ACTOneisCTC'scohesiveplatformforaccess,diversity,andinclusioninouraudiences,our programs,ourstaff,andourboard.Threeinterdependentwordsofactionguideour commitmenttoafuturewhenourtheatreisahomeforallpeople,allfamilies,reflectiveofour community:Access,Connect,Transform. CTCbelievesthatthetheatrecanbeapowerfulforcetoilluminateconnections,create commonbonds,andtotransformlivesbybuildingbridgestoempathy,understanding, inclusion,andopportunity.Historically,manyhavebeenexcludedfromparticipatinginthe theatreduetoimplicationsofracism,discriminationbiasandclassism.Thecostoftickets, accessibilityforthosewithdisabilities,andalackofwelcomeandinvitationtocommunitiesof colorhavecreatedfurtherbarriersbothrealandperceived. Asthenationalleaderinthefieldoftheatreforyoungaudiencesandtheircommunities,CTC recognizestheurgentneedtoaddressthesepastinjusticesandinequitiesonaninstitutional level.ACTOneisourplantoaccomplishthisinternalandexternaltransformation.Access, Connect,Transform. ACCESS:ThegoalofCTC'sAccessprogramsistoidentifyandmitigaterealandperceived barrierstoparticipationforallunderservedpopulations,includingcost,transportation, accessibility,language,andunfamiliaritywiththevalueoftheatre.Ourannualreachthrough Accessis80,000,morethanonethirdofouraudienceeachseason.
