SOURCE RELIABILITY ANALYSIS - FOR GOPAD RIVER AT BHIKAJHARIYA INTAKE SITE MASS FLOW STATEMENT AT 92 % DEPENDABILITY Gross catchment

of River Gopad upto Jhoko Guaging station GC 5407 sqkm Net catchment of River Gopad upto HW near village Bhikajhariya NC 2128 sqkm

0.3935639 Ratio of NC/GC A river flow guaging station exists at village Jhoko on River Gopad. As per flow data of CWC at Jhoko from 1979 to 2006, which was available for study and reference only; and can not be reproduced here; the 10 daily average flow from January 1992 to Jul 1992 were historically the lowest. The table of decending order of yields at Jhoko shows that summer of 1989 was more than 90% dependable. The flow series of 1989 has been evaluated as 90% dependable flow series for evaluation of storage requirements.

The 10 Daily average flow in Month has been estimated based on flow series at the Guaging Station at Jhoko on River Gopad. The catchment area type and vegitation cover for total catchment upto Jhoko and Net catchment upto HW near Village Bhikajhariya are simillar hence estimated flow at HW near Village Bhikajhariya are pro-rata the catchment areas. Potential Evapo-Transpiration [PET] for Alahabad - Scientific Report No 136-1971; India Meteorological Department [in mm/month] RESULT 1. For all thermal power plants the raw water source reliability/dependability of at least 90% is required. 2. The analysis shows that the proposed storage at plant end will be adequate to bridge over the deficiency in the flow available form the river source and will ensure more than 90% dependability of raw water supply. 3. No storage is required to be created within the River Gopad, except for providing a weir for increasing the depth of flow to be suitable for drawal through the crib type inlet.
