The fight against malaria has
reached a decisive moment. In
2008, the largest commitments
in history injected new resources,
support and energy into the
global effort against the disease.
Malaria No More is working to
capitalize on this momentum
for the greatest possible impact:
saving lives.
We are focused on providing
universal access to mosquito
nets, effective medicine and
targeted spraying to all people
at risk of malaria in Africa by
the end of 2010. This is a crucial
first step in ensuring the end of
malaria deaths on the continent
by 2015.

Malaria No More has joined with U.S. Fund
for UNICEF to distribute more than two
million nets in sub-Saharan Africa. UNICEF
secured 20 million nets with support from
UNITAID, but required additional funds
to get them where they are needed most…
over beds. MNM has committed $3 million
to deliver nets at an average cost of only
$2.77 per net in Angola, Nigeria and the
Democratic Republic of the Congo. This will
send three times more nets for every $10
we invest—another example of how MNM
leverages investments to save as many lives
as possible.
Taking it a step further, the U.S. Fund is
appealing to its supporters for a 100% match
of the MNM investment to get more nets to
families in Africa who need them. Together,
we’re working to find the resources to
activate as many nets as possible.

Jack Bauer can usually be found battling
the forces of international terrorism and
government corruption, but he took a break
to help MNM battle a different enemy:
malaria. The broadcast premiere of 24:
Redemption and subsequent episodes have
featured a 30-second Malaria No More
Public Service Announcement, which 24
star Kiefer Sutherland filmed while shooting
on-location in Africa. To celebrate the red-
carpet premiere of 24: Redemption in New
York City, Kiefer met with ten lucky online
auction winners to raise additional funds for
Malaria No More.
The PSA has already reached more than
12 million viewers, raising awareness and
funds for life-saving mosquito nets. Thanks
to the hit Fox show’s universal appeal and
Malaria No More’s media relationships, the
PSA will air in the UK, Canada, and South
Africa and online—helping Jack Bauer
bring a message of urgency in this “critical
mission” to 24 fans across the globe.

captivate millions—and his activism against malaria has the power
to save millions. Youssou and Malaria No More are harnessing
Youssou’s music, celebrity, leadership and passion to launch a
country-wide awareness campaign that will urge every person in
Senegal to sleep under a mosquito net and seek treatment when they
are sick from malaria.

The Faiths Act Fellows program, launched by the Tony Blair Faith
Foundation and the Interfaith Youth Core, engages youth from
different faith backgrounds in the fight against malaria in partnership
with Malaria No More. 30 young people from Canada, the U.S. and the
UK will work on malaria in the field in Africa, then return to mobilize
faith communities at home to raise awareness and funds for malaria
control efforts.

Street’s unique ability to connect with kids to the fight against
malaria. In addition to teaching letters and numbers, Neno (Africa’s
“Elmo”) will help kids learn how to protect themselves from malaria.
