MTR-11_ILOCK

The driving force behind motor control is the Device Control block (DC1). The parameter window, shown above, displays the DC1 blocks common configuration parameters. Selecting STATE_MASKS above displays the STATE_MASKS Properties box shown below.

State Masks

The STATE_MASKS Properties dialog box can be modified to meet specific operating requirements. Empty = 0 value on I/O channel Check mark = 1 value on I/O channel Stippled check mark light gray background = dont care Stippled check mark dark gray background = not available Passive: = 0 in named set Active1: = 1 in named set

Named Sets

Access the Named Set Properties: mtr2-sp dialog box from DeltaV Explorer by selecting: Setup Named Sets Not all default Named Sets can be modified. However, new Named Sets can be created if needed.

Device Options

Modify the DeltaV Device Options properties for the Device Control (DC1) block so that it satisfies the process control strategy and the operations safety requirements.

Interlocking

Interlocking is provided by the use of condition blocks for Expression evaluation. The Boolean Fan Input (BFI) block provides a first out trap for operator indication and the OR block provides operator indication of bypassed conditions.

Create motor control module MTR-102 in the following manner: Step 1. Step 2. Step 3. From the DeltaV Explorer, drag n drop the MTR-11_ILOCK template from the Library to PLANT_AREA_A. Rename the module MTR-102. Launch the Control Studio and modify the module as indicated below: I/O IO_IN_1 IO_OUT_1 Device_Opts XI-2 ZX-2 Card 3 Channel 2 Card 4 Channel 2

Passive on Active Timeout Passive when confirmed

Assign the module to the controller. Select the button to modify module properties primary display Tank101 and modify Detail to match the number of defined condition blocks. Select the button to save and the button to download the module.

Modify the operator display by adding motor control module MTR-102 to the Tank101 display in the following manner: Step 1. Step 2. Launch the DeltaV Operate (Configure) application and open the Tank101 display. Add Datalinks with the following characteristics: MTR-102/DC1/PV_D.A_CV MTR-102/DC1/SP_D.A_CV (Data Entry Expert/Pushbutton Entry) MTR-102/ALARMS[1].A_LAALM Step 3. Step 4. Animate the pumps color by checking the Animate Pump Color or clicking the Color button on the Pump Dynamo dialog box. The Color By dialog box appears.

Workshop Operating the Motor Control Module


Verify the operation of motor control module MTR-102 in the following manner: Step 1. Step 2. Step 3. Step 4. Step 5. Step 6. Run the DeltaV Operate application. Energize (open) XV-101. Fill Tank101 to 500 gallons. Verify that motor control module MTR-102 is operating properly by manipulating the SP_D. De-energize (close) XV-101 and verify that the interlock occurs. Adjust Tank101s level to 10 gallons and verify that the interlock occurs.
