YourVoIPtelephoneinstallationcompany,CompleteVoIPCoveragePtyLtd (CVCPtyLtd),hasanewclient,ColconPharmaceuticalInc.Thiscompanyis distributedacross4majorcitiesinAustralia;Sydney,Melbourne,Perthand Brisbane.Eachcityhasthree(3)brancheswiththemainbranchlocatedinthe CBDofeachcityandtheothertwo(2)branchesestablishedinBusinessParks. Yourclienthasdecidedtomigratefromthetraditionalanalogtelephonysystem anddevelopitsownVoIPnetwork.Forthispurpose,acontractwitha telecommunicationproviderhasbeensignedthatwillprovideaccesstothe publictelephonenetworkaswellasanemergencyanalogconnectionforeach city.Additionally,thetelecommunicationproviderwillprovideredundant dedicatedseriallinkstobeusedonlywhenthemainconnectionfromtheCBD becomesunavailable. Thenetworksetupcanbedescribedwiththefollowingstatements: Four(4)mainlocations(Sydney,Melbourne,PerthandBrisbane). Alllocationshavethree(3)branches. Eachbranchhastwo(2)IPphones(firstandlastextensionnumber mustbeused)andone(1)FXSanalogphone(secondavailable extensionnumbermustbeused).Thisisshown,forexample,for CargoBP,butmustberepeatedateveryothersite(seefigure). Eachlocation(city)hasbeenassignedarangeoftelephonenumbers (asshowninthediagram)thatcorrespondtotheknownPOD numbers.However,duetodifferingnumbersofemployeesworkingat differentbranches,therangesofthesenumbershavebeenassignedin anonevenway. Theclienthasdecidedtousenetwork10.0.0.0acrossthewhole networkusingVLSMwiththeleastwasteofIPAddresses.EIGRPisto beusedtorouteacrossalllinks. Asasupplieryourcompanyistobedividedinto4groupsandeach groupwillberesponsiblefortheimplementationof1city(location). Atanyonelocation: AllbranchesareinterconnectedusingthestandardFastEthernet connection(asshownintheSydneyexample).Thisresultsinevery branchhavingone(1)primaryroute(mostdirect)andone(1) secondaryroute(leastdirect)totheothertwobrancheswithinthe samecity(location). Onebranchateachcity(asshowninthediagram)hasaconnectionto theADTRANviaitsPRIport.ThisistheCBDlocation. Onebranchateachcity(asshowninthediagram)hasaconnectionto theADTRANviaitsFXOport. Onebranchateachcity(asshowninthediagram)hasserial connectiontothenextlocation(city).Thiseffectivelycreatesathird

alternativeroutetobeusedincertaincircumstancesandforspecific destinationsasdescribedinthefollowingsection. RoutingCalls: 1. AllVoIPandFXScallsfromonebranchtoanotherwithinthesame location(city)mustgothroughtheprimary(mostdirect)FastEthernet linkfirst,followedbythesecondary(leastdirect)FastEthernetlinkin caseofprimaryroutefailure(linkdown). Example: SydCBDwantstoreachNorthRydeBP.Directlinkisused.If directlinkisdown,SydCBDwillgothroughParramattaBP instead.IfbothFastEthernetlinksaredownatthebranch originatingthecall,thecallisunsuccessful. 2. Fromanybranchwithinalocation(city),allcallsdirectedatthepublic telephonenetworkmustgothroughthePRIlinklocatedattheCBD branchforthatlocation(thepublictelephonenetworkissimulatedvia3 analogphonesontheADTRANandpluggedinport5,6and7only). Example: FromanybranchinSydney,acallto5556005or5556006or 5556007mustgothroughthePRIlinkatSydCBDifthePRIlinkis up.Thereisnoserialconnectioninvolved. 3. Asabackuponly,thepublictelephonenumbers55560057mustalso beabletobereachedviatheFXOlink. 4. AllVoIPandFXScallsbetweendifferentlocations(cities)mustuse primarilythePRIifthePRIlinksatbothsourceanddestinationisup. Example: AVoIP/FXSphoneonNexusBPcallinganotherVoIP/FXSphone onCargoBPwillberoutedthroughNexusBPtoMelCBD,down thePRIlinkstoBrisCBDandfinallytoCargoBP.Notehowever thatifBrisCBDPRIlinkisdown(unknownbyMelCBD),thecallis notexpectedtobesuccessful. 5. IntheeventthattheCBDPRIlinkinthecitywherethecalloriginatesis down,thecallmustbereroutedthroughthecitysSeriallinkinstead. Example: AVoIP/FXSphoneonNexusBPcallinganotherVoIP/FXSphone onCargoBPshouldberoutedthroughtheMelCBDPRIlink. However,ifthisPRIlinkisdown,thecallshouldberoutedthrough theseriallinksconnectingInspirationBPandOracleBPbefore reachingCargoBP.InthiscasetheADTRANisnotinvolved.

6. TheemergencyITdepartmentanalogphonepluggedinport8(555 6008)canonlybereachedviatheFXOportandnotthePRIlink. Example&Conditions: a. SydCBDorParramattaBPwanttocall5556008,thecallmustgoto NorthRydeBPFXOport,againusingdirectlinksifavailable, otherwiseusingtheindirectFastEthernetlinks. b. IfthecitysFXOlinkisdown,thecallmustbeautomaticallyredirected tothenextcitysFXO.However,reachingthenextcitysFXOdoesnot guaranteesuccessasthatcitysFXOcouldalsobedown.(Note1:If thisisimplementedproperlythiswouldeffectivelycreateapotential loop.Note2:Amaximumof3FXOscanbedisconnectedatanyone timeandthecallto5556008shouldstillbesuccessful.) c. IfSydCBDoriginatesthecallto5556008andbothFastEthernet linksaredown,thecallwillbeunsuccessful.However,ifParramatta BPoriginatesthecallandbothFastEthernetlinksaredown(North RydeBPcannotbereached),ParramattaBPwillroutetothenext citysFXO(NationalBP)viatheseriallinktoNexusinstead.Thesame principleappliestoallothercities.ForexampleNexusBPhasboth FastEthernetconnectionsdownandthereforecannotreachitsown citysFXOlocatedatNationalBP,thiscalltotheemergencyIT departmentwillbeautomaticallyroutedtoParramattaorInspiration BPtoreachthenextcitysFXO. 7. AnypublicphoneontheADTRANcanreachanybranchsFXSphoneas longasthecorrespondingPRIlinkisup.

Phase2 TobeimplementedONLYwhenalltheaboveisworking. 8. QoSshouldbeimplementedonalllinkswhereapplicable 9. ApplyCoRusingthefollowingrules. a. Ateachbranchwithineachcity,theFXSphonecanonlycallthefirst (lowernumber)IPphoneonthesamebranch.HoweverbothIPPhones onthatbranchcancalltheFXSPhoneonthesamebranch.TheFXSphone cancallallnumbersonotherbrancheswithinthesamecity. b. AbranchsfirstIPphone(lowernumber)isabletocallthefirstIPPhone atotherbranch(lowernumber)withinthesamecity.Abranchssecond IPPhone(highernumber)isabletocallthesecondphoneateachbranch (highernumber)withinthesamecity.BothIPphonesatabranchcancall theFXSphoneatanotherbranchwithinthesamecity. c. Allcitywidephonescancallthe5556008FXOconnectednumber(via theFX0portONLY),theemergencynumber.Norestrictionisapplied. d.
