The Kings Choir: This choir is open to all parishioners high-school aged and older. No previous musical experience is necessary. The only prerequisite is that you enjoy singing. The Kings Choir rehearses on Wednesdays, beginning September 4, from 7:00pm-9:00pm in the church. Advanced registration is required to ensure enough music is purchased. Childrens Choir: Our Childrens Choir has grown tremendously over the past few years. This year we will have separate rehearsals for singers and instrumentalists, but they will be together on Sunday. The Childrens Choir rehearses weekly, and attendance is mandatory. The choir sings at mass once per month. This year our childrens choir will be part of the Pueri Cantores, a national student choral organization of the Catholic Church in the United States. Nearly 70 dioceses will be served by regional student choral festivals throughout the nation, and Christ the King will be part of the Chicago Festival. Childrens Orchestra: Last year we were combined with the Childrens Choir and although we will still be at mass together, we will rehearse separately. The Childrens Orchestra rehearses weekly, and attendance is mandatory. The orchestra plays at mass once per month. Minimum skill level includes playing basic melody of hymns at mass. Cantors: Cantors are the brave souls who lead us in song each week. Although formal musical education is not required, an understanding of music and natural talent is. Christ the King invites parishioners of all ages to become a cantor. You will begin as an intern, working with a current cantor to help raise your confidence (and calm your nerves!) Instrumentalists: We welcome all instrumentalists to play at the liturgy. If you play an instrument, and wish to share your talents, please contact us for more information.

CTK-BETA CREW
BETA: 1. (Noun) a type of star, the second brightest in a constellation 2. (Adjective) beta version software ready for consumer testing 3. (Verb) The action of being the second brightest, next to Jesus . . . okay I just made that part up, but its what we did on our recent mission experience at Hopkins Park as we represented Christ the King to our neighbors there! The Stars in question, Robert Stevenson and Sean Rochford, occupied the recently renovated resale shop at Sacred Heart Mission. The building, while old, has a solid foundation so the Diocese graciously decided to create a youth retreat center out of the resale shop. The Diocese has been very busy making this place ready for the teens of both the Diocese and those of Hopkins Park. While this building is still in its primitive stages, (hence the name BETA CREW), it is a place alive with endless possibilities and one we look forward to revisiting in the future. Robert and Sean were courageous and went beyond what was asked of them to serve our neighbors in Hopkins Park. While we were there we painted, stained, cleaned, prayed, and presented a positive attitude! Christ the King would be proud of these boys, and you should be too . . . I know I am! Many thanks to our Parishioners for prayers, donations and support for Youth Ministry! God Bless you for all you do for us.
You shall love the LORD, your God, with all your heart, and all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself. Luke 10:25-37

STEWARDSHIP OF TIME
A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT
Todays Gospel parable speaks to generosity. In the deep of night, a sleepy friend responds to his neighbors request for food for an unexpected guest. Jesus suggests that it would be unthinkable that a friend would deny a friend in need. A friend would most certainly give what is asked and more. Through this story, Jesus illustrates Gods generosity. Good stewards realize the extraordinary love and graciousness with which God showers us. We need never convince God to be generous. God is already that generous friend. His abundant love bathes us in goodness. This week, prayerfully reflect on Gods generosity and what our response should be to that generosity.
