Given this structure, students have in effect an additional two years post Leaving Certificate to choose that specialism which is in most in line with their personal strengths and career ambitions respectively. The programme provides a challenging curriculum aimed at developing strong communication, interpersonal, management and leadership skills that have been identified by the Business industry as essential for career success. As also outlined below, students have the option of completing a 16-20 week paid work placement in Year 3 or of studying abroad in one of the programmes 30 partner universities. Placement partners include leading companies in all the key business sectors including Financial Services, Pharmaceutical, Retail, Information and Communications Technologies and Consultancy. The course provides a broad, analytical and highly integrated study of business organisations (profit and non-profit), their management and the changing external environment and society in which they operate. This can be characterised from three perspectives e.g. Business Organisation, External Environment and Management.
