INTRODUCTION: Growth is a phenomenon that is found in all living entities in the physical world. After birth, a living being would grow normally with the correct diet. That is the way it is when the spirit of man becomes reborn or recreated. There is a process of growth and there is a proper diet for such growth to be actualized. CHARACTERISTICS OF A RECREATED HUMAN SPIRIT: 1. Joy - Psalm 51:12; Acts 8:5-8, 39, Acts 15:1-3 2. Love for other believers. I John 3:14; Psalm 119:63 3. Excitement about Gods house; to fellowship and to serve. Psalm 122:1; Psalm 69:9a 4. Desire for intimacy with God - Psalm 42:1 -2 ; 27:4 5. Eagerness to witness to others: Acts 9:1-6,20. John 1:40,41,43-45 6. Hatred for sin - Psalm 119:53 7. Hunger for Gods Word - Jeremiah 15:16, Job 23:12 These are the vital signs of a new life. 2 Peter 1:8-10 The milk of the word is GALA (in Greek), means needed strength for the next level. As a new born baby desires milk, so must a new born spirit desire Gods word passionately. The Word of God is the manual for success. It is the winners digest. It is the champion's trade secret. The bible must be studied: A bible fallen apart through study usually belongs to a person whose live is still held together. The bible is the inspired mind of God (2 Tim. 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21). The writers are drawn from different walks of life. It has sixty six (66) books (Old Testament with 39 and New Testament with 27). VALUES OF THE WORD OF GOD 1. 2. 3. 4. It is a manual for the discovery of purpose - Psalm 40:7 It is the tool for development - I Peter 2:2 It is our guide through life - Psalm 119:105 It is our weapon in spiritual warfare - 2 Cor. 10:4; Ephes. 6:17

5. It gives us encouragement and hope - Romans 15:4 6. It gives us confidence to share the gospel. I Peter 3:15 7. It has the ability to change seemingly impossible lives and situations. Job 14:7-9 WAYS OF KNOWING GODS WORD 1. Hearing. Romans 10:17 2. Reading. I Tim 4:13 Note: Development is by what is digested not by what is merely ingested. It is not enough to ingest but to digest what is ingested. In order to digest: Study- Acts 17:11; II Tim. 2:15 Meditate - Joshua 1:8 Memorize - Psalm 119:11 Observe TO DO - James 1:21-25; Proverbs 13:13; Joshua 1:8 TOOLS FOR STUDY A Bible concordance Multiple translations of the Bible. (Recommended versions include New Living Translation, The Message bible, The Amplified Bible, New King James and others). A cross-reference bible A notebook and pen - 2 Tim 4:13, Rev 1:11 Recommendation; Read through the bible every year and use a personal notebook to monitor the one-year plan.
