PROGRAM OF INSTRUCTION Course : Lecture/Training on First Aid with Mass Casualty Incidence

Course Description : A specialized course of training which will serve as an added skills to all RHS Personnel. A concise and comprehensive approach in response to medical emergency situation aimed for use of any law enforcement agencies and security related courses. The participants will learn basic life support and the simple and effective method of managing situation in a mass casualty event. The concepts involved are based on universally accepted , proven and effective methods and procedure of management. Rationale : The Philippine National Police are prone to encounter situation wherein medical attention are much needed most of the time. During Police Patrols and Police Operations , incident could happen at any time, could be it vehicular accident or gunshot wound during police encounters while on patrol, or a man walking on the street who suddenly becomes unconscious. And , in a worst scenario, during calamities like super typhoon Ondoy who brought disaster to certain parts of Metro Manila few years ago, living poor families unsheltered and sick.ed. Immediate medical attention are needed to render to the individuals who are directly hit by the flashfloods and debris. First aid should be given immediately to prevent further injury or harm , and to maintain life and restore life in worst cases .During the Hostage Crisis at the Manila Park, many lost their lives while others suffered multiple injuries, in this case, knowledge in triaging or critical management procedure are necessary. First aid prevent loss of lives, it maintain life, and it restore life. Goal Objectives : Saving and Caring for the Ones who Serve and Protect : At the end of the program , the participants is expected to :

a. Understand the common emergencies and the first aid measures that must be followed in order to save lives or prevent complications. b. Comprehend and able to demonstrate cardio-pulmonary resuscitation . c. Differentiate the classification of wounds as to type and location , and the immediate care for each kind. d. Know the parts of the skeletal system and the immediate care of bone and joint injury.

e. Demonstrate supervision and management of emergency medical care during calamities while awaiting medical personnel. f. Understand the proper way of transporting the sick and wounded so as not to aggravate their condition or endanger their lives.
