DESCRIPTION: The Membership and Events Coordinator is an employee of The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce and reports to the Chamber President/CEO. The position is responsible for coordinating all Chamber events along with membership recruitment, sales and retention. RESPONSIBILITIES ESPONSIBILITIES: This position supports the Chambers mission and vision which includes the following primary functions: Coordinate all aspects of the Northwest Cherry Festival including the parade, coronation, lip sync, open air market and entertainment stage; Heart of the Gorge... In The Summer Concerts; Annual Awards Banquet; Starlight Parade, Re-Connect with the River Celebration, Membership Picnic, and other special events as they are developed. Coordinate Chamber events including Business After Hours, Power Breakfast, Coffee Connections, educational seminars, ribbon cuttings, Ambassador visits, grand opening celebrations and other Chamber events as they are developed. Secure sponsorships for Chamber events, Cherry Festival, Heart of the Gorge... In The Summer Concerts, Annual Awards Banquet, and other events as they are developed. Manage all aspects of event production including but not limited to: site selection, contracts, vendors, permits, set-up/teardown, volunteers, and onsite coordination. Develop & manage event budgets. Meet or exceed established financial goals for all events. Work with the Marketing & Communications Coordinator to develop marketing strategies, advertising promotions, printed materials, marketing collateral and publicity pieces that will effectively promote events to various audiences. Promote the benefits of the Chamber and sell new memberships throughout the community Communicate regularly with members to ensure satisfaction with their membership. Enter new member data and manage the membership database to ensure accuracy. Work with bookkeeping staff to ensure accurate and timely member billing. Serve as staff liaison to the Ambassadors, Merchant Committee, Events Committee, Membership Committee and coordinates committee needs and information to the TDACC staff. Assist with The Dalles Visitors Center as needed. Join and attend at least one service organization (Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions etc.). Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: A 4-year degree or equivalent work experience. Outstanding interpersonal and team building skills. Must be customer service focused. High level of creativity and strong problem-solving skills. A demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage numerous projects simultaneously. Must work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to perform multilevel tasks, troubleshoot, be flexible, think quickly and react decisively. Well developed written and oral communication skills; including speaking to large groups.

Must be dependable, reliable and responsive to members, prospective members & others. Computer Skills: Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Publisher. Ability to learn new technology and software applications. Database and website experience desirable. (Chamber Master is a plus) Be willing to learn local and regional history as it relates to tourism in the area. Ability to utilize Social Media for the benefit and promotion of our members. Strong organization skills; resourceful and proactive; energetic and self-starter. Flexible schedule; able to attend evening and morning events. Non-profit/membership organization a plus; Bilingual (English/Spanish) also a plus.
