HOW TO USE FORBES TRENDY STEEL

Crevice nozzle (suction and blower end): The slim orifice of the crevice nozzle is ideal for tiny gaps and edges which cannot be reached in any other way, corners of walls, floor skirting, bookshelves, pelmets, upholstery joints, behind paintings, under furniture, behind heavy cupboards, inside kitchen shelves, etc. Grill brush (blower-end): The grill brush is equipped with cleaning tufts, ideal for dusting and blowing away dirt. It has hard bristles that dislodge caked dust which is then blown away by air pressure. Use it for cleaning balcony grills, window nets and A/C ducts. (Always use the crevice nozzle to connect the grill brush to your vacuum cleaner). Demothing vapouriser (blower end): The demothing vapouriser now has the ability to bring you relaxation. Use a cotton laced with perfume. Place it in the demothing vapouriser. The air flow will disperse gentle aroma in the room to enhance the feeling of relaxation. Using it in cupboards with naphthalene balls, will prevent the formation of fungus. Spray jar (blower end): Using the blower end, the spray jar can be used for watering plants, painting, and disinfecting rooms, dust-bins, etc. Place liquid in the spray jar, attach to blower end tube and cover the two round apertures with your thumb or index finger to start the spray. Release your thumb or index finger to stop the spray. Top cleaning adapters (suction and blower end): Use the top cleaning adapter set for accessing hard-to-reach spaces such as tops of cupboards, lofts etc. Now you can reach above, along and below a host of surfaces, otherwise inaccessible. Insert and twist the two sections of the flexi cleaner together and then attach either the all-surface cleaner or the corner cleaner. Coat brush (blower end): Use the coat brush to remove lint from expensive suits, coats and jackets. Connect the coat brush to the pipe at the suction end. Run the brush over the coat and blow away lint and dust. Jet air attachment (blower end): Use the jet air nozzle for cleaning delicate equipment such as computer keyboards, speakers in music systems, etc. You may also use it to blow balloons.

Car wash attachment (blower end): Insert a hose pipe into the car wash nozzle and turn on the tap. The nozzle will deliver a high pressure water jet to clean caked dirt from hard-to-clean locations of your vehicle. (A non-return valve ensures that water does not enter the vacuum cleaner.) Floor-cum-Carpet brush (suction end): Use it for floors, carpets and mattresses. Note that the swivel brush has two surfaces - the Brush face for floors, marble, granite, tile and mosaic surfaces and the Smooth face for carpets, rugs, quilts and mattresses. You can move from one to the other by turning the lever on the combination brush. All-purpose nozzle (suction end): Open the wings of the all-purpose nozzle and insert the suction tube from the Brush end. The all-purpose nozzle now works as an upholstery nozzle - it can be used for all kinds of upholstery, pillow covers, even suits and jackets. If the tube is placed from the wing side, the combination brush works as a multi-purpose duster that can be used on venetian blinds, window sills, plastic flowers, lampshades, etc.

Extension Tube: Helps you clean hard-to-reach places like ceilings, back of sofa etc.

Flexible Hose Pipe: Gives you flexibility to reach hard-to-clean areas.

GETTING STARTED WITH TRENDY STEEL

Assemble the unit i) Use the hosepipe for vacuuming or blowing - fit the end connector of the hose pipe to the suction end and rotate it clockwise to lock, counter-clockwise to unlock the hose.

ii) Connect the extension tube to the free end of the hose for extra reach. Connect the desired accessory. iii) Draw the power cable out flatly until the suitable length for use, and then insert the power plug into the outlet. Attention: Don't extend the cable beyond the red mark. iv) Switch the machine on.

Working status i) Ensure that the dust bag is present inside the vacuum cleaner. ii) Press the ON/OFF Switch to start the vacuum cleaner and get going.

Shut off the power i) Please push the power switch and shut off, then pull the power plug out and hold the wire, meanwhile push the automatic Cord Winder button in order to pull the power wire back. 7

Dust Bag Full Indicator When Forbes Trendy Steel dust bag gets full, the Dust Bag Full indicator, on the top of the machine, turns red. This also causes the suction pressure of the Trendy to automatically drop, creating a change in the machines noise level.

Superior Air Filtration The Superior Air Filtration of Forbes Trendy Steel ensures that the dust remains in the vacuum cleaner and the expelled air is pure. The Advantage: Making the expelled air dust mite free and absolutely pure.

Forbes Trendy Steel is made of light-weight, superior grade ABS. A material so strong, it is even used for aircrafts! This ABS body adds to the sturdiness of the machine and acts as a safety mechanism, as it is able to withstand high pressure and is break-proof.

Auto Cord Winder The Auto Cord Winder allows easy and convenient storage of the cord and prevents tangles by pulling the cord to the desired length. While storing, all you need to do is pull the plug from the socket and push the foot pedal to retract it.

Pivot Hose Forbes Trendy Steel comes with a Pivot Hose that ensures tangle-free usage. There's more. This hose can turn in any direction, easily! Now you don't need to continuously adjust Forbes Trendy Steel according to where you want to clean. In fact, it'll be the Trendy that adjusts for you!

Smooth Locomotion The big wheels at the back supported by the swivel wheel in the front (which rotates 3600) allow you to smoothly glide the Forbes Trendy Steel to any corner of the room.

Careful With Furniture A special, soft rubber lining runs right around the Forbes Trendy Steel is your 'furniture guard, when the machine is in motion - preventing furniture from getting chipped or damaged due to any accidental hits.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Cleaning of Dust Bag When the reusable Dust Bag is full, it needs to be cleaned. You will know it's time to clean the Dust Bag when the 'Dust Bag full' light glows, or when the suction power drops and the sound of the motor increases substantially. 1. Open the top lid by pressing the Button below the handle 2. The lid gets detached 3. Slide out the reusable dust bag from the lid by pulling the plastic collar 4. Unzip the reusable dust bag, empty contents and dust it thoroughly 5. Zip up the reusable dust bag 6. Slide the plastic collar back onto the top lid 7. Re-fix the lid Cleaning Vacuum Cleaner Use water or litmusless cleaner to clean vacuum cleaner's body. Don't use gas, alcohol and other organic cleaners or nonlitmusless cleaner. Keep cleaning cloth dry and keep water off vacuum cleaner to avoid damage of your motor. Vacuum Cleaner Storage Insert the fixer of floor brush into the bottom groove of vacuum cleaner, and then vacuum cleaner may stand upright alone to store. Warning: Always unplug from electrical outlet before removing the Dust Bag! Dust Bag and its filter must be used while operating the vacuum cleaner. 10

PRECAUTIONS

Your Forbes Trendy Steel is designed for years of trouble-free service - even in difficult Indian conditions. But like all hard-working machines, it benefits from a little care and attention. Make certain that your Forbes Trendy Steel is cleaned and serviced at least twice a year. Ensure that the reusable Dust Bag is cleaned regularly. 1. Use only the Forbes Trendy Steel reusable dust bag - it is specially designed to keep in the dust while letting air pass through. 2. Your Forbes Trendy Steel can run for 3 hours non-stop or until the dust bag is full. After 3 hours, it should be rested for an hour. 3. If the reusable dust bag gets full before 3 hours, switch off your Forbes Trendy Steel, clear the dust bag and you can resume immediately. 4. Under no circumstances should you open the motor as this could nullify your warranty. If you face any problem, contact the authorised service provider. 5. Do not use your Forbes Trendy Steel on wet surfaces or allow water to enter the machine. It will damage the motor. 6. Do not connect the spray jar or the car wash to the suction end. This may damage the motor.

NOTE
1. In case your Forbes Trendy Steel gets over-heated due to blockage in the suction tube, the thermal cut-out trips and protects the motor. The unit automatically resets itself cooling down within ten minutes. 2. Your Forbes Trendy Steel is provided with turbine-type fans and air-guides rotating with a high speed motor, for effective suction. 3. The tonal value of the colour of your Forbes Trendy Steel may differ from that shown on the carton, poster, advertisement or any other promotional material. 4. Modifications in the product may be introduced from time to time. Details given in the manual are subject to change without prior notice. 5. Superior grade heat resistant ABS plastic is used to make your Forbes Trendy Steel superior in strength and able to withstand higher temperatures.

Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord. Do not handle the plug or the appliance with wet hands. Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair and anything that may reduce airflow. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts. Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes. Turn off the power control before unplugging. Use extra care when cleaning on stairs. Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids such as gasoline or use in areas where they may be present. Look on your vacuum cleaner and follow all label and marking instructions. Keep end of hose, wands and other openings away from your face and body. Do not use the vacuum cleaner without dust cup filter in place. Do not use the product during voltage fluctuations. Do not use the product when there is heavy lightning and thunder. Always unplug this appliance before connecting or disconnecting vacuum cleaner hose. Store the vacuum cleaner indoors. Put the vacuum cleaner away after use to prevent tripping accidents. Using improper voltage may result in damage to the motor and possible injury to the user. Correct voltage is listed on the rating label. Use only on dry surfaces. Do not use for any purpose other than described in this user manual. If the vacuum cleaner is damaged, the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person must repair it in order to avoid a hazard.

TROUBLESHOOTING

The dust escapes from the appliance

WARRANTY

Forbes Trendy Steel vacuum cleaners are warranted against defects arising out of faulty design, workmanship and materials, for a period of 12 months from the date of the invoice, subject to the following conditions: 1. The customer will notify the company promptly about any defects noticed and give the company or its authorised dealer sufficient opportunity to inspect, test and remedy them, for which the customer will deposit the goods, if necessary, with the companys office/service centre along with the original invoice, in the city where they are sold. 2. Inspection and test report of the companys office/Service Centre will be treated as final and binding under the warranty for determining defects, repairs/alterations required or carried out, or certifying working of the goods thereafter. 3. The company or its authorised dealer will be entitled to retain any defective parts replaced under the warranty. 4. The companys liability under the warranty will be limited only to defects which occur under the conditions of normal operation and under proper use. It excludes defects occurring because of abuse, faulty care or maintenance, repairs/alterations to goods or parts by others, use on electrical supply for which the goods are not designed or to damage caused by lightning or other electrical disturbances. 5. Components subject to wear, such as flexible cable, carbon brushes and accessories, are not covered by this warranty. 6. The customer will have no claim under this warranty in respect of any personal injury, damage to property or consequential damages, or for utilisation of the goods not in accordance with the user manual. Note : The undernoted expressions should have the following meaning. The goods shall mean goods described in the purchase agreement. The Customer shall mean the original purchaser under the purchase agreement. The company shall mean EUREKA FORBES LIMITED. NB: For registration of the warranty, please fill up the details in the warranty card and mail the same to Eureka Forbes Limited.

POST-WARRANTY
1. The Customer may be offered a yearly Service Contract at the prevailing Company rates and terms. 2. In case the Customer does not wish to enter the Service Contract, he has the option of calling our Service Centre and having his Forbes Trendy Steel serviced on an actual basis i.e. by paying for labour cost and spares needed to attend to that Service/Complaint call at the prevailing company rates. Such service will be rendered by the company in towns/places where the company has its Service Centres.
