Recap
Children, last week, we saw how Job’s friends blamed him, thinking that his suffering was because of
him doing wrong. Job debated with his friends until they quarreled with one another. God eventually
revealed Himself to Job and asked him many questions, such that he knew that God is all-knowing,
all-powerful and all-loving. Everything that God did was so as to love him and bless him. Moreover,
God loved Job and blessed him not because Job did not do wrong or did everything well but because
Job was already God’s child.

Introduction
Job realized that he had misunderstood God in the past when he understood how much God loved
him. He realized that he was too proud in the past, thinking that God blessed him because he did not
do wrong but did everything well. (Actually the bible says that in this world, all have sinned and
separated from God. There is no one righteous. Therefore, Jesus Christ must come to die
for our sins and give us a new life and make us children of God. Therefore, those who know
and believe in Jesus Christ are children of God whom God loves and blesses). Job realized
that he was a sinner who received God’s salvation and immediately repented before God
when he understood this. Therefore, Job said, “O God, in the past, I only know you roughly
but today I truly know you. Thank you for loving me and saving a sinner like me!” After Job
understood God’s love, God then reprimanded Job’s three friends, saying, “What you told
Job was not right because the Lord God is not a judge who punishes people for their
wrongdoings. I am a merciful God. I love my children, my people and my servant, Job.
Therefore, I allowed him to go through such suffering, so that eventually he will truly know
Me.” Thereafter, God instructed Job to sacrifice a burnt offering for his friends (in
remembrance of Jesus Christ’s love) and thereafter prayed for them. After Job had done that,
the Lord, God caused Job to be freed from his sufferings and healed his body. He blessed
him with twice as much as he had before (whether it was sheep, camels, oxen or donkeys).
Job’s brothers and sisters also came to bless him. His three friends came to bless him and
were convinced that he was a righteous man and was one whom God loves and blesses.
Job later had another seven sons and three daughters. Job’s daughters were the most
beautiful in the land. Job also had a long life, living till 140 years old. What he received was
much more and better than what he had lost. From the time Job understood God’s love, God
gave all his blessings to Job double-fold.

1. God blessed Job because God first loved him and not because Job did everything
well.
1) Job always thought that God loved him and blessed him because he was a righteous
man who did not do wrong and shunned evil.
2) Actually, the bible says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” In other
words, when a person is born onto this earth, he already has sins because he is born
not knowing God and is bound by Satan. If he is not saved through Jesus Christ and
become a child of God, regardless of how good, how kind, how obedient he is, he is
a sinner and will go to hell.
3) Because God wanted Job to know his unconditional love (God blesses you not
because you do right, but because God has already loved you and therefore He
blesses you), God therefore allowed many problems to happen to Job so that he
could understand that, today, we encounter many problems (at home, in school and
with friends) because God wants us to understand that God loves us unconditionally.
Therefore, do not blame others and do not blame ourselves. There is God’s love in
everything.

2. Job understood that he himself was a sinner and received God’s salvation
(precious blood of Jesus Christ).
1) When Job was suffering, God allowed his three friends to blame him such that Job
was in greater pain. He continued to debate with his friends, saying that he had no
sin and he was a righteous man of the East.
2) However, in the midst of this, God wanted to reveal His greatest love (Jesus Christ)
to Job. The Bible says, “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were
still sinners, Christ died for us.”
3) Once Job understood that great love, he repented (because he knew that he was a
sinner), and later praised God’s great love, saying, “O God, my ears had heard of
you but now my eyes have seen you. Thank you for loving me and saving a sinner
like me!” [Children, let’s tell this to God today too! We must know, regardless of how
obedient we are, how well we do, God loves us the same because we are saved by
Jesus Christ.]

3. After Job understood God’s great love, he received twice as much as he had before.
1) After Job understood God’s love, God instructed him to pray for his three friends and
sacrificed a burnt offering, telling his three friends that they were sinners but God had
saved them in Jesus Christ and loved him the same.
2) Thereafter, God gave twice the blessings to Job – his sheep, camels, oxen and
donkeys were all increased. His brothers and sisters who left him earlier also came
back to look for him and blessed him, his three friends also respected him, he later
gave birth to seven sons and three daughters who loved God every much and were
the most beautiful in the land. Job received the greatest in everything.
3) Therefore, do not forget, in suffering, God is love! God allows sufferings because He
has greater blessings for us later.
