STATE OF NEW YORK OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL

ERIC T. SCHNEIDERMAN
ATTORNEY GENERAL

DIVISION OF REGIONAL OFFICES

WATERTOWN REGIONAL OFFICE

VIA E-MAIL DISTRIBUTION TO: FROM: Fort Drum Storage, LLP Customers NYS Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman By: Deanna R. Nelson, AAGIC July 29, 2013 Vehicles Stored by Fort Drum Vehicle Storage, aka Indoor Vehicle Storage

DATE: RE: Dear Soldier:

Your name was identified as an individual with one or more motor vehicles stored by Fort Drum Storage, doing business as Fort Drum Vehicle Storage and/or Indoor Vehicle Storage. As you are likely aware, this business is now defunct. Vehicles stored by the company are safe, but will require alternate arrangements to be promptly made for their continued storage. There presently exist three options available to you: 1. Keep the vehicle where it is at the Laser Transit facility and negotiate a deal with the warehouse owner for maintenance and storage (Laser Transit is not affiliated with Fort Drum Storage); Move the vehicle to free, unsecured outdoor storage at Fort Drum; or Move the vehicle to a different location of your choice.

2. 3.

On Friday, July 26, 2013, this office was able to expedite transfer of all vehicle keys from FDS to the property owner, so retrieving your vehicle will not be a problem. At this point, you may stop payment to FDS and challenge payments back 90-days if you were making payments via credit card. Private legal action is another option you may want to consider, particularly if there is any damage to your vehicle. Please also utilize the Attorney General Complaint Form, annexed hereto, to file a complaint detailing your particular situation. Should you want to keep your vehicle in place until your return and enter an agreement with the warehouse owner for maintenance and storage, you may email Christine Hanley at

dc@lasertransit.com, or call 315-219-4552 (ext. 7012). She will outline services offered and the respective costs. To exercise the second or third options, you may need the benefit of a limited power of attorney to remove the vehicle to another location (although you may already have a power of attorney in place, in which case that person may have authority). To this end, contact Legal Services at Fort Drum for assistance with that option: 315-772-5261. All arrangements to retrieve vehicles from Laser Transit may be made by contacting Christine Hanley at the above-referenced email or telephone number. As always, please call this office with any questions or concerns: 315-785-244
