Exploring Romans Questions 8

(Romans 8:1-39) 1.The eighth chapter of Romans begins with what and ends with what? No condemnation No separation 2.Explain how Noahs ark pictures the concept of being secure in Christ? When the ark was finished and a perfect way of escape from divine wrath provided, the invitation went forth, "Come thou and all thy house into the ark" Gen. 7:1). Now, the ark was pitched "within and without with pitch" and, interestingly enough, the Hebrew word for "pitch" is the identical word used elsewhere for "atonement." Between the saved in the ark and the waters of judgment without was the hewn wood and the pitch. Once Noah and his family were safely in the ark, we read that "the LORD shut him in" (Gen. 7:16). Here was complete security. God did not say to Noah, once the ark was finished, "Now, Noah, I want you to take eight spikes and drive them into the outside timbers of the ark. So long as you and your family hang on you will be saved, but if you once let go you will be lost." No! God shut him in. What it meant for Noah to be "in the ark," it means for us to be "in Christ." In Him, God has placed us in a sphere where His wrath can never reach us and we are secure as Christ can make us. There is no more condemnation for sin. 3.What is the only way to avoid the mistakes made by the carnal mind and how do we accomplish this? By having the mind of Christ, and by allowing the Spirit of God to control the mind 4.According to Romans 8:14, what is the proof of our adoption? The guiding and leading ministry of the Spirit of God 5.What is the difference between adoption into the family of God and adaptation to the family of God? Adoption into the family of God is a priceless privilege; adaption involves a process of discipline. Adoption is prior to adaption. 6.Explain why only a Spirit-taught believer can truly pray. It is because the ministry of prayer is a purely spiritual ministry that we stand in such deep need of the Holy Spirit to help our infirmities in this matter. 7.What three reasons are given for the guaranteed success of the prayers of the Holy Spirit in Romans 8:26-27?

First, God knows and searches our hearts as only He can. Second, He knows the Spirit's mind: "knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit." Third, He prays according to the will of God

8.What is the simple reason that all things must work together for good to the called of God? God's purposes cannot be thwarted. 9.What seven enemies of the Christian does Paul list in Romans 8:35? Tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword 10.What ten things does Paul list in Romans 8:38-39 that can never separate us from the love of God? Death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature
