The polo matches saw intense competition and fierce battles, but did the score matter? Not really, everyone just played for fun. lf you didn't play, get ready for the next match. We enjoyed a fine summer afternoon. Thanks to everyone who participated.Special thanks go out to the Hashers, Jon Kirchoff for the music, Derrick Seys and Anne Traeger for outstanding food preparation; and Mark Richman for his cooking skills. Without him, we would have received a raw deal. And, BUMP wishes to thank the Hashers for their contribution of the "beverages". Anyone lookingforwardto Social lll ? Interestedin the MCH3 Club? r Rain a PartAgain! Plays Flonte Sano

By Amy Hunter July 25th- a small group of the Saturday, BIIMP faithful journeyed to Monte Sano Park in Huntsvillewith grandvisions State of an "epic dde." We lookedthe part. The trail conditionswere, we thought, a little wet but perfectly acceptable. Our feLings were reinforcedby the sign at the headof the trail reading "Bike Trails Open." us Otherridersjust exitingthe trail assured a greatride wasto come. Offwe went alongan old road bed leading to the single track--right there where the mapsaidit wouldbe. What a fine downhill ride! Mark Richman led the way. Hugh Leader and Derrick skills. admirable Seysfolloweddisplaying Anne Traegerand I kept what we'lI call a social pace at the rear where we chatted about...Well,never mind what we chatted about. Then IIE appeared. Up he jumped from the ground like a troll-in-the-box. He had beenrunning on thesetrails for nine years (andboy was he tired). He demanded that we exit his trails and ceasethe erosion in conditions... these"rain-soaked" Allow me to abbreviatethis story. We the angry person electednot to challenge du jour. (I know what you're thinking and would have had a I'm zureyou personally better plan. You weren't there. Shut up and read) We soughtthe park ranger for an offrcial response. The day really got from this point. Mark got lessremarkable one answerfrom the ranger;Derrick got another. We lost Mark. We found Mark. A rainstormcamealong andthen the trails really were rain soaked. We went home. I think somenice riding is available in the Huntsville ara. Monte Sano and other sites in the area are reputed to offer lots of fun trails. Thanksto Missy for faxing us the greatmaps. Looks like the club in Huntsville is doing some nice the work. I vote that we challenge trolls of the world and return to ride anotherday. Well, maybeI'11stay should home;but I think somebody do it.

Haveyou recently the BUMPsignsoddlypositioned noticed aroundthe area and especially along l-20? lt wouldappear the signsare markingan extension of Oak Mountain's Red Trailor the Cheaha trails. Onecan'thelpbut notice the signs .BUMP'was (inBUMP orange) indicating or is present. Boardhas beenaskedif thiswas the plan, but they BUMP's plan deny any part in the signs. Was this a mysterious discussed at the last meeting, or any prior?Whateverthe planor whomever the organizers, theyappear to havea good approach to makingBUMPa recognized club, but their trail buildingneeds significant improvement. The trails are flat quadruple track interstate, or are we to ride the shoulder? Thewhole thingseems to be morein linewithroadbikes. The highway department simplystatesthe signsare thereto giveindication (sounds of roughterrain or roadconditions like a traifto me!).Eventually we may learnthat secretworkdays have been constructing milesof trails ccnnecting Alabema slmilar te the Robert TrentJonesgolf system.
