About Chennai
Chennai is the capital city of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Chennai is the fourth most populous metropolitan area and the sixth most populous city in India. Chennais economy has a broad industrial base in the automobile, computer, technology, hardware manufacturing and healthcare industries. About the Institution


Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering (SSNCE) is the outcome of the vision and initiative of Dr. Shiv Nadar, Chairman, HCL Technologies, a pioneer in the field of Information Technology. The Institution reflects the ideals of its founder and seeks to achieve excellence as an academic Institution and advanced research centre. The Institution was established in 1996 on a sprawling campus of 250 acres on the Rajiv Gandhi Road (OMR) known as Cyber Corridor of Chennai. The campus comprises aesthetically designed buildings that are networked by fiber optic cables. The Institution offers nine B.E./B.Tech. degree programmes in Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, Information Technology, Chemical, Biomedical, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. The Institution also offers eight M.E degree programmes in Communication Systems, Applied Electronics, Computer & Communication, Power Electronics & Drives ,Computer Science & Engineering, VLSI, Software Engineering, Energy Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering in addition to MBA and MCA. The ISO 9001:2000 certified Institution has been accredited by National Board of Accreditation and also accredited NAAC with A Grade. The institution consistently ranks first among all colleges affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. SSN is ranked 24th among all engineering colleges in India and ranked 23rd according to the HR perception-wise ranking, ranked fifth in south zone (the only private Engineering College among top 5). The management awards over 400 scholarships worth Rs 4.3 crores every year to meritorious and deserving students. The college has Wi-Fi connectivity, e-learning enabled classrooms and state of the art laboratories and softwares.

About the department


The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering offers NBA accredited B.E. degree program in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and M.E. degree program in Power Electronics and Drives. The Department has 29 qualified faculty members including 13 Ph.D. The Department is well equipped with state-of-theart laboratories like Advanced Power Electronics lab containing Special Machines & Drives, Solar Energy Research Lab, High Voltage Lab with 100 kV AC/140 kV DC source and UG & PG Simulation Labs with licensed softwares like MATLAB, Magnet, Labview, Pspice, PSim, PSCAD, Mipower etc. The department is a recognized Research Centre of Anna University. 60 scholars have registered for Ph.D. under 10 supervisors and 18 Ph.D. have been awarded. Broad areas of research include Power Systems, Control & Dynamics, Renewable Energy Systems, Power Electronics & Drives, HighVoltage, Special Machines and Optimization & Control techniques. The department has over 230 publications in referred journals and 250 publications in National / International conference proceedings. The department has signed MoU with Danfoss Industries, and has taken up research projects funded by AICTE and MNRE. The Department has organized one International Conference, five National Conferences, six Faculty Development Programmes sponsored by Anna University, three Short-term Training Programmes sponsored by AICTE- ISTE and many Workshops.

About the Conference


The Second International Conference on Electrical Energy Systems (ICEES 2014) will be held at SSN College of Engineering, Chennai, India during 7-9 January 2014 with the support of IEEE. ICEES2014 will be technical co-sponsored by IEEE Madras Section, Power Engineering Society (PES)-Madras Chapter and Control Systems Society (CSS)-Madras chapter. The first International Conference ICEES 2011 was conducted under the IEEE Madras Section banner and its society IAS. The conference was supported by ISA South India Section, Defense Research Development Organisation, CSIR, Danfoss Group Global, Twinvey Electrical Consultancy, Siechem Industries and Tessolve Services Private Limited. We are expecting similar support this time too. The objective of the Second International Conference on Electrical Energy Systems (ICEES 2014) is to provide a platform for academicians, researchers and industrial professional engineers to present their research findings and developmental activities in the broad area of Electrical Energy Systems. This conference will provide opportunities for the delegates to exchange new ideas and their experiences to establish research relations for future collaborations. The conference is recognized as one of the major conferences in energy systems. Papers presented in conference will be included in IEEE Xplore Digital Library.

Original contributions based on the results of research and developments are solicited on the wide range of topics listed below. Prospective authors are requested to submit their papers in not more than 6 pages, prepared in the two column IEEE format. The paper should contain the e-mail addresses, postal addresses and affiliation of the author(s). Accepted papers will be published in the proceedings of the conference, provided at least one of the authors registers for the conference.
