2 4 The Pattern
SYMBOLS GRAIN LINE Place on straight grain of fabric parallel to selvage PLACE SOLID LINE on fold of fabric. CENTER FRONT OR BACK of garment. ADJUST IF NEEDED Make adjustments before placing pattern on fabric. TO LENGTHEN: Cut pattern between lengthen or shorten lines. Spread pattern evenly, the amount needed and tape to paper. TO SHORTEN: At lengthen or shorten lines, make an even pleat taking up amount needed. Tape in place. When lengthen or shorten lines are not given, make adjustments at lower edge of pattern.

Cutting/Marking
BEFORE CUTTING: PRESS pattern pieces with a warm dry iron. PRE-SHRINK fabric by pre-washing washables or steam-pressing nonwashables. CIRCLE your cutting layout. To Quick Mark: PIN pattern to fabric as shown in Cutting Layouts. AFTER CUTTING: Transfer markings to WRONG side of fabric before removing pattern. Use pin and chalk method or dressmakers tracing paper and wheel.

1. Stay-stitch neck and side edges of front and back 1/2" (1.3cm) from cut edge in direction of arrows. This stitching stays in permanently and helps prevent stretching on curved edges. Stay-stitching will not be shown in the following illustrations.

8. Apply fusible interfacing to WRONG side of front and back facing sections following manufacturers directions. Stitch shoulder seams of facing sections. To EDGE FINISH unnotched edge...stitch 1/4" (6mm) from edge, turn under along stitching and stitch OR zig-zag over the edge OR overlock/serge over the edge. 19

19. With WRONG sides together, pin ounce to lower edge of sleeve, matching underarm seams and spreading clips so that the ounce conforms to the shape of lower edge of sleeve. Stitch in a French seam. Press seam up, pressing ounce out.

To keep the facing from rolling to OUTSIDE, secure it at the seam allowances by tacking it by hand, stitching in the ditch or using a small piece of fusible web. 21 21. To ease top of sleeve between notches, stitch along seam line and 1/4" (6mm) INSIDE seam line, using a long machinestitch. Stitch underarm seam. Press up hem. To EDGE FINISH the raw edge...stitch under 1/4" (6mm), zigzag, OR overlock/serge. Slip-stitch hem in place.

32 32. Mark length. Press up hem along marking. Mark depth of hem; trim evenly. To EDGE FINISH the raw edge...stitch under 1/4" (6mm), zigzag, overlock/serge, OR stitch one edge of hem tape 1/4" (6mm) over raw edge. Slip-stitch hem in place.

VISTAS E, F
12. Pegue la entretela adhesiva al REVES de las secciones de la vista del frente y la parte
trasera siguiendo las instrucciones de la vista. Cosa las costuras de los hombros de las secciones de la vista. Cosa las costuras de los hombros de las secciones de la vista. Para hacer ACABADO DEL BORDE sin muescas... haga un pespunte a 1/4" (6mm) del borde; doble por el pespunte y cosa o haga puntada de zigzag U overlock sobre el borde.

30. Por el DERECHO, prenda con alleres la vista en el borde de la sisa colocando el punto
pequeo en la costura del hombro y casando las otras costuras. Cosa. Recorte la costura; haga cortes en las curvas.

13. DERECHO CON DERECHO, prenda con alleres la vista en el borde del escote
casando los centros y las costuras de los hombros. Cosa. Recorte la costura; haga cortes en las curvas.

31. Vuelva la vista al REVES; planche. Hilvane cerca del borde interior de la vista. Por el
DERECHO, cosa con puntada de adorno siguiendo el hilvn.

14. Para hacer la costura oculta, planche la vista hacia fuera y la costura hacia la vista. Con 33
la vista boca arriba, cosa cerca de la costura a travs de la vista y de los mrgenes de costura.

DOBLADILLO
32. Marque el largo. Planche el dobladillo a lo largo de la marca. Marque el ancho del
dobladillo; recorte parejo. Para hacer el ACABADO del borde no terminado....cosa a 1/4" (6mm) del borde, haga un doblez a lo largo del pespunte y cosa con puntadas corrientes O cosa con puntadas de zigzag O con la mquina overlock/sobrehiladora O cosa un borde de la cinta para el dobladillo a 1/4(6mm) encima del borde no terminado. Cosa el dobladillo en sitio con puntadas falsas.

33. NECKLINE TRIM VIEW A- Starting at one shoulder seam, pin straight edge of at lace along neck edge of front and back, folding out fullness at center front and turning under and lapping at shoulder seam. Stitch along straight edge of trim.

15. Vuelva la vista al REVES; planche.

Para prevenir que la vista se enrolle hacia el EXTERIOR, fjela en los mrgenes de costura cosindola a mano, cosiendo en el pliegue de la costura o pegndola con un trocito de materia adhesiva.

MANGAS A
16. Para sostener la parte superior de la manga entre las muescas, cosa con puntadas
largas a lo largo de la linea de costura y a 1/4 (6mm) al INTERIOR de la linea de costura. Cosa la costura de debajo del brazo.

33. ADORNO DEL ESCOTE MODELO A- Empezando en la costura del hombro, prenda
con alleres el borde recto del encaje plano en el borde del escote delantero y de la parte trasera reduciendo la amplitud en el frente del centro y doblando y cruzando los extremos en la costura del hombro. Cosa a lo largo del borde recto del adorno.

34 34. NECKLINE TRIM VIEW C- Starting at one shoulder seam, pin one straight edge of exible lace along front neck edge, folding out fullness at center front and turning under ends at shoulder seam. Stitch close to both long edges of trim.

17. Cosa la costura de debajo de los brazos del volante de la manga con una costura
francesa.

34. ADORNO DEL ESCOTE MODELO C- Empezando en la costura del hombro, prenda
con alleres el borde recto del encaje estirable en el borde del escote delantero y de la parte trasera reduciendo la amplitud en el frente del centro doblando y cruzando los extremos en la costura del hombro. Cosa cerca de ambos bordes largos del adorno.

18. Cosa a mquina a 1/4 (6mm) del borde con muescas del volante de la manga.
Planche el margen para el dobladillo en el borde inferior del volante.Para formar el dobladillo angosto, doble el borde no terminado colocndolo en el pliegue. Planche. Cosa el dobladillo. Haga cortes en el borde con muesca hasta el pespunte a lo largo de las curvas.
