Adding IBM Notes Traveler to an IBM i Domino server

There are several steps to setting up a IBM Notes Traveler server to run on IBM i. Follow the following procedure to set up the IBM Notes Traveler server.

10

IBM Notes Traveler 9 Beta

1. Sign on to the system with a user profile that has *ALLOBJ, *IOSYSCFG, and *SECADM authority. 2. Stop the Lotus Domino server. 3. On any IBM i command line, type the command ADDNTSDOM and press F4. 4. In the Domino server name field, type the name of the Domino server where you will add IBM Notes Traveler. 5. In the External Access URL field, specify the complete URL, including https://, the server name, the port number (if not the default), and the servlet path (/traveler) that the device uses to get to the server. This can be a proxy or redirected address and is used by the server so that links are correctly formatted for the device to get to the server in the same way it does for syncing. This is also in the server document and is overridden by notes.ini if specified. There are two valid values for this field: v *BLANK: Default value v Character-value: Specify an effective URL that devices can access 6. Press F10 for additional parameters, then complete the following fields:
Table 1. Setup Parameters Field Traveler HOST IP address Description Specifies the IP address of the HOST on which IBM Notes Traveler is running. It must be in the form nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn, where nnn is a decimal number between 0 and 255; for example, 199.4.191.76. An IPv4 address is not valid if it has a value of all binary ones or all binary zeros for the network identifier (ID) portion or the host ID portion of the address. This property can be used to override the selection if the wrong IP address is chosen. This could happen if the server has multiple active network interfaces and it is desirable for the server to use an interface other than the one that was selected. Values for this field are as below: v *FIRSTACTIVE: The IP address of the first active network interface. This is default value. v character-value: Specify the IP address that the IBM Notes Traveler server will use. Traveler server port Specifies the interprocess socket connection used between the Notes Travel server and its HTTP server servlet. It is also used for inter-server communication between servers in a high availability (HA) pool. This is the port the IBM Notes Traveler server accesses for incoming requests from the web servlet or commands from other servers. Add this Notes.ini setting to override the default port number. Values for this field are: v 50125: The default port. v 1-65535: Specify the port on which the Traveler server will be listening.

Chapter 5. IBM Notes Traveler setup on IBM i

11

Table 1. Setup Parameters (continued) Field Traveler servlet port Description Specifies the interprocess socket connection used between the Notes Travel server and its HTTP server servlet. This is the servlet listening port number. Add this Notes.ini setting to override the default port number. Values for this field are: v 50126: The default port. v 1-65535: Specify the port on which the IBM Notes Traveler servlet will be listening. Traveler push port Specifies the TCP port used for Auto Sync communications between version 8.5.1 and earlier IBM Notes Traveler servers and clients. If you are using an 8.5.2 version or later client, this port is not used and can be disabled. If you are using a version earlier than 8.5.2, this port must not be used by other applications on this server. If the IBM Notes Traveler server is behind a firewall, this port must be open on the firewall or the IBM Notes Traveler client must use a VPN to tunnel through the external firewalls. To disable the Auto Sync TCP port, set the port value to 0. If this server is configured for High Availability, the Auto Sync TCP port should be disabled as this is not a supported option in this mode. Values for this field are: v 8642: The default port. v 0-65535: Specify the port that the IBM Notes Traveler push service will use. Use a value of zero to disable this service.

7. Press Enter to run the command. When IBM Notes Traveler is added to the Domino server, you will see the message "Command ADDNTSDOM ended successfully" on the console screen. Note: You can set up multiple IBM Notes Traveler servers on one IBM i system, with the following requirements: v Multiple existing Domino server instances exist on the systems. v Multiple instances of IBM Notes Traveler must use different network addresses or different ports on the same address. See the preceding table for more information.

Configuring the Windows RT device for use with IBM Notes Traveler
In order to connect your Windows RT device to IBM Notes Traveler, the IBM Domino Server must be configured for SSL. One type of SSL configuration uses a Self Signed Certificate (SSC). Consult the IBM Domino documentation for information about creating a SSC and configuring SSL on your IBM Domino server. Once your IBM Domino Server is configured for SSL using your SSC, you must make a modification to the Windows RT device. The SSC you created on your IBM Domino Server uses a RSA key size of 512K. However, the Windows RT device defaults to a RSA size of 2048K. To change the default RSA key size from 2048K to 512K, perform the following steps below. 1. Open a command prompt with administrator privileges: a. Swipe up from the bottom bezel of the Start screen and then touch the All apps charm. b. On the Apps screen, locate the Windows System heading. You may need to swipe or scroll to the right depending on the size of your view. c. Press and hold (or right-click) Command Prompt. d. Press or click Run as administrator from the menu that appears. e. Press or click Yes if you are prompted with a User Account Control message. An elevated Command Prompt window displays. Note: If your Windows RT account does not have administrator privileges, you may be prompted with a different message asking for credentials from another account on your computer that does have administrator privileges. You must comply before you will be allowed to open an elevated Command Prompt. 2. At the command prompt, execute the following command:
certutil -setreg chain\minRSAPubKeyBitLength 512

3. When the command completes, reboot the Windows RT device so the change takes effect. 4. When the Windows RT device restarts, open Internet Explorer in Administrator mode: a. At the Start screen, click the Desktop tile. b. Right-click the Internet Explorer icon on the start bar c. Highlight Internet Explorer. d. Click Run as administrator... or press Shift-Ctrl-Enter to launch Internet Explorer in Administrator (elevated permission) mode. 5. Browse to your IBM Notes Traveler server's web access page using HTTPS, for example: https://my-traveler-server.com/traveler. 6. Ignore any warnings about certificates, and select Continue to this website. 7. Click on the red certificate warning in the Internet Explorer address bar at the top of the screen. 8. Click View certificates. 9. Click Install certificate. The Certificate Import Wizard displays. 10. Leave Store Location as the current user. 11. Select Place all certificates in the following store, then click Browse to select Trusted Root Certification Authorities.

Chapter 12. Known restrictions

This section provides information on known restrictions for IBM Notes Traveler 9 Beta. IBM Notes Traveler 9 Beta known issues and limitations: v See the known limitations section of the IBM Notes Traveler 9 Beta documentation for more information. v The support site contains additional information as well.

Windows Phone device limitations and restrictions

The following are restrictions, limitations, and notable user experience behaviors when using IBM Notes Traveler 9 Beta with Windows Phone devices. Mail v No syncing of Drafts or Deleted Items folders v No ability to create, delete, or rename custom folders v No Domino encrypted mail support (view or send) v No mail searching against content on the IBM Notes Traveler server v Replying or Forwarding mail changes its format to MIME, which does not support Domino document sections. As a result, any Domino document sections will be expanded. v Hotspot buttons in a mail message, such as ones that automatically add events to your calendar, are lost when the mail is replied to or forwarded from the device. v No ability to set different internal and external out of office messages or specify start/end dates (end date will always be 12/31/2050) Calendar v No ability to create Domino anniversaries or meeting event types from the device. v All Domino event types created from the server show up as the same color on the device, and there is no color delineation between different event types. v No meeting chair actions from the device v You cannot propose a new time for a calendar invitation on the device. Security v IBM Notes Traveler data on Windows Phone 7.5 and 7.8 devices is not encrypted, as these devices do no support device encryption. v There is a known issue with the device security policy settings for the following scenario: IBM Notes Traveler policy password strength is set to both Require Alphanumeric value and Specify a minimum number of complex characters. The Windows Phone device enforces this policy and the user sets an appropriate password. The IBM Notes Traveler policy is changed such that an Alphanumeric password is no longer required.

33

On the Windows Phone device, you should now be able to change your device password to numeric only. However, this is failing on Windows Phones 7.5, Windows Phone 7.8 and current versions of Windows Phone 8.0. Logging The logging option for sync settings does not allow a user to retrieve the logs after enabling "Basic" or "Advanced". It is recommended that the logging setting be set to "Off". See Customizing your account on page 25 for information on how to access the Logging setting.

Possible error conditions for Windows Phone devices

The Windows Phone mail application presents on-screen messages for several error conditions. In each case, error messages must be dismissed by the user before proceeding. Information about why these error messages may be occurring can be found using the Microsoft Windows Phone support forums. Some of the most common error messages you may see (not a comprehensive list), and our understanding of each based on information in the forums, include: Error code: 85010017/80072FED When users encounter this error code, the device is having trouble connecting to the IBM Notes Traveler server. This may be a result of lost WiFi and/or cellular network connectivity, some piece of the network infrastructure needed for IBM Notes Traveler access being down (for example, a firewall or proxy server), or the IBM Notes Traveler server itself being unavailable. Suggested steps for debugging include: v Validate the device has a active network connection by enabling/disabling your WiFi and/or cellular connectivity, and attempting to sync again. v Attempt to bring up an internet or intranet URL using the device browser. v Attempt to access the IBM Notes Traveler servlet using the device browser (for example, https:// serverhostname.mycompanyname.com:1234/servlet/traveler). Error code: 8500201D When users encounter this error code, it is generally because the device is having trouble syncing a specific mail or calendar event. This may be the result of an existing single mail or calendar entry being corrupted during a sync, or a problem encountered when attempting to create a new mail or calendar entry while a sync is in progress. Regardless of the cause, once the in-progress sync completes, behavior should return to normal.

IBM encourages you to report any problems or suggestions you have while working with the Beta. Please add your feedback to the ND Social Edition and Traveler public beta forum so that we can continue to make adjustments and improve the solution. If IBM Notes Traveler support staff responds and requests data from the IBM Notes Traveler server(s), please use one of the following methods to collect and upload the information. Be sure to notify IBM Notes Traveler support once the upload is complete.

Automatic method
The easiest way to collect and upload data is to use the IBM Notes Traveler PMR tell command. This will automatically collect and upload all data required for Lotus Support. For a single server use this command:
> tell traveler pmr 99999,999,000

For all servers in a Traveler Pool use this command:

> tell traveler -s * pmr 99999,999,000

For a particular server in a IBM Notes Traveler Pool use this command:
> tell traveler -s "servername/company" pmr 99999,999,000

Note: Use invalid PMR number 99999,999,000 for the Beta, since official PMRs are not accepted for Beta customers. In an official release, substitute the appropriate PMR number.

Manual method
From each IBM Notes Traveler server you are collecting data, run the following two commands:
> tell traveler systemdump > tell traveler log collect

The log collect will generate a single dated zip file. Upload the dated zip file(s) to IBM using FTP or HTTP.

FTP upload
To upload your report using FTP, open a command prompt and perform the following actions:
ftp 192.109.81.7 User: anonymous Password: your-e-mail-address ftp> cd toibm/lotus ftp> bin ftp> put filename.zip ftp> bye
