Hyundai i10

The irresistible i10 is fully equipped and is tailor made for the city. It is the proud owner of the longest wheelbase and three rear seats. You can pack your i10 car with a lot more. The i10 is streetwise, chilly and spacious for the city rides too. The air condition comes across as standard and has front and front side airbags with a fully integrated audio system. The i10 features a unique centre console mounted gear shift. The i-shift transmission takes away the stress from the arm in case of long drives. Simultaneously, it renders greater legroom for the passengers who are in the front seats.

The i10 has a number of safety features. The dual air bags provide ample cushioning in case of accidents. The flexible membrane covers the passengers. The antilock braking system (ABS) helps to prevent the locking up of the wheel during sudden brakes thus avoiding skidding while retaining car stability and steer ability.

The multi-reflector clear glass fog lamp is another feature that ensures maximum visibility even in adverse weather conditions. The clear rear combination lamp is a sleek, elongated feature that helps in improved visibility for trailing vehicles. The instrument cluster has many warning lamps like low fuel warning lamp, seat belt warning lamp, door and tail gate ajar warning lamp, MDPS warning lamp, ABS warning lamp and air bag warning lamp. This is in order to ensure that the driver is aware of all the conditions of the car at all times, ensuring-safety The seat belt is one of the major safety measures in all cars. It contains an electronically controlled retractor called pretensioner.

The i10 measures a diminutive 3565mm long, 1595mm wide and it has a 2380mm wheelbase. These dimensions mean it will be targeted primarily at the Asian and Euro markets, where demand for baby cars is booming.

Motive power for the i10 comes from a 1.1-litre engine with a towering 49kW, and there's also a 1.2-litre turbo-diesel unit.

The i10 will be one the better equipped baby cars originating from an Indian factory as standard kit across the range includes air-con, front power windows, central locking, power steering, alloy wheels, body-coloured bumpers and a CD player.

In Europe, the i10 will lock horns with the likes of the Toyota Aygo/Citroen C1/Peugeot 107 triplets, although it's slightly larger than this trio.

The i10 is the second car (after the i30) to feature Hyundai's 'i'-prefixed naming protocol, and still to come are the i20 (which will replace the Getz), i40 (Sonata replacement) and i50 (Grandeur replacement).

Although undoubtedly inspired by Apple's iPod, Hyundai's new naming strategy is also conceivably a ploy to mimic the alphanumeric model designations of Euro carmakers such as Mercedes-Benz and Volvo.

The heavy motors like buses, trucks, defense vehicles, auto rickshaws and other multi- utility vehicles are manufactured by Tata-Telco, Ashok Leyland, Eicher Motors, Bajaj, Mahindra and Mahindra, etc.

Following Indias growing openness, the arrival of new and existing models, easy availability of finance at relatively low rate of interest and price discounts offered by the dealers and manufacturers all have stirred the demand for vehicles and a strong growth of the Indian automobile industry

Small Car Market in India

The small car market in India is increasing by leaps and bounds. The indigenous market for small cars now occupies a substantial share of around 70% of the annual car production in India of about one million. The main players in the car market like Tata Motors and Maruti Udyog are fiercely competitive and more or less all the automobile companies in India that have forayed into the production of small cars are trying to out-do each other in terms of design, innovation, pricing, and technology, in order to gain control of the small car market in India.

The biggest players in the Indian small car market are engaging in a healthy competition, which has intensified since the Indian government decided to boost the small car sector. In this regard, a reduction in the excise duties has been thought of. Even the engine capacities are expected to be raised to 1500cc. The new small cars in India cars may even be fueled by gasoline and diesel in the future. With all these facilities, it has been estimated that the indigenous car market is going to move beyond the 3.5 million mark very soon Mahindra & Mahindra Limited company (M&M ltd co. ) is an

Indian multinational automobile manufacturing corporation

headquartered

in Mumbai,

Maharashtra, India. It is one of the largest vehicle manufacturers by production in the Republic of India. It is a part of Mahindra Group, an Indian conglomerate. The company was founded in 1945 in Ludhiana as Mahindra & Mohammed by brothers K.C. Mahindra and J.C. Mahindra and Malik Ghulam Mohammed. After India

gained independence and Pakistan was formed, Mohammed emigrated to Pakistan. The company changed its name to Mahindra & Mahindra in 1948.[4] It is ranked 21 in the list of top companies of India in Fortune India 500 in 2011. Major competitors in the Indian market include Maruti Motors (a 60% owned subsidiary of Suzuki Motors from Japan), Tata Motors (fully owned byTata Sons; Owner of British Jaguar Land Rover), Toyota, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz (Merc) (Based in Poona, Maharastra in India; A subsidiary of Daimler AG from Germany) and others

Mahindra & Mahindra was set up as a steel trading company in 1945. It eventually saw business opportunity in expanding into manufacturing and selling larger MUVs, starting with assembly under licence of the Willys Jeep in India. Soon established as the Jeep manufacturers of India, the company later commenced upon the task of expanding itself, choosing to utillize the manufacturing industry of light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and agricultural tractors. Today, Mahindra & Mahindra is a key game player in the utility vehicle manufacturing and branding sectors in the Indian automobile industry with its flagship UV Scorpio and swiftly exploits India's growing global market presence in both the automotive and farming industries to push its products in other countries. Over the past few years, the company has taken interest in new industries and in foreign markets. They entered the two-wheeler industry by taking over Kinetic Motors in India. M&M also has controlling stake in REVA Electric Car Company and acquired South Korea's SsangYong Motor Company in 2011. The US based Reputation Institute once ranked Mahindra amongst the top Ten Indian companies in its 'Global 200: The World's Best Corporate Reputations' list. Mahindra & Mahindra, branded on its products usually as 'Mahindra', produces SUVs, saloon cars, pickups, commercial vehicles, and two wheeled motorcycles and tractors. It owns assembly plants in Mainland China (PRC) and the United Kingdom, and has three assembly plants in the United States. Mahindra maintains business relations with foreign companies likeRenault SA, France and Navistar International, USA. M&M has a global presence and its products are exported to several countries. Its global subsidiaries include Mahindra Europe Srl. based in Italy, Mahindra USA Inc., Mahindra South Africa and Mahindra (China) Tractor Co. Ltd. Mahindra started making passenger vehicles firstly with the Logan in April 2007 under the Mahindra Renault joint venture. M&M will make its maiden entry into the heavy trucks segment with Mahindra Navistar, the joint venture withInternational Truck, USA. Mahindra produces a wide range of vehicles including MUVs, LCVs and three wheelers. It manufactures over 20 models of cars including larger, multi-utility vehicles like the Scorpio and the Bolero. It formerly had a joint venture withFord called Ford India Private Limited to build passenger cars. At the 2008 Delhi Auto Show, Mahindra executives said the company is pursuing an aggressive product expansion program that would see the launch of several new platforms

and vehicles over the next three years, including an entry-level SUV designed to seat five passengers and powered by a small turbodiesel engine. True to their word, Mahindra & Mahindra launched theMahindra Xylo in January 2009, and as of June 2009, the Xylo has sold over 15000 units. Also in early 2008, Mahindra commenced its first overseas CKD operations with the launch of the Mahindra Scorpio in Egypt, in partnership with the Bavarian Auto Group. This was soon followed by assembly facilities in Brazil. Vehicles assembled at the plant in Bramont, Manaus, include Scorpio Pik Ups in single and double cab pick-up body styles as well as SUVs. Mahindra planned to sell the diesel SUVs and pickup trucks starting in late 2010 in North America through an independent distributor, Global Vehicles USA, based in Alpharetta, Georgia. Mahindra announced it will import pickup trucks from India in knockdown kit (CKD) form to circumvent the Chicken tax. CKDs are complete vehicles that will be assembled in the U.S. from kits of parts shipped in crates. On 18 October 2010, however, it was reported that Mahindra had indefinitely delayed the launch of vehicles into the North American market, citing legal issues between it and Global Vehicles after Mahindra retracted its contract with Global Vehicles earlier in 2010, due to a decision to sell the vehicles directly to consumers instead of through Global Vehicles. However, a November 2010 report quoted John Perez, the CEO of Global Vehicles USA, as estimating that he expects Mahindras small diesel pickups to go on sale in the U.S. by spring 2011, although legal complications remain, and Perez, while hopeful, admits that arbitration could take more than a year. Later reports suggest that the delays may be due to an Mahindra scrapping the original model of the truck and replacing it with an upgraded one before selling them to Americans In June 2012, a mass tortmass tort lawsuit was filed against Mahindra by its American dealers, alleging the company of conspiracy and fraud. Mahindra & Mahindra has a controlling stake in Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles. In 2011, it also gained a controlling stake in South Korea's SsangYong Motor Company. Mahindra has launched its relatively heavily publicised SUV, XUV 500, code named as W201 in September 2011. The new SUV by Mahindra has been designed in-house and it is developed on the first global SUV platform that could be used for developing more SUVs. In India, the new Mahindra XUV 500 comes in a price range between Rs 11.40 lakh to Rs 15

lakh. Besides India, the company also targets Europe, Africa, Australia and Latin America for this model. Mahindra President Mr Pawan Goenka stated that the company plans to launch six new models this fiscal. The company launched CNG version of its mini truck Maxximo on 29 June 2012. A new version of Verito in diesel and petrol options was launched by the company on 26 July 2012 to compete with Maruti's Dzire and Toyota Kirloskar Motor's Etios. Military Defense The company has built and assembled military vehicles, commencing in 1947 with the importation of the Willys Jeep for use in World War II. Its line of military vehicles include the Axe. It also maintains a joint venture with BAE Systems, Defence Land Systems India. Energy Mahindra & Mahindra entered the energy sector in 2002, in response to growing demands for increased electric power in India. Since then, more than 150,000 Mahindra Powerol engines and diesel generator sets (gensets) have been installed in India, offering standard proper quality power, as do most larger companies, in areas with arguably less relliable grid electricity. The inverters, batteries, and gensets are manufactured at three facilities in Pune (Maharastra), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), and Delhi; and 160 service points across India offer 24-7 support to most key markets. Powerol is present in countries across Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asiaand expanding into the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, and Nepal. Mahindra Powerol's energy services consist mostly of power leasing and telecom infrastructure management. In 2006, it became a major market leader in the telecom segment (and in 2011, its market share passed 45 percent). In 2007, it won the Frost and Sullivan "Voice of the Customer" award for best practices in telecom. Mahindra Cleantech Ltd specialises in eco-friendly, or 'green' power. In response to growing acceptance of Solar Power, it formed a subsidiary, Mahindra Solar, in 2010 to offer a range of solar solutions, both off grid and on grid, alongside Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC). Mahindra EPC is the Engineering Procurement & Construction arm of the Mahindra group. A portfolio company under the Cleantech arm of Mahindra Partners, they offer solar solutions spanning On-Grid solutions, EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) and Off-Grid

Product solutions. The company commenced its operations in the year 2011 and has successfully commissioned over 60 MW worth of Solar PV projects. Meanwhile, its off-grid products include power packs and rooftop setups for business organisations and public institutions alongside rural electrification through lanterns and home and street lighting systems. The company works closely with Mahindras farm equipment division to offer lighting products to some of the more rural areas in India. It also works with Mahindra Powerol to offer solar power backup to telecom sites in India. In 2011, Mahindra Solar received a CRISIL rating of SP1A in 2011, the highest rating for any solar photovaltaic off-grid company. Mahindra began manufacturing tractors for the Indian market sometime during the early '60s. Today, it is one of the top three tractor companies in the world with annual sales totaling more than 150,000 tractors. It has expanded its product-line to include farm-support services via Mahindra AppliTrac (farm mechanisation products), Mahindra ShubhLabh (seeds, crop protection, and market linkages and distribution), and the Samriddhi Initiative (farm counselling and information services). Mahindra & Mahindras farm equipment division (Mahindra Tractors) is one of the largest tractor companies in the world, with more than 1,000 dealers servicing more than 1.45 million customers. Mahindra tractors are available in 40 countries, including India, the United States, China, Australia, New Zealand, Africa (Nigeria, Mali, Chad, Gambia, Angola, Sudan, Ghana, and Morocco), Latin America (Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Central America, and the Caribbean), South Asia (Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal), the Middle East (Iran and Syria) and Eastern Europe (Serbia, Turkey, and Macedonia. In the 2010-11 Mahindra entered in Micro dripp irrigation with the takeover of Epc Industrie Ltd, Nashik. Mahindra Tractors manufactures its products at four plants in India, two in Mainland China, three in the United States, and one in Australia. It has three major subsidiaries: Mahindra USA, Mahindra (China) Tractor Company, and Mahindra Yueda (Yancheng) Tractor Company (a joint venture with the Jiangsu Yueda Group). The company has garnered the highest customer satisfaction index (CSI) in the industry at 88 percent. In its 2009 survey of Asias 200 most admired and innovative companies, the Wall Street Journal named Mahindra & Mahindra one of the 10 most innovative Indian companies. It earned a 2008 Golden Peacock Award in the Innovative Product/Services category for its in-house development of a load-car. In 2007, Mahindra & Mahindra won the Deming

Application Prize and the Japan Quality Medal for Total Quality Management excellence in entire business operations. In addition to tractors, Mahindra sells other farm equipment. The Mahindra Scorpio is an SUV manufactured by Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, the flagship company of the Indian Mahindra Group. It was the first SUV from the company built for the global market. The Scorpio has been successfully accepted in international markets across the globe, and will shortly be launched in the United States. The Scorpio was conceptualized and designed by the in-house integrated design and manufacturing team of M&M. Development Prior to the mid-nineties, Mahindra & Mahindra was an automobile assembly company. The company manufactured Willys Jeeps and its minor modified versions, with modifications carried out in India. In 1996, the company planned to enter the SUV segment with a new product which could compete globally. Since M & M did not have the technical knowhow to handle such an ambitious product, they devised an entirely new concept among Indian auto companies. Roping in new executives who had worked in the auto industry in western countries, such as Dr. Pawan Goenka and Alan Durante, the company broke the rule that says automakers must design, engineer and test their own vehicles while spending millions of dollars in the process. The new Mahindra Scorpio SUV had all of its major systems designed directly by suppliers, with the only inputs from Mahindra being design, performance specifications and program cost. The design and engineering of the systems were carried out by suppliers, as well as testing, validation and materials selection. Sourcing and engineering locations were also chosen by suppliers. The parts were later assembled in a Mahindra plant under the Mahindra badge, being a well-known brand in India. Using this method, the company was able to build from scratch a new vehicle with virtually 100 percent supplier involvement from concept to reality, at a cost of Rs 600 crore ($120 million), including improvements to the plant. The project took five years to move from concept to final product. The cost was estimated in 2002 to be Rs 550 crore

The Mahindra Scorpio was launched in India in 2002. Soon after the success of the Scorpio, Mahindra launched an upgraded Scorpio with plush seats and rear centre arm rest, dual tone exterior colour and various minor changes.

Second Generation In April 2006, the company launched an upgraded Scorpio, dubbing it the 'All-New' Scorpio. At the Auto Expo 2006 in Delhi, Mahindra also showcased their future plans on the Scorpio model by showcasing a hybrid Scorpio with CRDe engine and a Scorpio based on a pickup truck . The hybrid, the first such vehicle developed in India, was developed by Arun Jaura, a former employee of Ford. His senior, Dr. Pawan Goenka, a former engineer at GM, heads Mahindra's automotive division and oversees the Scorpio project. In June 2007, Mahindra launched a pick-up version in India known as the Scorpio Getaway. Recently, M & M has launched a face-lifted version of the model. In November 2007, Mahindra launched a teaser campaign for their new Scorpio Model, the m_Hawk, on their official website. Safety The upgraded Mahindra Scorpio Getaway, launched in Australia in mid-2009, received additional safety features to the Indian model such as ABS brakes and airbags in an attempt to raise its rating to a minimum of 3 stars from the current 2 star ANCAP rating. The 2012 model scored 6.6 points out of a possible 16, giving it a 3-star ANCAP rating Third Generation On April 14, 2008, Mahindra revealed a concept of a diesel-electric hybrid version of their Scorpio SUV at the 2008 SAE World Congress. On September 21, 2008, Mahindra launched their latest Scorpio with a 6-speed automatic transmission gearbox. mHawk Engine The all new Mahindra Scorpio finds its way across the unmatched with its brawn to rule mHawk Diesel Engine. The Engine holds a capacity of 2.2 L with 4 cylinders that delivers impressive power to this SUV. The mHawk Technology has been well configured with an advanced top- mounted intercooler that keeps the engine cool. Moreover the Engine is based on the Bosch Common Rail system with solenoid injectors and fuel spray design that improves fuel efficiency. The two chain drive stage system and hydraulic lash adjuster keep the engine quiet at all times.

Western Europe In Western Europe, so as not to confuse the vehicle with an existing Ford vehicle of the same name, it is called the Mahindra Goa.

United States Mahindra has for a while had plans on exporting to the United States, possibly with a dieselelectric hybrid. In 2006, it entered into an agreement with Global Vehicles USA to import and distribute Mahindra vehicles.[13] It originally planned to release a modified Pickup version of the Scorpio, named Appalachia,[14] in the US by the end of 2009,[15] but legal problems have pushed back its entry into the US market. It was later upgrade in 2003 as a part of next improved Versions first EX and then EX2 along with Limited edition rollout with improved interiors and Mechanics which included Power steering, fuel pump, electricals By far the TCIC EX2 2003-2006 models were the most reliable and refined TCIC safari The Safari was extensively modified in August 2005, which included the addition of a new 3-litre DiCOR engine along with modified interiors and exteriors. This 3-litre engine is the first diesel engine from Tata Motors with common rail technology. A 2-litre petrol engine[MPFi] was also added to the range that same year. It was this modified version that won the Motor Forum's Car of the Year for 2007, in the SUV category. Voted by the users in India, it beat out rivals such as the Toyota RAV4, Land Rover Freelander and Honda CR-V. In October 2007 Tata unveiled the 2.2-litre Safari DiCOR which had an increased power output of 143 PS (105 KW). But it was shortly replaced by the more advanced DiCOR 2.2 VTT (Variable Turbine Technology) engine which had a power output of 140 PS (103 kW) at 4000 rpm and a torque output of 320 Nm (236 lbfft) at 1700 rpm. It is widely regarded as the best engine used by Tata Motors Tata recently launched a new variant of safari called Safari GX. The new Safari GX sits just below current top end variant Safari VX. Safari Gx gets dual tone exteriors, unique leather cum fabric upholstery, Reverse Guide System (without a camera which along with the Screen in the Internal Rearview Mirror is only available in the VX variant). Another new feature is indicators on the Outer Rear View Mirrors.

First Generation Launched in 1998 in Turbo Diesel form, the Safari had 87 PS (64 kW) power. It came with a synchromesh forward five-speed manual gearbox, with a 4X4 option. However, it was regarded to be grossly underpowered, and had a lot of body roll. The new Tata Safari DiCOR (DiCOR standing for "Direct Injection Common Rail engine") is powered by a 3000 cc inline-four cylinder engine that develops 116 PS (85 kW) at 3000 rpm and 300 Nm (221 lbfft) of torque between 1600 and 2000 rpm. The engine is taken from the Tata 407, a truck manufactured by Tata Motors. The new engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox, with a new, sporty gear lever

2007 revision

Tata displayed the Euro 4 compliant 2.2-litre DiCOR engine with 140 PS (103 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lbfft) of torque at the 2006 Bologna Motor Show. It was launched on October 5, 2007. It has some improved interior features like two-tone upholstery and leather seats. The high end version of the Safari comes with full safety features like airbags and ABS with EBD. Additional features like rear AC vents, reversing camera, DVD player with LCD screens in the front seats headrests and dimming lights too are also available as an option. Four-wheel drive options are available on EX, GX and VX variants which, uses a Borg Warner shift on the fly transfer case. India's leading automotive portal CarWale recently did a series of off-road trails on a Tata Safari DiCOR 2.2 44. The only modifications done to the Safari were removal of running boards and addition 15 inch rims shod with 235/75 R 15 Radial tyres. The off-road performance of the Safari was highly praised by them. Driving impressions The Safari weighs adding an extra 110 kg (240 lb) for the 4WD variant. for which even 320 Nm (240 lbft) of torque at 1600 rpm delivers a sluggish performance With the

DiCOR engine, the 4WD Safari is substantially quicker than the Scorpio or Innova also with a lighter engine under the hood it feels more agile

The car has been described as slow, unrefined and "pedestrian" when used on the roads, although its off-road performance has been given praise by some reviewers. European reviews have also drawn attention to the standard of the interior and the original engine being underpowered, sluggish, noisy and idling poorly when cold With respect to its power and handling, British television program "Fifth Gear" referred to the Safari as having "about as much finesse as a three-legged giraffe".

TOYATA The Toyota Innova is a Toyota-designed Compact MPV i.e. being less than 4,600 mm (181.1 in) in length as per the European system of size classification, produced in Indonesia under supervision by Toyota Astra Motor since 2003. As with Toyota Kijang, which it replaced, the Toyota Innova is produced and first marketed in 2004 in Indonesia. Toyota Innova is part of Toyota's IMV program together with the Hilux Vigo pickup truck and the Fortuner SUV. Its official name in Indonesia is Toyota Kijang Innova, while for other countries it is Innova. The Innova is also sold in India (replacing Toyota Qualis), Malaysia (replacing

Toyota Unser), the Philippines (replacing Toyota Revo), Taiwan (replacing the Toyota Zace surf), Vietnam (replacing Toyota Zace), and Thailand. Unlike some of the Innova's competition, such as the TATA Sumo Grande, Chevrolet Tavera, or the Mahindra Xylo, but like the newly launched Tata Aria, the Innova looks more like a minivan. The Toyota Innova is also available in Brunei, Saudi Arabia, and theUAE. ENGINE

Powering the Innova is either a gasoline 2.0 L 136 PS (100 kW) 1TR-FE VVT-i, a 2.70 L (2TR-FE) version of the same, or a 2.50 L 102 PS (75 kW) 2KD-FTV D4-Dcommon rail diesel engine. Trim levels are J, E, G, and V. The 2.70 L is only for the V, withautomatic transmission. The 2.7 L gasoline engine was dropped from the Indonesian market due to low demand. The diesel variants use turbocharged 2KD-FTV engine which produces 102 hp and 260 Nm of torque. Both gasoline and diesel versions are available in either manual or automatic transmission. All variants use RWD configuration. Variants J In Indonesia and the Philippines, this is the basic edition of the Innova. In Indonesia, a 5seater version is available for commercial purposes. E In most areas, the E is the basic edition of the Innova.

In the Philippines and Indonesia, this is the middle class edition of the Innova. The 2009 facelifted versions receives features taken from the now discontinued first generation G variant. G The G includes convenience and trim features. V The V is the top-of-the-line variant and one of two engines is available: the gasoline 1TR-FE 2.0 L VVT-i or the diesel 2KD-FTV 2.5 L D4-D. A four-speed automatic transmission is standard as well as ABS and airbag system. In Indonesia, until 2009 facelift, the "V" received the larger and more powerful 2.7 L 2TR-FE (which also powered Toyota Fortuner), only in conjunction with an automatic transmission. Innova Sport Runner (Philippines only) In the Philippines, Toyota released an upgraded variant of the Innova E trim called the Sport Runner. It is only available with a 2.5 L 2KD-FTV D4-D turbo diesel engine and has a choice of automatic or manual transmission.

FACELIFTS 2009 Facelifted Toyota Innovas were first spotted in Indonesia. It has restyled front and rear bumper, new front grille, and rear tail lamps. The V variants use updated wheels. The updated Innova also features automatic climate control, side door impact beams, as well as new extras such as parking sensors and an in-dash CD changer. It is on sale in Far East Asian and Middle East markets. The new innova was launched in November 2008 in the Philippines and on January 28, 2009 in India. In Indonesia, the facelifted versions include the E variant, which now features the parts from the first-generation G variant.

2011 On July 15, 2011, PT Toyota Astra Motor launched a major facelift models called Grand New Kijang Innova. It features revised headlights, grille, bonnet, bumpers & tail lights. The interior is updated with new steering wheel, new air-conditioning knobs (for non V variants), and revised center-dash.

Malaysia The Innova is launched on the 27th of May, 2005 replacing Toyota Unser. The Innova currently offered in two variants. Both are powered by Toyota's 1TR-FE 2.0 litre engine featuring VVT-i. The powertrains available are either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic with ECT. The Innova is a slow-seller in Malaysia because of its frame and ladder chassis, poor weight to power ratio, and absence of a diesel variant unlike the preceding Toyota Zace. Diesels are often favoured in this segment because of improved fuel economy and high low-rpm torque. Moreover, the rise of reconditioned imported cars such as the Toyota Wish and Toyota Estima further slows down its sales.Nissan Grand Livina, Proton Exora and Perodua Alza have had better sales because of their monocoque body, which leads to better handling and lower asking price. 2011 Facelift: In Malaysia three version of the Innova was available: 2.0E (manual), 2.0E (automatic) and 2.0G (automatic) Engine Powering the Malaysian version of the Innova is a 1998cc 4-cylinder In-line, 16-valve, DOHC with VVT-I. It produce 100Kw (136PS) at 5,600 rpm and 182 NM of torque (18.6 KG-m) at 4,000 rpm. Transmission The 2.0E (manual) uses a 5 speed manual gearbox while the 2.0E (automatic) and 2.0G (automatic) have to use a 4 speed auto box.

Chassis The suspension used in the Innova in Malaysia are double wishbone with coil springs and stabilizer bar at the front and 4-link with coil spring and lateral rod at the back. The brakes are ventilated disc for the front and drum for the back. The tyres used are 205/65R15, Alloy.

Three variants of Toyota Innova come with a petrol engine option which is powered by a 1,998 cc, 1TR-FE, gasoline, inline four-cylinder petrol engine with electronic fuel injection. The diesel variants of Toyota Innova are powered by a 2,494 cc, 2KD-FTV, inline four-cylinder diesel engine with turbocharger, with common-rail direct injection. Philippines The Innova was introduced in 2005 to replace the Revo and bring it to international level. Variants include the J, the E (mid-level model with power features, Airbags, and only available with a Diesel engine, but a Gasoline engine variant was added for MY 2008), the G(middle model with carry over features from the E Variant but with Leather seats and interiors), and V, (high end model, which was introduced in the last quarter of 2006 and only available with an automatic transmission, captains chairs on the middle row, and high end audio system). DNA drive: Mahindra XUV 500 v/s Tata Safari Storme In one corner, we have the freshly refreshed Tata Safari, in the other, we have Mahindra's answer to the growing high-end SUV market, the XUV 500. In one corner, we have the freshly refreshed Tata Safari, in the other, we have Mahindras answer to the growing high-end SUV market, the XUV 500. It looks like were in for a great fight indeed. But before we get started though, lets take a quick jog through the history of these brands. The Safari is legitimately one of Indias first homegrown SUVs. Sure, there have been a few before it, but it is the first one aimed not at the rural customer, but the urban commuter who might come upon a broken path some day. And right from the word go, it was one of the most desirable cars on the market. Cut to the current scenario and the XUV seems to have slotted

itself neatly into the position of being an object of desire. So, lets get right into it and find out which of these behemoths reigns supreme on our turf! Looks The Safari is the newest of the bunch here, but looks wise, its a near -dead-ringer for the old one that set wheel to our roads way back in 1997. Thats not necessarily a bad thing because the Safari had the right proportions from the word go. Only one wishes more contemporary details were there though we like this design well enough. That famous spare wheel on the tailgate has now been relocated to under the body, so the car looks smaller visually now. Moving onto the XUV, it takes everything most buyers want and combines it into one neat unit: a sleek aerodynamic shape, chrome embellishments here and there, LED running lights and all the right creases and curves. The XUV still turns heads, over a year after launch, and thats quite a feat Mahindra has pulled off. Round 1 to XUV. Interiors If the exteriors of the cars didnt polarise your opinion on which you like, the interiors sure will. They both belong to two different camps of interior design. The Safari is understated, with just-necessary controls. The XUV, on the other hand, comes with all the bells and whistles, including mood lighting, LEDs everywhere, a big touchscreen audio system that doubles as the information system, the whole shebang. So, you either like it or you dont, theres generally no middle ground here. Well stay this round. Performance Coming to the performance, the Safari is lightly based on the Arias platform, which is a proper body-on-frame job, with the engine placed at the front powering the wheels at the back. In fact, the same engine from the Aria, the 2.2-litre diesel engine makes its way under the hood of the Safari, too. This engine makes use of a variable vane turbocharger, which means that there is much better response at the lower end of the rev range and doesnt compromise on power up top either. This powertrain is a little on the noisy side, but youll not find it lacking at any point. Theres no lag and it really doesnt run out of steam until youre well into triple digit speeds. Of course, even at those speeds, youre not going to be leaving the XUV behind, No sir!

These two cars are about as evenly matched as can be in the powertrain department. Even the XUV uses the services of a 2.2-litre diesel engine that makes about the same power as the Safari does (138 bhp) with the only difference being the addition of a sixth cog on the gearbox, which will help in long highway jaunts. There is one difference though, and its a fundamental one, the XUV is a front wheel driven car, one of the firsts for Mahindra, and that means that while performance is fantastic, there is a bit of torque steer when youre on the power. There have also been a few reports of the transmissions failing because of the high power output, but rest assured, Mahindra is working on it and if you choose to buy one, you will have some peace of mind because they arent going to leave you high and dry. Ride and handling That same fundamental difference in the cars drivetrain layouts makes a huge difference in the way the two cars ride and handle. We prefer the slightly more planted ride of the Safari over the super-soft XUV though. Mind you, in this company, saying planted doesnt mean that it has a stiff ride, far from it, in fact. The Safari dives and rolls as you accelerate or change directions, but at the same time, it holds onto the road pretty well, giving you the confidence to take on the corners, even though your stomach may say otherwise. The XUV rides phenomenally well, better than the Safari, even, but in doing so, it loses out a little in the handling department. As the speeds rise (and they certainly will, with that excellent engine under the hood), the car starts to wander a little and you dont have quite as much confidence to corner at high speeds as much as you do in the Safari. For a city based commute though, its the one wed go with. It will cocoon you with its ride and make you forget the state of the roads you drive on. Verdict So, then, all said and done, which would we recommend? This is no easy decision, really. Theyre both absolutely fantastic products, but cater to two opposite ends of the spectrum. The Safari is for those that dont really care too much about telling the world what they have, instead taking pleasure in the things others cant experience. The XUV offers both enjoyment and also a bit of show as well, if youre into that sort of thing. For us, the XUV ticks most of the boxes. But the Safari is in its rearview mirror. As they say, objects in the rearview mirror are closer than you think.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
In the initial stages, the research work included understanding the basics of how does the Hyundai , Mahindra ,Tata works and an overview of various functions performed by it. I was assigned the project on debt markets and investment of surplus funds (it also included investment of PF money). The first and foremost requirement for this was basic knowledge about the debt markets. For this I went through FIMMDA-Debt Market (Basic) Module. Investments of surplus funds are always vulnerable to fluctuations in interest rates. To effectively manage investments a constant watch on the factors affecting debt markets is required. This called for constant monitoring of debt markets and interest rates and regular discussions with my project guide on his views under the current scenario. To have a better view about this segment I visited Primary Dealers and Secondary Dealers and Mutual Fund Houses to have an idea about the debt markets from their point of view and also to understand their operational aspects. Lastly, recommending on the best possible investment avenues available both for corporate money and EPF money. Hyundai, Mahindra & Tata is one of the biggest corporate treasuries in India. Any treasury can

either function as a profit centre or as a support function to the main business activity with an objective of efficient cash flow management. Hyundai, Mahindra & Tata works as a support function with an objective of efficient cash flow

management. The diagram below depicts the broad functions performed at Hyundai, Mahindra & Tata . For efficient management of risks two basic things that are done :

Management: Requires Preparation of Cash Budget with the help of the information collected from the other departments so as to forecast the receipts and disbursements for the next planning period. It will help to explore the estimates of cash receipts and disbursements, which will result in an estimate of the cash surplus or deficit.

Constant monitoring of reports of positions for different interest rates, currencies, and other market rates

OBJECTIVES: Adequate supply of cash for smooth flow of business operations and also in desired currency. Curtailing mismatches in day to day cash operations to reduce interest cost. MIS along with cash collection and disbursements.
