14. Verification of PON Redundancy with Port level protection Refer Annexure Ok

Procedure: The PON Redundancy is called PON Protection. Here we can perform the redundancy test for the same card for PORT 1 & PORT 2, PORT 3 & PORT 4, not for any other combinations. Connect the 2 redundant ports to the 2x4 splitter, Take the O/P of the splitter to the ONU. Please do the below configuration in OLT.

1) Measure the Tx power at the OLT PON Ports( 1490nm)

Make the Ports up for EPON cards and check with 1490 nm . The sample reading are given below

Make the Gigal-Ethernet Port Administratively Up and check the Power readings with 1550nm power meter. The sample readings are given below

Connect the Attenuator between RPR Switch and GEM Card and vary the attenuation as per below power levels

4) Measure the Tx power at the Uplink(Backhaul) Port of the Switch card ( A Port) 10Gb if equipped

3) Measure Tx Power of the Result Specification: Nominal +1.3dbm(+4dbm to -1dbm)

4) Introduce variable optical attenuator for ONT Verify the lower threshold point and Check all the services at lower threshold point

Introduce a variable optical attenuator between EPM card and ONU and pls do the above configuration for adding and activating ONU, and check the ONU registration for below specification of Power Levels. Result : working up to -33.3 dbm
Specification : -25.5dbm

1. From EMS Topology, Double click the OLT icon to Open Device Manager 2. Select ONU Configuration tab from ONU ONU Configuration, now select the ONT and click Modify.

3. Enable/disable the FEC Mode and Apply.

3. Check in the EMS the green color link (in ONU Topology view.) for the ONT since it is up

4. Power off the ONT 5. Power Switch off alarm will be reported from ONT and PON ONT Link turns yellow in ONU Topology view.

6. Power ON the ONT and same alarm will clear after ONT is UP; Link again turns green in (in ONU Topology view).

1. From EMS Topology, Double click the OLT icon to Open Device Manager 2. Select ONU OpticalTX Diagnosis tab from ONU ONU Management and see the TX and RX Optical Powers.

Completed the Test as per above procedure & found OK. Following is the remark: When the power cross threshold values it would be appreciable if it is shown in different color for easy identification of the failure, even without going to alarm management.
19 h.

Installation and Configuration of OLT/CSM Card/ GEM Port/EPM card

1. System Configuration for NTP Server and SNMP Trap Destination. IP Configuration and OLT & various boards reset.

2. Layer 2 configuration of GEM/XGEM board configuration for uplink.

2. Select the ONT and click Device Manager to open ONT Device Manager.

3. Configure triple play services

4. Check the triple play service (Voice , video and Data )

5. Check the system status from EMS 6. Reboot ONT from EMS Card Level, Port Level, ONT Level support may be checked

7. Check the ONT system status from EMS

8. Add and remove a service

9. Activate/De activate a service

10. Measure RX and TX Optical Powers from OLT Device Manager.

5. Create performance report manually at any time and see/export/print
