KILLER COPS OFF OUR STREETS

18 year old Sammy Yatim was fatally shot by Toronto Police on the night of Friday July 26th. The incident was caught on camera, and is disturbing evidence of how Toronto cops operate on a shoot first, ask questions later basis. Sammys murder is not an anomaly. Between 2000 and 2009, Toronto Police murdered 21 people. Brutal and devastating. But between 2010 and the present, the Pigs in T.O. have taken 18 lives, showing a clear escalation in violence, and willingness to kill people as a matter of business as usual. Toronto struggles to find money for programs and services for the most vulnerable people, while the police operate with a billion dollar budget, killing teenagers and harassing people like its nothing. The Special Investigations Unit has shown a clear inability to police the police, leaving cops in Toronto with a sense that they can get away with anything, and leaving us with little hope for accountability from the authorities. We stand united against police violence and oppression, in all its racist and classist forms. The police cant be trusted with guns, and they certainly cant be trusted to police themselves when those guns go off. The fantasy of the one bad apple is just that. We know all to well that the whole bushel is rotten to the core. We must support each other, and begin to imagine and build a world without police. But until that world exists, we will fight with all of our means, for justice for those killed by police violence. Please get involved, talk to your friends and family, and look out for upcoming actions against police brutality in Toronto.
