A RESOLUTION PROVIDING THE LEAGUE OF COLLEGE COUNCILS - UP DILIMANS SUPPORT FOR THE CAMPAIGN FOR THE PASSAGE OF PEOPLES FREEDOM OF INFORMATION BILL IN THE 16TH CONGRESS THROUGH THE FOI YOUTH INITIATIVE WHEREAS, the LEAGUE OF COLLEGE COUNCILS UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES, DILIMAN establishes its support for the call for transparency and accountability in government through the immediate passage of the Freedom of Information Bill, thus inviting local student councils and university-based and college-based organizations to be part of the FOI Youth Initiative. WHEREAS, the LEAGUE OF COLLEGE COUNCILS UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES, DILIMAN expresses its solidarity with different sectors of society in the clamor for more solid mechanisms that enable governance that is open and honest to the people. WHEREAS, the LEAGUE OF COLLEGE COUNCILS UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES, DILIMAN affirms that our right to information enshrined in the Constitution must be institutionalized through the FOI Law to guarantee that transparency among public officials and employees becomes a norm and not simply a discretion of individuals bound by their terms of office. WHEREAS, THE LEAGUE OF COLLEGE COUNCILS, UNIVERISTY OF THE PHILIPPINES, DILIMAN believes that the FOI Law is a measure that shall curb corruption and advance participatory governance that will truly benefit each and every Filipino. WHEREAS, THE LEAGUE OF COLLEGE COUNCILS, UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES DILIMAN opposes the inclusion of an unconsitutional and anti-press freedom Right of Reply rider within the FOI Bill because this dilutes the essence of a measure that seeks to strengthen the right to information of all Filipinos. WHEREAS, the LEAGUE OF COLLEGE COUNCILS UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES, DILIMAN shall be submitting this resolution to the House of Representatives of the Philippines and Senate of the Philippines.

NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the LEAGUE OF COLLEGE COUNCILS UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES, DILIMAN adopts and enacts this RESOLUTION PROVIDING SUPPORT FOR THE CAMPAIGN FOR THE PASSAGE OF PEOPLES FREEDOM OF INFORMATION BILL IN THE 16TH CONGRESS THROUGH THE FOI YOUTH INITIATIVE, effective August1, 2013.
