Te Ocial Home of
We are delighted to bring you the
programme for the 9th award-
winning Agatha Christie Festival.
Headlining this year is the powerfully compelling
crime writer Val McDermid, best known for being
the creative force behind televisions Wire in the
Blood. The acclaimed queen of the psychological
thriller will be the special guest speaker at
Thursdays Literary Gala Dinner, a black tie event
and festival must.
We are also excited to announce that best-selling
author Kate Mosse OBE will be one of the panellists
on Fridays Literary Panel. Kate is well known for
her Labyrinth series of novels, with Labyrinth having
recently been adapted for Channel 4. Kate will be
joined by detective writer and one time chair of
the Crime Writers Association Simon Brett. The
pair last teamed up to discuss Christie in 2010 at
Londons South Bank, and are bringing their insights
and inspirations to the 2013 Agatha Christie Festival.
Completing the trio of panellists is David Brawn,
from festival sponsors HarperCollins.
For the frst time ever, weve introduced an Agatha
Christie Festival Hub at Torquays Grand Hotel
where of course Christie honeymooned in 1914. The
hub is the location for the Festival Lounge, where
youll have the chance to mix and mingle with other
festival goers and sample the delights of an Agatha
Christie inspired afternoon tea and cocktail menu.
Along with the truly excellent literary and arts events
youll fnd the usual mix of fun and frivolity including
murder mysteries, 1930s/1940s soires, flm
screenings and tours of Agatha Christies Riviera, so
you can truly follow in the footsteps of the Queen of
Crime. It would indeed be a crime to miss it!
