OPC three letters that stand for driving muscle. Opels motor sports engineers at the Opel Performance Center Gmbh set themselves the goal of transferring the winning technology and tough performance lessons learned on the European touring car and rally circuits to the Astra OPC. And they know what counts theyve been successfully coordinating all of Opels motor sports activities across Europe for years.

there: power, technology and understated (but unmistakeable) sporty design. Astra OPC is at the sporty top-end of the Astra series. Its where to find an unparalleled mix of heart-throbbing performance and responsive handling combined with built-in safety and ride comfort. Just a glance at the Astra OPC can raise the pulse. Carefully integrated into the cars bodywork are large front air intake scoops, rear spoilers, the specially designed door mirrors and OPC grille. Sitting lower than the standard car (by 20mm), the promise of good times to come is expressed through the 17-inch light alloy multi-spoke wheels.

Inside, the body-hugging contoured Recaro sports seat, and the solid grip of the three-spoke leather steering wheel continue the theme. The already clear instruments are enhanced by white backgrounds, and the gearknob and pedals are finished in brushed aluminium. But, at OPC, sporty does not mean spartan; seats in leather and cloth, and leather door facings raise the standard. All this, and even more? Caravan OPC will handle it all with the same sporty flair. A turn of the key is enough to fulfil the promise. The 2.0 litre turbo four cylinder ECOTEC responds to the finest movement of that aluminium pedal. Through the gears the torque is delivered smoothly and evenly, launching the Astra OPC to 100km/h in under 8 seconds, and willingly on to a maximum speed of 240 km/h. At these speeds the enhanced aerodynamics and sports suspension keep the adrenalin high, while traction control

and the vast stopping power of the 16" ventilated discs help to keep the pulse steady!

Astra OPC Factory-fitted Performance

To succeed in performance sports the basics have to be right. And the Opel Astra OPCs basics are unquestionable. The sports chassis has proven its robustness in countless competitions and Opels engineers found even more muscle for the 2.0 litre turbo ECOTEC engine. The results are an impressive 147 kW/200 PS that provides smooth power across the wide rev band, and in all driving situations. Matched with the OPC sports suspension system,

traction control and fade-resistant 16" brakes, the OPC delivers a truly invigorating driving experience. This was achieved with the help of Opel engineers and test drivers who put the Astra OPC through an extensive and rigorous development programme.. Under tougher conditions than most will ever experience, the Astra OPC passed its tests with flying colours to become the production car with factory-fitted performance.
