Cai Lei

Having graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2009, Cai Lei who was born in Jilin Province in China had may inspirations from his personal experiences, feelings and own perspective on life. He often infuses emotion and poetry, creating a striking balance between what may seem fragile and inanimate. Cai Lei has always believed that by bringing life into the artworks, even just an element or a piece of it would allow his artwork to exude the truth of what he sees and only through, the viewers heart can be conquered and their soul can be stirred. With his constant exploration, we see in one of his recent works where he used the soft leather material to show the old physical form of a human body. He believes that sculpture art material can be attracting to the viewers. His sculptures, recreating objects or human figures are often astonishingly hyper-realistic. His attentive to the materials and its qualities to create the effect brings a sense of eccentric beauty of his installations and sculptures. Cai Leis works were exhibited in Liu Hai Su Museum in Shanghai and Museum of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in Chongqing where the feedbacks were overwhelming. His works often stir great emotion responses from the viewer as it often reminds of them of the brutal splendor of reality. His purpose is to provoke these emotions and reflect to the people on how these situations are often avoided as time passes by.
