The Research Paper: a final checklist

ENGL3129

The final research paper consists of all of the chapters you have been working on that is, the introduction through to the conclusion. Ensure that the first chapters that you have already submitted fit with the later chapters (e.g. you are no longer talking about what you will do.) You should revise the already submitted chapters as you think necessary, as they will be graded again as part of the final paper. The final research paper needs to have: The cover page (as supplied to you)

The signed statement of originality (as supplied to you) An abstract, which summarises the structure and content of your research paper. A contents page with page numbers The paper itself, divided into chapters, sections and subsections. Each chapter begins on a new page. Use clear chapter titles, which make the content clear. (e.g. NOT just Literature Review) A word count. The word limit: 8,000 words. (Be careful! Over-length papers get a lower grade!) A full bibliography, 100% correct and complete, following APA conventions. Appendices. Your original proposal and annotated bibliography (exactly as you submitted it) should be in the appendix, together any other relevant documents (e.g. a complete questionnaire).

Note: All data should be anonymous. It should not be possible to identify who your respondents are. Format Only use bold in headings.

Use 1 line spacing and 12pt or 13pt font size, Times New Roman, margins of 2.5 cm. (Ensure that do not go into the margins.) Do not justify the text. (Only the left margin has a straight edge.)

Include page numbers (English digits only). Check your work! Check the layout. It should be neat and in correct English. Spiral bind it.

Submissions You need to submit your paper in THREE ways: 1 Place your bound, printed paper in the submission box in the Secretarys office on 16th May. The box will be emptied at 12 noon. (Anything submitted after that will be marked late submission. If you want to submit before that day, place it in Dr Littlejohns mailbox. Do not give it to your tutor.) Also before 12 noon on 16th May, you must email copies of your research paper, as an attachment. 2 Email a copy to your tutor as an attachment, AND, at the same time, 3 Email a copy to: ENGL3129@gmail.com . (There is no need to include a message.) Email attachments You should only attach ONE document. This document should include the complete paper (with the cover, abstract, all pages, etc. IN THE CORRECT PAGE ORDER), and the appendix with your original, unchanged, proposal and annotated bibliography, and any other appendices. The file needs to be named as follows, to ensure it is correctly identified as your work:
3129 - Sec number your name topic area of your research paper.docx (or .doc)

Check that the file actually opens correctly. Put a subject header in the email: 3129: your section number and your name so your work is identified. Remember Name the file: 3129 Sec number your name topic area of your research paper.docx (or doc)
These details will affect your grade!
