as the debate on gun control, the House of Representatives passed legislation with significant implications for individual liberty: the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA). CISPA proponents claim that the legislation is necessary to protect Americans

government is rarely, if ever, used solely for the purpose for which it is granted. For example, the American people were promised that the extraordinary powers granted the government by the PATRIOT Act would only be used against terrorism. Yet soon after the bill became law, reports surfaced that it was being used for non-terrorism purposes. In fact, according to data compiled by the American Civil Liberties Union, 76 percent of the uses of the controversial "sneakand-peak" warrants where related to the war on drugs! Sadly, I expect this week's tragic attacks in Boston to be

The only thing that will stop them is if the American people rediscover the wisdom of Benjamin Franklin that you cannot achieve security by allowing government to take their liberties. used to justify new restrictions on liberty. Within 48 hours of the attack in Boston, at least one Congressman was calling for increased use of surveillance cameras to expand the government's ability to monitor our actions, while another Senator called for a federal law mandating background checks before Americans can buy "explosive powder." I would not be surprised if the Transportation Security Administration uses this tragedy to claim new authority to "screen" Americans before they can attend sporting or other public events. The Boston attack may also be used as another justification for creating

Consider stashing measuring cups right in the bins along with the sugar, flour, etc. If you have big bins, consider sticking the sifter right in with the flour too. Great trick and no more digging for lost measuring cups! Use shallow tubs and boxes to contain like items in the refrigerator (idea from Susiej). A crock can be used to hold frequently needed utensils and set on the counter for easy access (wooden spoons, spatulas, soup ladles, etc.). Also helps keep the large utensils drawer better sorted since less is packed inside (dividers or shallow baskets come in handy here). Can also hang a wall basket to stash lightweight larger items. Store a hand mixer, its beaters and attachments into a basket before tucking away into a cupboard. No more fussing with wrapping cords, digging around for attachments-everything is neatly tucked in the basket. Isabelles Garden Tips

You would think all my plants would have been in the ground by now, but, no, I found more plants and they looked quite good to me. After buying them and getting them home I had to find places for them to go before they went to seed. Sometimes I had forgotten I had bought a plant late, but not this time. I also had five more trees to plant which I was ably to do with a little help.. Lets see, that was 20 olive trees, a fig tree, lemon and lime and two apple trees. One apple was the Dorset Golden, and an Anna. They make such a lovely couple. Those two apple trees like each other so much that they will make many apples, but it does takes two for apples to pollinate. Now, on to my grapefruit and my transplanted olive trees which seem to have survived this past year, and all are doing well. I have a nice variety of fruits. I will sometime in the next 12 months have a Joey avocado. No, I do not know where I will purchase it but somewhere locally I can assure you. I did pick up the Dorset Golden from Turners in Corpus Christi. Very nice place to shop. Everything I put out late seems to be doing quite well. Use lots of water before and after the transplanting. As tired as one gets working alone, it feels great to know that one day you will see the fruits of your labor. What a great reward. So, I assume all of you were much better this year than I was, you got everything in the ground. Right? If not, because of the spring has been mild, I think you should pick up a healthy plant or two and try your luck at it now! It could become your favorite. For the first time, I tried cotton-burr as a topping for my newly planted Hibiscus and Passion Vine. It looks good as for as I can tell and will keep you updated on that. Have any of you tried something new? How is it working? I would really like to know. You sharing information is how this column works. So let others know how things are working for you, and if you need to ask a question, send in via email only. If do not know the answer, I will cast it out to the readers and maybe they can come up with something. Your knowledge may seem lacking to you, but to others it may be what they are searching for. So come on; send us what you have. Send e-mail to me at this address: jenell@thetexasfreepress.com and put in the subject line: Isabelle The really hard work is digging holes. It is worth it once you have finished. I promise you that. You should really take care of your body when doing hard work and do nothing that causes pain, agony or fear. Thats my motto. I have dug 10 holes this last week in hard rocky caliche rock. What fun! So I am going to tell you my digging secret. Use posthole diggers, a spade, a digger bar, and water controlled by you. Thats it! I use the spade to start a little hole or a bigger hole depending on how well the dirt comes out. Sometimes just rocks come out at first. Anyway after you get that hole down about two to threeinches, fill it up with water and let it set until drained. Sometimes it only takes a minute but often 10 to 30 minutes. Then using the spade, try enlarging your hole to the size required for your planting. Sometimes you get the opportunity to do the hole watering lots of times until you get your hole dug out. Very satisfying work! Remember that when your hat falls off and gets muddy! After you have the hole dug, it is time to put the tree or bush plant in the ground. You are almost through. Be sure your plant has been watered because it makes it easier to come out of the pot all in one piece. Center the plant/tree/bush and bal-

ance it for looks. Put back soil around and in the hole area that you just dug out. Small rocks can go back also. If rocks are really difficult to dig up, make use of the digger bar. It is a long steel heavy bar and it works. You pick it up and push it down hard and sometimes it breaks up that rock. Other times it just slips under the rock and you can use the digger bar as a lever to lift up the rock (not boulders). Then you can pick them up, and your planting area still

looks very good. And, always keep the posthole digger close because it works well with regular dirt to dig a hole and then it will pick up some of those smaller rocks and then finish off your hole. Remember rocks can cause a fall so keep those rocks picked up. Your lawn mower will also be happy. Talk with you next month but keep watering and planting. Have a great month Bye for now. Isabelle

TV Continued from Page 5 desk becomes an especially potent sensual event, the only way out of the condition of suspended experience, and the only way to experience oneself as alive. In fact, the confinement of human beings within artificial environments may be a partial explanation of our new culturewide obsession with and focus on sex. I have been speaking mainly of cities. This has only been because their effects are most obvious. I don't want to create the impression that suburbs, retirement communities, recreational communities and the like offer any greater access to a wider range of experience. Those places do have large trees, for example, and more small animals. The sky is more visible, without giant buildings to alter the view. But in most ways, suburban-type environments reveal less of natural processes than cities do. Cities, at least, offer a critical ingredient of the natural world, diversity, albeit a diversity that is confined to only human life forms. It does not nearly approach the complexity of any acre of an ordinary forest. In suburbs the totality of experience is plotted in advance and then marketed on the basis of the plan. This, plus a front lawn, a back lawn, two large trees, and an attentive police force makes up the total package. Human beings then live inside that package. Places formerly as diverse as forest, desert, marsh, plain and mountain have been unified into suburban tracts. The human senses, seeking outward for knowledge and stimulation, find only what has been prearranged by other humans. In many ways the same can be said of rural environments. Land which once supported hundreds of varieties of plant and animal life has been transformed by agribusinesses. Insect life has been largely eliminated by massive spraying. For hundreds of square miles, the only living things are artichokes or tomatoes laid out in straight rows. The child seeking to know how nature works finds only spray planes, automated threshers, and miles of rows of a single crop. Reprinted with permission by MOTHER EARTH NEWS, www.MotherEarthNews.com. James 1:26-27 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this mans religion is vain. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and the widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

We can put your building anywhere you want it!
