County Executive McCoy Announces Launch of Re-Vamped Albanycounty.com Website

Portal to Boost Link Between the Public and County Government
Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy today unveiled Albany Countys new website, which enhances the administrations goal of open and transparent government, service to residents and resources for those seeking information on Albany County. As we head toward the celebration of the countys 330th Anniversary later this year, the new website represents the future of how we communicate with the public, said McCoy. The site has been re-worked from top to bottom and the redesign was carried out with the requirement that the site be effective and user-friendly. The website features a new look and additional features to improve usability. It offers intuitive navigational tools and layouts that will help users access information more quickly and easily. The website features expanded use of social media and multimedia, including links to the Countys YouTube Channel and real time Twitter updates. The site also implements several innovative elements which places Albany County at the forefront of open government. The website includes a section called See Through Albany County, an initiative implemented by the County Executive to promote transparency in county government. The improved site navigation allows for faster and easier access to information relating to Albany County departments for the public. The site presents information and data clearly and concisely while providing updated information. There are new features on the website that dovetail with the County Executives priorities of making the county greener, providing an open look at government operations and ensuring that residents can access property tax information at any time. The See Through Albany County link provides access to information available on how tax dollars are spent, including county government departments, county budgets, financial reports, local legislation and the county legislature. The site also contains

separate topic areas for residents, businesses and visitors. There is also a way for the public to sign up to receive County news and information. This web site will serve as an important tool for communication and will enhance how my administration interacts with the public, said McCoy. Under the property tax section, Albany County Real Property Tax Service Agency will provide links to the tentative and final assessment rolls from local governments in the county. The page also contains information on digital tax maps. Additionally, the site contains useful information for those seeking to visit Albany County including regional information, senior housing opportunities, the arts and area higher education institutions. ###
