COME AND SEE Are you thinking of becoming a Catholic? A new course for anyone thinking of joining the Catholic Church will begin in September. It will meet on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm-8.45pm. It will continue until Easter when those who desire will be received into the Church. This could be the right time as well to invite any non-Catholic friends to come along and find out more. It is more than just a course: it is a way of getting to meet and know the Lord Jesus who is the living Heart of our Faith. PARISH FAITH FORMATION As part of the Year of Faith, Fr Andy is hosting evenings based upon the CaFE (Catholic Faith Exploration) compilation DVD produced for the Year of Faith. The final session which will be on the New Evangelisation, will be on Thursday 15 th August, and will run from 8.15pm at Our Lady of Peace. All are welcome to come along for a bit of faith input (each DVD session runs for around 40mins) in a relaxed environment (with plenty of time for drinks, nibbles and chat following the DVD)! ST VINCENT DE PAUL meet on Tuesday, 13th August at 2.00pm in the Sacristy of Our Lady of Peace. New members would be very welcome. If anyone knows of any parishioner who would like a visit from the SVP please let Yvonne know and it can be arranged. ROSARY WITH EXPOSITION of the Blessed Sacrament on Wednesday, 14 th August 7:30pm8:30pm at St. Ethelbert's Church for the Feast of the Assumption. All are warmly invited. PARISH PARTY There will be a Parish Party on Sunday, 8 th September (Birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary) following Sunday morning Mass at Our Lady of Peace which will be at 11.00am. Please note that on this Sunday there will be no 9.45am Mass at Our Lady of Peace, and no 11.30am Mass at St Andrews. The London and Slough Run are organising a 5k fun run and 10k race at Olympic venue Dorney Lake on 6 th October at 10.30am .All proceeds go to the London and Slough Run. PRESBYTERY GARDEN Can you spare an hour or two on a Saturday or even during the week? It does not have to be a permanent commitment - a little help goes a long way to keep our Church garden looking neat and tidy. The only qualification you need is enthusiasm! John is there from 10.00am every Saturday, and Giles, Martina and Leo have been working hard in the garden during the week, if you can pop in and help for an hour or so on a Saturday or during the week they would be delighted to see you. PARISH MASS BOOKS We are now using Volume 2 of the new Mass books for Year C. As with Year A and Year B, books if you would like to donate 1.95 for one of these books, or 7.95 for the large print books, please feel free to do so, and we will enter into the book a dedication for your intention. Just put into an envelope the offering and the name(s) you wish inscribed in the book(s) and hand to Yvonne: for a deceased person please add 'RIP' to the name or names; for someone alive, please add 'Intention'.
