TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR GRADE SLAB AND RETAINING WALL (INTEGRAL APPLICATION) 1. 2.

Volume-IV

For water proofing of grade slab and retaining wall the waterproofing compound Krystol Integral Membrane (KIM) shall be added at the batching plant @ 3 kg/cum. CONSTRUCTION JOINT TREATMENT FOR RAFT & RETAINING WALLS. At every construction joint before pouring new concrete, prepare a KIM slurry 5% wt of cement and pour apply on joint just before new concrete pour. However if any joint treatment is required due to honey combing, grove of 10mm X 15mm will be filled with Krystol T2 mortar after 3 days. MODE OF MEASUREMENT The Concrete produced from batching plant shall be measured for payment. Actual waterproofing material consumption shall be submitted along with RA Bills for reconciliation purpose.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR PODIUM AREAS

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

Concrete surfaces shall be cleaned and made free of contaminants and laitance. Release oil and other contaminants which may impair adhesion to be removed prior to the application. Surface preparation including treatment / grouting of non structural cracks / honey combs if required. Concrete will be cleaned to have an open pore surface to allow penetration of Krystol. This may require mechanical preparation such as grinding, waterblasting or hacking. Surfaces to be treated will be pre-soaked with clean water 3 to 6 hrs to a saturated surface dry (SSD) condition. Mix Krystol T2 to a slurry consistency (5 parts powder to 2 part clean water). Mix only enough material that can be applied in 15 minutes to 20 minutes. Apply slurry to the concrete surface with a brush in a circular, scrubbing motion so as to achieve maximum adhesion and penetration. Apply the slurry to the entire concrete slab and 200mm vertical surface at the junction of the slab and wall. Apply the slurry to the entire concrete slab at rate of 0.6 kg/sqm.

7. 8.

Protect the area from rapidly drying out due to heat, damage by rain, excessive wind and freezing temperatures for 48 hours. Testing with ponding to be done after 7 days.

MODE OF MEASUREMENT The treated surface area shall be measured for payment. The actual consumption of waterproofing material shall be measured and recorded for each area of application and shall be approved by PM and submitted along with the RA bills.

(b) Brick Bat Coba

Volume-IV

1. The surface to be treated shall be cleaned and inspected thoroughly. All minor, medium cracks shall be marked and V groove shall be made. These shall be cleaned with compressed air, grouted with cement and mortar 1:3 (1 cement : 3 sand) slurry mixed with non shrinking and waterproofing compound. 2. Then again surfaces shall be well cleaned of all loose particles, laintances, moss, oil/greasy material, cement etc. 3. Roof areas shall be well marked with spot datum to create ridge, lines, slopes and drain points for easy draining of water (Nominal slopes shall be about 1:100). 4. Cement sand mortar mixed in ratio 1:5 along with and non-shrinking compound as specified by manufacturer shall be mixed with clean water and layer of about 20 to 30 mm laid over the entire area to be treated, then well soaked saturated brick bats shall be arranged by proper placing to create required slope as per datum established. The brick bats shall be prepared from well burnt bricks. In no case under burnt bricks shall be used. The brick bats shall be get approved by the PM. 5. Avg. thickness of brick coba 110mm will be maintained. Above it double the rate will be applied. 6. Minimum thickness at draining point shall be 50 mm. Rain water inlet pipes etc. shall be well grouted. Edge, corners shall be well rounded (vata) by taking up treatment about 300 mm above proposed finished level. 7. This area shall be kept dipped in water for at least 3 days. When no dampness noticed, area shall be drained out and cement sand mortar mixed in ratio 1:3 (1 cement : 3 sand) shall be spread over the entire area. 8. The top surfaces shall be broom finished to a near horizontal datum level to achieve well defined ridges, gutters, vata etc. Edges shall be tucked in grooves in wall / parapet about 300 mm above proposed finished level. MODE OF MEASUREMENT The treated surface area shall be measured for payment. No deduction in measurement shall be made for openings or recesses, khurras or area upto 0.40 sqm, nor anything extra shall be paid for making such openings, recesses etc. For areas exceeding 0.40 sqm, deduction will be made in the measurements for the full openings and nothing extra shall be paid for making such openings.

(c) China Mosaic Flooring

Volume-IV

1. The broom finished surface after brick bat coba the china mosaic with cement mortar mix of 1:6 (1 cement : 6 sand) shall be done in the same slope/profile. 2. The sand and white glazed tiles (full size made into broken pieces) shall be of approved quality by the PM. 3. The size of broken pieces of white glazed tiles shall be 12mm to 20mm. The broken pieces shall be soaked in water for 24 hours. 4. The surface shall be cleaned, wetted and mopped. The cement slurry @ 2.75kg/sqm shall be applied on the surface evenly. The bedding of average 25 mm thickness shall be laid evenly on the surface in CM 1:6 (1 cement : 6 sand) in the slope maintained as same in brickbat coba layer. The bedding shall be allowed to harden enough to offer a rigid cushion to the tile pieces and to enable the mason to place wooden planks across and squat on it. 5. The broken china pieces shall be laid manually over specified bedding (before its sets/gets hard) which shall be laid to the required slope and gradient. While laying the broken china pieces the neat cement paste shall be applied over the bedding. 6. After china mosaic is arranged, the entire surface shall be tampered by wooden mallet so that tile piece are properly embedded and levelled in the mortar and slurry starts oozing from the joints. Vata shall be along with the floor, keeping machine cut edges at the top end of vata. 7. The joints shall be grouted firmly with white cement paste with the use of steel trowel. At the end of days work, the entire work shall be cleaned with minimum quantity of water and moped with cotton cloth. 8. The entire work shall be cured for 7 days by ponding. After curing period is over, china mosaic shall be cleaned with water and rubbing by plastic brush to remove the dirt, excess cement etc. The surface shall be cleaned with water and very mild oxalic acid.
