Question#1

Can you classify Gandhi’s


Leadership into six Domains
model ?

We have seen a lot of leaders but most of them are not covering all six dimensions
of this model ,but after viewing the video and analyzing the personality of
Mahatma Gandhi then we came to know that Gandhi is the such leader who is
covering most of the parts of above pyramid ,all six parts of pyramid’s are discuss
regarding Gandhi’s qualities of leadership:

“Personal Leadership”
If we observe the personal leadership dimension of Gandhi’s leadership, we will
observe that he declare just one way for people which was not based on religion ,
color , gender ,race , or power but he told people that “We All are citizens of
empire”
He told people that “there should be no discrimination between Muslims’ Hindus,
Sikhs or christens in state but all will be Indians”
And due to Gandhi’s Leadership people realize and raise slogan that “ONE
LAW ! ONE KING!”
Authenticity of Gandhi’s attribute , social skills and personal values which inspire
people too lead by him.
We can view the personal involvement of Gandhi into each and every part of
people’s protest or even during “Lathi charges” or arresting he stand like iron wall
with his followers and alone,
After viewing the documentary of Gandhi I will not hesitate to say that there was a
magic of Gandhi’s leadership who influence people to follow him like sheeps .

“Relational leadership”
After viewing the Gandhi’s leadership we came to know that how he generate
social ties between people and himself, if any follower came to him he feel them
as he is in their place and not only feel but also do some thing to make his
followers more close to him,
As we can see in movie when an old man came to him and told him about their
misery and crop of indigo situation in their village. Gandhi talk with him and not
only listen him but also walk to his village to see reality , it was so bad situation
for him to see people is such condition just because of British rule, which further
lead Mr. Gandhi to leave his foreign cloths and sew cloth with his own hands to
show people that he is a person who is suffering from the same situation.
It shows that how a leader fells , respect ,and concern for hi followers. It also
shows that what type of under standing should be between a leader and his
followers.

When there was civil war in both Pakistan and India we can see the concern of
Mr.Gandhi with people that he stop heating or drinking till its end which also help
to stop riots between Hindus and Muslims,

“Contextual Leadership”
After viewing the Gandhi’s Leadership we will come to that how this person build
his and his team’s identity and how people response to his team. there were simple
and poor people in the team of his followers even we see that one or two Muslim
leaders such as Abu-kalam Azad was also a part of Gandhi’s team, there were all
kind of people in the Gandhi’s team rich poor ,Muslims, Christens , and Hindus .
because his procedures were so fare and transparent

As in the movie we can see that how MrGandhi lead his team towards see even for
this movement he travel for 240 Miles village to village to tell people and to lead
them to salt place for this he and his followers bear so much pain and Jails but
even they don’t move back one step,

“Inspirational Leadership”
After viewing Gandhi’s leadership we came to know that how he build a desire for
freedom , greatness and equality and Motivate them by practical work and realize
them how to work enthusiastically, for this purpose he travel a lot not only the
parts of India and other countries but also sentence to jail a number of time ,and it
was his saying that it is like an other his trip to jail and it motivate people that jail
is not a punishment and it could not stop us from our way to achieve our freedom,

“Supportive Leadership”
Gandhi’s leadership aware people and he play great role in the mental building of
his followers , even in his he never blame people but tell them how to handle riots
and he take such works from his followers which were achieve able and easy to
understand.

Gandhi’s Leadership coach people that how to achieve their tasks, he not only
coach people to right direction but also control Human nature of people from
violence and riots ,he control people more than an ordinary leader he gave his life
but don’t agree with riots of his followers.

“Ethical Leadership”
it’s the top rank in the six domains of leadership but if we see or realize Gandhi’s
leadership we will come to know that it was his main and most dominant feature,
as we can see his role in public and how he make decision about his followers and
ethical behavior of his followers ,

As we can see this kind in Gandhi’s documentary that when ever he arrested
people stay calm just because of Gandhi’s non-violence instruction to his people,
because he want to people balance in protest.
Once he was arrest, as he came to jail, Jail Officer call him to listen his point of
view , officer offer him drink ,tea, and offer him to sit but he refuse that being a
prisoner he could not sit on the offered seat and after convincing the jail officer
,the jail officer G.Smuths release him because of his leadership it all happened
through out his life that people and even Britishers listen Gandhi’s words and give
him importance.

What effects of Gandhi’s


leadership did you see ?

After viewing the Gandhi’s documentary we can list number of effects of his
leadership on people but a few of them is listed down.

 People of India realize their freedom.


 Show his followers way to freedom

 Judge of British Govt.stand to welcome him unconsciously.

 Obedience for his nation

 Truth,

 Purity,

 Self-control

 Political awareness in Indian people

 Firmness,

 Fearlessness

 Humbleness,

 Give the concept of unity in all religions,

 peace

 People of India were wanted to led by him .

 Foreigners were wanted to meet him to know his leadership

 Once Got bail without paying any penny.

 British Govt. also effected because of his leadership and they try to keep
Gandhi away from his followers and other people,

“Conclusion”
After viewing the Gandhi’s Leadership we came to know that dressing , eating
especial thing, living style or any material thing is not the sign of leadership but
leader should have such practices and roles which are according to the leader’s
mission, and leaders must realize their followers that what is good and what is bad
for the followers and how to face such situation where is nothing to help them
.and if a person like Gandhi came to show the real picture of future to the people
then every one would accept you as a leader who could make change or derive
people to make change.
