Homework

Read page 158 of the textbook for a refresher on the events leading up to the
rebellion and answer the following question:
Were the Mtis justified in seizing Fort Garry? Write a paragraph defending
this action from the Mtis point of view, and a paragraph describing it from
the Canadian governments point of view

Next Class Project

The execution of Thomas Scott has recently taken place. There are many people
who are upset with Louis Riel over the events during the Red River Rebellion,
especially the execution of Scott. Your group works for a newspaper and must
publish a report on the events. You will either be assigned a group that will need to
publish a pro-Metis and pro-Riel article and picture, or a newspaper that is anti-
Metis and anti-Riel.

Depending on the perspective you will be assigned, you will choose an appropriate
heading, article and photo to add to your article. You will present your information
on a poster to the rest of the class.

Consider the events leading up to the rebellion to properly describe what happened
and why you either condemn or support Riels actions.
