Give each pair of students a newspaper. The objective is to practice speaking the present continuous The students will find a picture where there is an action and use present continuous to describe it. For example, in the sports sections, a student could say, He is playing soccer Motivate students to add as much as possible to the sentence. Name: Good ol Repetition Target Language: Pronunciation Procedure: A good repetition drill must last at least 10 minutes. The objective is to repeat a specific grammar to give the student a sense of the rhythm while using that grammar. Prepare 10-15 sentences using the same grammar with different subjects and complements. Heres an example: I like pizza, I like hamburgers, I like pasta, I like soda, I like Coke, I like Pepsi, I like fruit, I like vegetables. I like breakfast, I like dinner. I like pizza with pepperoni, I like hamburgers and French fries, I like pasta with bread, and so on. A repetition drill can become boring so you can change intonation every now and then. Also, change from talking slow to increasing speed.

Explain the students that you will write a scrambled sentence on the board and they will have to unscramble it. The objective is for students to have a sense of collocation of words in a sentence. Use the grammar that is being studied in class. Heres an example: Eat in will I house my---I will eat in my house. The first group that unscrambles the sentence gets points. Name: Bulls eye Target Language: Grammar Procedure: This activity is designed to review grammar. Make two teams. The students answer the questions orally, or by writing the answer on the board. The teacher asks the questions and if the answer is correct, they can shoot the target. The teacher must draw a bulls eye on the board from 50 points down to 10 points. Get a wet piece of toilet paper and this is what will be used as the dart. Make sure the paper is a bit damp so that when thrown it will be able to stick on the board. Name: Word Order Target Language: Grammar Procedure: This guide to basic word order will help you understand where to place adjectives and adverbs, as well as direct objects and indirect objects. Teacher will write sentences on the board. Pieces of paper will be cut out with the names of the different parts of the sentences. For example subject, verb, object. It could be anything actually, a coin, a tooth, or lucky charm. Students will throw the dice and say a sentence using the corresponding verb. For example, if the student gets a 5, he or she should say a sentence with the verb "visit." A student could say, "I visit my cousins on the weekend." The player who goes around twice wins.
